    Small rant about fractal etiquette

    Posted: 05 Aug 2021 06:03 AM PDT

This is not a major problem, but just a few thoughts on stuff that happens often enough to get annoying.

    1. If you join an LFG group advertising certain fractals, please don't change the fractal we play next to a completely different one. If you want to play a specific one, ask in chat or start your own group. Once I've switched to the one we play next, I'm not paying that much attention to whether someone changes it.

    2. Esp. if you play t1, there are a lot of groups with new players. Wipes happen. If you don't want to keep trying with that group, please just say so or make some shit up, but don't just leave in the middle of a fight without saying a word. Nothing like teaching a new player about bosses just to realise it's just us two all of a sudden.

    3. Tell the others before/when you go afk. Preferably with the expected time you're gone. I've gone for a quick smoke in between runs before, and it wasn't a problem to just tell the rest of the group. But if no one knows, you're most likely to get kicked, because no one knows when/if you'll be back.

    4. If you're doing a training run with new players and list it in LFG, mention it. Same goes for specific goals that change the way you move through the fractal (like the MP in Solid Ocean). Related: if you join a training run, don't expect them to speedclear. Expect suboptimal play, expect wipes in higher levels. Don't get angry at them for not playing well while training.

I'd like to hear about others' perspective on these, your experiences and additions?

Can we have a Drizzlewood Coast vendor in the Eye of the North ?

    Posted: 05 Aug 2021 05:04 AM PDT

We already got one for Eternal Ice Shard and Hatched Chill currency but not for War supplies. Why not ?

It would be good for encouraging the material sink via buying daily charr commendation. Also to quickly buy cache keys directly from the eye of the north, stocking for a futur meta run.

18:14 EST was the first time I saw it. I waited 20 minutes and it didn't reappear...

It stays for about 3 seconds.

How are we the first civilizations to kill elder dragons?

    Posted: 04 Aug 2021 11:16 AM PDT

So, like most, I'm replaying through the Story thanks to the current events and something came to me.

I get that, arguably, the main difference we have in our cycle is Aurene, but she wasn't there for either Zhaitan's or Mordremoth's deaths.

The cycle before ours had, among others, the Mursaat and the Seers; and looking at what they left behind it sure feels like they were more advanced than we were. The Seers' Bloodstones? The Mursaat's Jade Magitech, Soul Batteries, and ability to straight up phase their entire race out of the material world? God knows what the Jotun were capable of. or the Lupici.

And yet, they lost. They went to war but the Mursaat were skeptical enough to flee, the Seers were exterminated, the Jotun abandoned their magic and the society that was built upon it and returned to the stone age... And that's just the cycle before ours.

The next logical argument is that EDs do get sometimes killed and that their offspring take over, but so far the few with which we've conversed with have boasted having been around for many cycles, which inherently implies the one before ours. You'd think they would have at least taken one or two down, lord knows Zhaitan wasn't exactly hard to kill- Just hard to get to.

Anyway, I know I'm being nitpicky about a story that has changed directions many times, I just thought it was an interesting, well, thought.
