What's going on with the game today?

Literally unplayable lag constantly in all LWS4 maps. Trying to finish hearts but sometimes none of my attacks register or do damage and then I'm suddenly downed from full HP. Mounting up/dismounting takes forever..

    Peak 2020 GW2 Fashion?

I droppped out of WoW, gonna start this game. Can you explain to me what the endgame is?

    Posted: 10 Dec 2020 02:21 AM PST

and I was wondering if the game forces you to rush like wow when it comes to gearing up or progressing trough endgame progression systems, or is it more laid back?

To give reference to what I am about to ask I would say that wow isnt a solo friendly game and thats not a bad thing but I was wondering compared to wow would you say that gw2 is a solo friendly game?

How to find raid groups that allow "beginners"?

    Posted: 10 Dec 2020 07:36 AM PST

    Hello there,

I'm aware there might some posts about that already on this sub, however I guess I haven't found the answer I'm looking for.

My question is simple, how does one find a group that allows "beginners"? In other words, how does one acquire their 250 KP/LI (usually there are a fair number of groups asking for at least that on LFG) in order to join LFG groups?

I put "beginners" into brackets because I have been introduced to raids (I've done W1-4 twice with 2 guildmates who recruited other people in the LFG and no one questionned whether I had the 250LI, which I didn't of course), I've watched countless videos on mechanics, I know my character really well and my DPS is usually amongst the top of the groups I've been in for fractals and raids (especially when little mechanics are involved.. as I'm still not an expert for those).

Any tip/answers would be helpful. I'm on EU servers.

    GW2 Tourism

    Posted: 10 Dec 2020 05:22 AM PST

    Howdy folks!

Since we have most locations from Guild Wars 1 available right now, we can also visit a lot of PoIs that are particularly interesting regarding the world's lore. Some may have played GW1 or read up on the lore in the wiki, but some may not.

Let's say you have a bunch of buddies that are interested in finding out more about the history of this world of distractions and wanted to tour them around. What kind of locations would you take them to? Think of it like being a tour guide and post a few destinations and the history you'd tell them, but be careful about checking your facts properly. I'll start with one:

Dhuum's Last Stand in the Cathedral of Eternal Radiance is the ossuary where the former god of death, Dhuum, was felled by Grenth and the seven mortals who accompanied him. Even for a god of death, Dhuum's reign in the domain of the dead was pure tyranny, with the god himself consuming the souls of the perished, hunting those who escaped death and cracking down on both resurrection and undeath. After overthrowing the tyrant, Grenth would take up his mantle and become a god who would treat death as a part of the journey a soul will make. His seven companions became his avatars, one of which can actually be met in GW2's story depending on the choices made by the commander.

This has been happening ever since I got the game! I can't join raids and I get dc'ed out of certain maps (ie. divinity's reach, tangled depths, auric basin, gendarran fields). I deleted and reinstalled the game countless times and contacted support. Nothing helped. What do I do next? Please help!

Looking to upgrade my pc for GW2 approx $500

    Posted: 10 Dec 2020 02:05 AM PST

Title. I recently purchased an ROG Radeon RX 580 OC 8GB GPU, so that will definitely be staying in the build, but I'm looking to replace my CPU, which will necessitate a mobo and RAM upgrade.

What's going to be my best bet here? I know very little about computers. From my understanding and experience, my graphics card is pretty good, and GW2 doesn't need a better one.

I see everyone talking about needing a good CPU for GW2, so I'm looking at most of the value going towards a new CPU. I have only looked at a few because it's quite overwhelming, but the one that I was considering was an i9 coffeesomething, which had the highest single thread speed I could find (which I understand GW2 is highly reliant on).

Does anyone have any additional suggestions for motherboards and RAM? I'm also unsure if I've got the right idea in terms of CPU. TIA for any help

LS5 needs more Sylvari PoV (Spoilers)

    Posted: 09 Dec 2020 10:03 PM PST

Despite getting an entire expansion dedicated to them, and Sylvari being the focus of LS1, and LS2, very little has developed about them as a race, and we're still left without many answers.

Mallyck is still up in the air, we have no idea what's going on with the Nightmare Court, the Pale Tree is apparently in a coma for the past 5 years, and we don't know what's going on in the Grove post-HoT. We still don't even know quite what the Dream is supposed to be.

The last time we got any lore on Sylvari was the Siren's Landing release, where we saw Sylvari NPCs who felt empathy for the Risen and wanted to communicate with them. During Bazaar of the Four Winds, we also saw a Sylvari NPC meditating in order to overcome his trauma of Mordremoth and silence the voices still in his head.

Being ex-Dragon Minions (as well as a hivemind), Sylvari have the most unique position of all the 5 main races of Tyria, who should give more insight into the mind of dragon minions. But nothing much came out of that. We still don't even know Mordremoth's goals.

Fastforward to 2020 and we're interacting with Jormag, who is openly presenting their influence like it's a force for good in Tyria, and being diplomatic with the Charr and Asura, even pulling the strings behind a potential Frost Legion.

The main cast of characters are left wondering whether or not to trust Jormag, but... Don't Sylvari already have first hand experience under an Elder Dragon? Shouldn't Sylvari be extremely cautious of Jormag and valiantly side with the Norn due to knowing the pain and manipulation Dragons cause?

One could suppose many Sylvari joined the Crystal Bloom. But the amount of actual dialogue we've gotten from Crystal Bloom is... basically nothing. They're one of the only NPC factions without much if any dialogue attached to them, with exception of a few generic npcs used in dragonfall escort events.

Why are Sylvari so absent from the plot? Their perspective is perhaps one of the most critical for contemporary storyline.

Question about a Deadeye build on Metabattle

    Posted: 09 Dec 2020 04:00 PM PST

    Hi guys!

I'm levelling a thief and will pick Deadeye as my first elite.

    I have a question about this build : https://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Deadeye_-_Rifle_Skirmisher

The author suggests trait 3/1/2 in Trickery. All 3 traits are Steal-related.

As a Deadeye, isn't "Steal" replaced by "Deadeye's Mark"?

If so, how are these choices the best picks?

    Thanks!

unpopular opinion: all events should scale so the game is harder and dailies easier.
