Being able to toggle helmet/backpiece/trinkets individually for each equipment template would be amazing

    Posted: 09 Oct 2021 10:14 PM PDT

For some looks I want my cape, for some I don't wanna see their backpiece, and I have to toggle it manually on and off each time

This would be a great functionality added to the game, even though I may not realize how hard it would be to code.

I'm going to try GW2 because of new world, could use some tips!

    Posted: 09 Oct 2021 07:47 PM PDT

Hey all, I've always had a hard time getting into MMO's. New world got me into it, the game has a great foundation but the PVE content isn't there yet. Now that MMOs have clicked for me I want to try GW2, can anyone provide tips for the best experience?

Just taking a walk (and accidentally overanalyzing Ascalon)

    Posted: 10 Oct 2021 05:42 AM PDT

Since y'all seemed to really like my analysis of the Guild Wars map (link in profile), as promised, here is me casually walking through Tyria, east to west, in this first part analyzing Ascalon and ranting about some gameplay stuff.

    tl;dr:

I said everything in the video, so here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04bI_wyUOdk

    not tl;dr:

Originally I had the glorious idea to walk all across Tyria, take the time so I can gauge the actual size of the map, and while doing so, why not ramble about worldbuilding and game design, because that's my thing... and I did... and it took me about 6 hours. (Don't worry, I cut it down to less than 30 min.)

But 6 hours is also not the exact time. The final result will be in the last part when I'm done editing and cutting all the parts where I got sidetracked and rambled for a while.

Needless to say: There will be a lot of (hopefully constructive) criticism. I also talk about realism a lot. Yes, I know this is a fantasy game, but there is functional fantasy and there is... well... "other". So I'm pointing out what could be improved in my opinion. However, I'm not super well versed in gw lore, so feel free to explain away whatever can be explained. (I would appreciate if you did so in the YT comments to help the channel along.)

There will be at least one follow up to this, obviously, but I do a lot of editing and I don't have much time, so give it like 2 weeks.

Holiday armor skins should be universal.

    Posted: 10 Oct 2021 02:16 AM PDT

Now before I get downvoted for having an opinion, I'm not saying every skin in the game should be usable by all armor classes. I've already read the posts about why that won't work and how ArenaNet has basically past the point of no return.

What I am saying is that holiday armor skins should be universal, IE usable by all armor classes. What got me thinking on this was two pieces of Halloween armor. Specifically the [Lunatic Acolyte Mask] and the [Bloodstained Lunatic Noble Mask]. Why?

    • The Lunatic Acolyte Mask is light armor and looks like a mask some horror movie slasher would wear. It's what you'd see a serial killer wear while stalking someone down a dark alley before stabbing them to death. And the one class that stabs people from the shadows and causes them to bleed is the Thief, which uses medium armor and can't wear the mask.
    • The Bloodstained Lunatic Noble Mask is medium armor and gives you black sclera as well as bloodstains around your mouth, as though you just sucked someones blood are ate the flesh from their body. A perfect skin for any Vampire, Cannibal, or Zombie theme. What class would this be perfect for? Necromancer, the class with an undead theme and life steal/blood skills. Can they use it? No.

There's probably more but these are the two that caught my attention as I would love to use them for certain character themes but can't do to restrictions. It's a lot smaller of a work load than doing every armor in the game and offers more options for special seasonal gear.

On a side note I want the Revenge axe skin on swords and daggers because cleaver weapons are awesome and I want to use them more.

    Cool Area in AC

    Posted: 10 Oct 2021 07:34 AM PDT

I found this years ago and I'm sure many others have as well, but I never had Reddit back then and so now that I'm playing again I thought I'd share for those that don't know.

In ascalon catacombs, in the area where you fight the final boss (path 1 I think). If you explore the back wall there are stairs going up.

Eventually you will see an opening covered with foliage. Walk through it and you will enter a massive area with pillars that looks like it was inspired by Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

The pillars have invisible planks connecting them you can walk over, with just a tiny amount of visible sand giving any indication they are there. The bottom is a huge drop into water.

What was this place? Is it someone of abandoned idea? Achievement? Might be absolutely nothing but it's a cool ass room.

Long ago, I suggested a UI improvement for those with lots of characters. The GW2 community treated it like an insult to Arenanet for suggesting anything. Now I find another game is doing what I suggested long ago. I couldn't find the old image, but here's a quick MSPaint of my suggestion.

    PvP observations post bans.

    Posted: 10 Oct 2021 06:04 AM PDT

I'll start this off by admitting that I'm not the best at pvp, but I'm not horrible either. I usually end up in platinum in conquest if I play enough in the season, but I usually stagnate in gold 2 or so in deathmatch formats (especially 2v2)

I have noticed that since the ban that my matches have all been much closer and I'm winning a way higher percentage. I made platinum in 2v2 for the first time ever. It seems like matchmaking has improved and I'm wondering if its coincidence or if lack of smurfs, people tanking rating on purpose, and botting has been reduced. I know they didnt claim that they banned any bots but I'm wondering if some of these people were botting as well.

I play on NA and would love to know if anyone else has noticed a change.

Opinion: Introducing a taxi transportation system in EoD is a huge mistake. Especially in an Exploration MMO like GW2 with the best mounts in the genre

    Gearing a character

    Posted: 09 Oct 2021 03:35 PM PDT

I'm a new player trying to understand what I have to do gear up my character. I tried looking into a lot of youtube videos and other sites but there's so much that one can do that its a bit confusing. Fractals seemed more fun than the other methods so I just wanted to confirm if I can farm all my gear doing them. Is this right? Can I spam them and buy the gear that I need with the currency? Or is it too inefficient? If someone has a better way to gear up feel free to say and enlighten an helpless noob.
