QoL: Merge the ascended-mat gobblers into one neat item!

    Posted: 08 Sep 2020 06:15 AM PDT

Here is a wiki link to all current gobblers

I use my gobblers daily, but I'm always coming back to my back to use them, since I often use only the ascended mats ones. Would it not be an amazing thing to see, if we you could merge together all of these gobblers into a single one, with a menu similar to the Gleam of Sentience?

    I'm thinking specifically of:

    • Herta
    • Mawdrey 2
    • Princess
    • Star of Gratitude

Perhaps make it into a small quest in which Zomoros lost his mechanical tooth pick or whatever, and when we find it, he grants us this combined gobbler!

Just had an amazing experience in a public strike

    Posted: 07 Sep 2020 03:11 PM PDT

DISCLAIMERS: * My English is bad.

    • I'm also a fairly average player. __________ It was my first strike. Just randomly decided to try one out, well aware I was most likely going to fail. The strike in question was Boneskinner, today's "Priority Strike Mission."

First guy that joined was only mastery level 20 or so. I decided instead of discouraging him I'd let him try. The two of us started chatting (mostly me describing what I'd seen of strikes so far, not much). We danced and had a fun time until more people joined.

Once six people had joined, we engaged the boss. SPOILERS, it didn't go so well. I'm fairly sure none of us knew a single mechanic of this fight, but still we tried. We went down like a sack of bricks at roughly 97%. It was bad. But we talked, strategized and we managed to get him down to 92%. Better, but still not remotely good.

We left and rejoined to get more players. Whist waiting most of us played music and did emotes. Even one or two jokes were made.

At 10 players we decided to go again. This time we looked up tactics (stick together, don't go for the torches, actually have a dedicated healer.) It went much better, we managed to take him down to roughly 85%. I know probably not a spectacular achievement by anyone's standards but I know I sure felt like a god at that moment.

We tried a few more tries until we got the best run of the night. After many trials and tribulations (and smart-ass jokes) we managed to get him down to 72%!

Unfortunately after that one of us had to go, and the rest soon follow suit.

I know this is not a significant achievement or a particularly riveting story but I wanted to share this because It was the first time a have actually met random people in an MMO and instead of them immediately leaving when it all went to shit, we actually took the time to strategize and get better together. It felt amazing.

I of course added them all to my friends list and I hope I'll get to play together with them again.

(The mastery level 20 guy was actually a fairly good player, he had definitely extensively played another MMO before.)

(Robmart.7438 if anyone wants to add me for any reason :) )

What if you could set golems to have raid mechanics?

    Posted: 08 Sep 2020 01:48 AM PDT

Just a thought, but what if you could set golems to not just be a dummy, but have raid boss mechanics. This way everyone can practice raids whenever they wanted to. Maybe set the golem on a timer, example: 8mins, and every set period of time boss phases would occur and you'd have to do them correctly. And maybe when timer finishes you get a token that proves you finished a certain boss practice, like after 7 mins of vale guardian mechanics you get the VG token. Maybe this way newer players can more easily get into raids (because now they have some sort of KP and have practiced bosses) and it becomes more accessible content for everyone.

Help Me Kill Drakkar the Fastest it Has Ever Been Done (Please, Lets Break the Record!)

    Posted: 07 Sep 2020 11:48 AM PDT

    Greetings, adventurers.

My name is Sneb, and I am a loyal follower of Jhavi. You see, my esteemed cult and I have been killing Drakkar basically daily (except when we don't) for about six months. Over time, we found new followers, have gathered attention from ArenaNet employees, and have been having a blast.

People encouraged me to stream it, so I did. It has been pretty cool, but that's not what this post is about.

    WE NEED YOUR HELP.

Our current record is 19:22 remaining and a loyal cult member offered a bounty if we can beat that record TODAY. That bounty?

    A CHAK EGG SAK (INFUSION).

So, without bugging Drakkar (because I have seen it done with 24 remaining but we call our runs "glitchless"), I need immense DPS power, Chronomancers for portals and quickness, alacrigades, and firebrands, druids, and zerkers for might and banners and spirits,

Look, I am not very good at the game, I admit. Heck, I am basically just some pleb who kills a dragon every day and does a weird culty thing with it, but I would really like to beat this record and give away a chak egg sak. That seems cool... I have never even held an item that valuable.

