    Hello everyone,

    reading through the sub, especially after last week End of Dragons first look event hosted by Anet, I noticed people fixating over list of features. I don't want to dive into that discussion or judge how people should think about it. I want to share my personal excitement about upcoming expansion, which has nothing to do with skiffs, fishing or other things we usually get with GW2 dlc.

    I am simply excited for an opportunity to play something new.

    Last expansion for Guild Wars 2 - Path of Fire - released in 2017. It's been almost 4 years ago. Since then we got 1 and a half season of living world and multiple community events. Thing is, even though it is technically content and it kept me playing the game, it never made me excited. Regular releases, while I can't imagine GW2 without them, do not have the "wow" effect new expansion gives.

    For me, End of Dragons means I'm going to take week long vacation, sit together with my wife, turn off youtube, reddit, forums and twitter and simply enjoy exploring the content on our own, the way we like it, for as long as we want. This is something we have never experienced with Living World and what happens to be our couple ritual since HoT.

    I really hope, when EoD releases, this excitement stays with us for at least few days, maybe weeks. I introduced my wife to GW2 and it's our favourite game to play together. And expansion is like a movie premiere or Oscar gala, when we can enjoy Guild Wars 2 even more.

    I know the novelty won't stay there forever, it never does. But until it goes away, I want to enjoy every second of it :)

    Next Elite Spec update?

    So we got the info on Virtuoso, and teased with a Pistol Necro. I'm presuming the latter will get the next info dump, but I'm wondering when we should expect it. We're two weeks away from the first Beta event, so maybe we'll get info today and next Tuesday? Or do you think it'll happen closer to the event?

    Helping new players - August event schedule on EU servers

    Hi everybody!

    This is list of planned events for August, all of which are aimed to help new players to understand and run bit more complex meta events. Aka the events which span across maps and give lot of shinnies :)

    Schedule (dd.mm.yyyy):

    The links will take you to past instances of these events, you can check details there :) LW4 meta train will be done for a first time, gonna work on preparations for that one!

    How does it work?

    The runs are focused on new GW2 players, or anybody new to big meta events. I have prepared bunch of texts with explanations. Those are sent to squad chat, with voiced explanation on my twitch stream, for those who prefer it. Main goal of event is to clear out all "WTF is going on", explain mechanics needed for the meta and show them to new players.

    How to get notified about event start?

    • This Reddit post - I will be sending new comments about events starting, and details of upcoming events.
    • ??? I am thinking about some other way. Maybe public discord with alerts? Like a single purpose discord server? Let me know what you think, IMHO the notifications could use some love.

    How to join the event:

    • Event is hosted on EU servers
    • Use /sqjoin CorwinCZ.3146 when the event runs
    • Find us on LFG, name Helping new players - XYZ
    • Join stream and use !squad command to get the text /sqjoin CorwinCZ.3146
    • Some events have requirements - HoT access, ICB access. Those will be sent in comment about specific event :)

    GW2's Achievement API may have leaked something; Possible Roller Beetle upgrade in EoD?

    A little context. I use an achievement-tracking site called MetaGamerScore, and it happens to track GW2 achievements. Recently, it seems that everyone on the site who plays GW2 randomly scanned two new achievements called Words of Mending and Beetlemania. I couldn't find any mention of these achievements on the wiki.

    Words of Mending has no description, but Beetlemania does, and that's the most interesting part. The description reads: Collection: Help Gorrik make a new friend. (Collect the items Gorrik asked for to complete Petey's guided evolution.)

    This leads me to believe that we may see a new Roller Beetle upgrade in EoD, or at the very least they're replacing one of the achievements from LW4. What do you guys think?
