| Pacifist run - what the heck, why not? Posted: 06 Nov 2021 04:50 AM PDT I watched Free Guy tonight, and got to wondering: is it possible to do a "pacifist run" of Guild Wars 2? That is to say, to "succeed" in GW2 without actually killing anything*? I've been playing since beta, and this sounds like a challenge. First off, obviously, one can't do the personal story.** Almost all of the stages involve killing something. So, what then is the goal? I decided that reaching level 80 without murder would count. I also decided that using things like Tomes of Knowledge or Experience Scrolls would be cheating, but XP boosters, food effects, and similar would be fine, though I'll still avoid them. I've got plenty of ....everything on my account, and that'll help a lot. Next question - which class? Any will do, I suppose, but dying every five seconds is tedious, so something durable will be best. I chose Guardian, a class I know pretty well. Heavy armor and passive aegis will cut down on the number of times I die, and provides a lot of utility skills to protect myself and others around me (so I'm not totally useless). Runes bumping up toughness, vitality, healing power are on the agenda when I get the character high enough to start using them. I won't be equipping weapons at all, even the shield. Sources of XP will be crafting, completing any hearts that can be done without killing anything (many of them can be), running around rezzing PCs and NPCs, and gathering. I'll also be running away a lot, and probably dying frequently. Some map completion, though there'll be some I can't complete the hearts on. I htink I've covered everything; I've started off my little Paxia Cynarae; if you see me, wave at me as I go running by. *This includes things that are technically already dead, like ghosts, Risen, Awakened. **One exception would normally be the very first instance, unfortunately, as you can't do anything until you've done that. | Posted: 06 Nov 2021 03:33 AM PDT Apologies for poking the same old topic a second time, but my google, reddit and forum-wide research had no result, as no one delved into what exactly I've been looking for. Also sorry for the long post and overly dramatic tone, but it's become an emergency at this point. It's vital, for my own, collapsing mental health. There is someone I need to disable from seeing my in-game activity (where I am in-game, if I am online, etc) but as I have found out last time, the Invisible status is ostensibly nothing of the sort, taking my previous thread here into account. I've been possibly stalked for months, which made me not want to log into the game that much to begin with, and my only proof I can give is that they've been hovering over my name, and mailed me when they figured out I was "online" (Invisible, in my case). I mean, it CANNOT be a coincidence. Being in the same guild as that person only complicates things, as they can see my exact location if we're on the same map (we both do Auric Basin, Dragonfall and Drizzlewood a lot). I've been told that removing them from my friend list won't remove me from theirs, and that they'll still be there in my Follower list, so basically there's no difference and probably more trouble stored for me should they found I've removed them. Therefore I am trying to find ways to force remove them from my Friend AND Follower list. I've thought about changing worlds or moving over to US, but either could cost me gems I've been hoarding for my dream gemstore items which haven't circled in yet. The thing is, I don't know if changing worlds means we won't be playing together ever again, either. Changing servers might, but it'd make in-game events harder for me to have access to (timezones etc). I really want to stay in EU. On the other hand, I've been thinking of changing my account name, but I suppose that would've made no difference if I were in that person's list anyway, because I know for a fact that they gave me a nickname. I'd rather go with the username change when they're gone, if at all. And what will happen if I just block them? Will that throw me off their friend list and never be able to add me again? EDIT: I don't want to lose my progress by getting a new account either. I'm going through an extremely tough period, have been for several years (which only worsened during the pandemic) and having had no genuine fun in-game for months only worsened my depression. Needless to say I couldn't enhance my social skills like before because I've been hiding under a rock and unable to at least look at the chat of a friendly guild full of people I've been getting along well with. I do not want to resort to contacting support and possibly ruin that person's account as I don't know about ANet's stance on matters like this. So PLEASE, is there anything I can do? I can't possibly ruin myself further just because a follower system is SO badly made in an otherwise godsent of a game. GW2 is the only MMO that makes me feel accomplished, one I truly love and it's been giving me a serotonin overdose. It's kept me from doing the 'one and irreversible action' for a long, long while. Again, I hope I'm not too overdramatic. But I'll admit I'm desperate. Please, I need solutions. As many of them as possible. [link] [comments] | ||

I feel the last story episode was ages ago, and I liked it so much when we got new content every 3 months or so. I miss that so much. The excitement of new story, new maps, feeling something new! Posted: 06 Nov 2021 04:36 AM PDT I'm thinking of coming back to guild wars 2 after the big let down that is new world but I'm unsure of which region is better for Aussie's atm... obviously na has better ping but from memory it was so hard to find groups for fractals, open world metas and world bosses etc.. Then there's EU which is better for population during my hours but you play with 280-290 ping, can any Australians give me advice? [link] [comments] | ||
