    Why is a BiP standard?

    Posted: 04 Aug 2021 02:08 AM PDT

It feels to me like everyone is running a BiP these days. I don't see why. The obvious reason is to provide energy to teammates, but:

    - Ritualists have Essence Strike, Spirit Siphon, Boon of Creation and Signet of Creation
    - Mesmers have the entire Inspiration trait line, plus Guilt/Shame/Arcane Conundrum
    - Necromancers have Soul Reaping, plus Signet of Lost Souls
    - Elementalists have Glyph of Lesser Energy, plus Glowstone/Glowing Gaze/Glowing Ice/Shock Arrow, plus Aura of Restoration if really necessary
    - The other professions aren't so important in teambuilding. The AI also seems rather reluctant to BiP Rangers (not sure about the other martial professions). Monks are the only profession that could use it, but few teambuilds include Monks.

The AI also seems to prioritize using BiP on me, even though I seldom need the energy and often have nothing to do with the energy anyway.

The cost of including the BiP is that you must run the N/Rt healer, which is not a big cost (although it is still a cost; I'm currently trying to cut this template from my teambuilds), and that the N/Rt healer must have BiP. The latter means no Icy Veins (with associated higher Soul Reaping), Discord/minions, etc. Blood Magic does bring Strip Enchantment, but BiP still gives up on Ravenous Gaze. There is also the very annoying problem of having to rearrange skills in 4-man or 6-man zones.

The benefit is that one can include less energy management on these heroes. However, I am rather hard-pressed to find skills that I want to include instead, e.g. instead of Essence Strike one could run Spirit Boon Strike, but it's not that much better. The one exception is Shatter Hex, but that spell is at its best for melee players and even caster players are running BiP. I guess there is also Spiritual Pain, but on paper at least it's not as though Spiritual Pain is a good spell - it's more of a "run this because there's nothing else" spell, so the cost of dropping it for the likes of Power Drain / Leech Signet / Drain Enchantment is not that big.

I am wondering how people came to conclude that the BiP hero is worth it. Were BiP-including builds directly tested against no-BiP builds? If so, what zone was used, what were the results?

    Primary Profession-only Team Theorycraft

    Primary Profession-only Team Theorycraft

    Hey everyone!

On another team build post of mine, u/S4G2020 brought up the idea of a single profession team. This is my attempt at trying to solve a full team comp that doesn't need much tweaking from area to area. It features Paragons and lots of spears, Orders, and lots of condition and hex removal from the 4 caster mid/backline. Without further ado:

    https://preview.redd.it/ybucoz4pj9f71.png?width=616&format=png&auto=webp&s=9163ce8f33260d8f9c5d1ea6070c69df958d49d2

The build features huge prot, big spike potential if the spears are micro'd, AoE from MoP and Splinter Weapon, Mesmer shutdown and a lot of pressure relief from the paragon skills. Energy management is helped by BiP and multiple Zeal chants. They may be a little overkill, but I find BiP tends to over-sacrifice when the caster struggle with energy. As such, since the Paragons are built to relieve pressure, I thought they would prove useful. If not, I would swap them for a couple refrains, or IAS on the rest of the Paras.

I want to stress that I HAVEN'T tested this out in real gameplay, but the bars all look pretty strong and a variants on what I have run in the past. I tried to keep this without using any PVE skills. Obviously I would replace a skill or two on the Character bar in that case.

    Thoughts u/S4G2020?

    PvP Community?

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 01:40 PM PDT

I have really fond memories of playing PvP way back when, jumping into instant queues and ripping out crazy combos, big guild battles, etc.

Is there any PvP in the community worth checking out? Or is the game dead to the point where people just do PvE?

How does the experience of combat/PvP compare to what it was back in 2007 or whenever?

Recommended build for Assassin playing through factions only?

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 11:45 AM PDT

Been looking around for a factions only build that is proven to work well and I haven't been able to find anything. Anybody know of any good builds that work?

    Returning player questions about titles

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 10:36 AM PDT

    Hello fellow Tyrians,

I'm a returning player after almost over 10 years. I've decided to get LDoA, LS and GWAMM. Found some tutorials and wanted to ask where do I start and which way to go? Should I start with LDoA and LS (if they can be done together) and then head to GWAMM?

    Thanks.