One hour after reset we do the run. I will be online about 30 mins before reset to start prepping. If you want to have some crazy fun and can help us, please message me: snebzor.4851

God speed, adventurers. May Jhavi pour her blessings down upon you.

TL;DR: Please help me kill Drakkar at a record time so I can giveaway a Chak. Seriously, this could be epic. Tonight 1 hour after reset, forming about 30 to 45 mins prior. Whisper snebzor.4851.

EDIT: This is on NA (Yes, we are filthy plebs).

A lot more attention these last few months?

    Posted: 08 Sep 2020 08:59 AM PDT

Its possible that I'm just getting targeted videos on YouTube and there have been this many content creators without my realizing it, but has there just been a surge of people making GW2 videos lately? And not getting a small number of views, I've been seeing 36k in a day on some videos. It feels like since EoD and the Steam release hit the public more folks are looking at GW2 than ever before.

Again, maybe just targeted ads, but hmm

Comparing builds that are recommended for soloing difficult Open World content - is there any that rivals the power of Condi Weaver?

    Posted: 07 Sep 2020 10:44 AM PDT

I've been delving into the realm of soloing open world content after getting bored/burned out on CM Fractals & Raids. A build that's stood out to me is a Condi Fire Weaver build capable of soloing the Champion of Balthazar HP in less than a minute.

It offers impressive burst, survivability, and access to CC, while also boasting good mobility and sustained damage. I delved on this subreddit and other resources like Metabattle/scrolling through Youtube and found a few other builds that can sort of compare:

    • Condi/Tank Scourge: Has even more survivability, at the cost of lower burst and overall damage. Made for a good Champion of Balthazar run, but in my experience from running this build that lacking damage made some bounties/legendaries impossible due to their timegate. Surviving was no issue but it just doesn't output enough damage - anywhere from 2-4k DPS usually - to beat the timer.

    • Condi/Tank Herald: Similarly to the Scourge build, this build boasts impressive survivability and even higher damage than the Scourge, though still lacking behind the Weaver build. I'm assuming that some Trailblazer's pieces could be swapped for Vipers to try and match the Weaver's condi pressure.

    • Shortbow Condi/Tank Renegade: Similar to the previous build, this specific iteration was what allowed Teapot to duo Boneskinner amongst other insane feats. Only difference between this build and the previous one is greeding a bit of damage out of Kalla and Shortbow due to the self-buffs they give, despite the slightly lower survivability due to a change in weapons (No Shield), and lack of Glint's insane healing.

      • Glass Cannon Barrier Scrapper: The real standout power build that I could find, it manages to maintain a decent amount of DPS in comparison to other power builds I looked into (Power Spellbreaker/Soulbeast) because due to the high amount of barrier this build generates, it doesn't need to swap in Knight's pieces to survive like the latter do.

The rest of the builds I looked into (you can picture nearly every 'Condi' build that is run in end game content but completely geared with Trailblazers - Firebrand, Soulbeast, Mirage - and likewise with 'Power Builds' that have some sort of survivability with Knight's pieces swapped in) either didn't do the job very well (Reaper was a standout here! It's great for general Open World content, if not the best due to it's high health pool and quick AoE burst, but it's sustain is surprisingly low in comparison to the aforementioned builds) or just got outshined by their competition.

I'll pass the discussion off to you, what build do you consider the King of Soloing Open World Content? I think it's hard to argue against Condi Weaver, once mastered it rolls through any and every challenge, though I will say that Condi Renegade has also made an impressive showing. I personally think that delving into the builds for Open World content has been a blast - way more than I thought it'd be - as Open World content allows for build diversity. Full Viper's or Full Berserker's will usually get you killed, you need to swap in tankier statsets and can experiment with different ones (I had fun toying around with Rabid, Dire gear for my Weaver as well) and since every Champion or Bounty can have unique attacks, it's almost like a learning experience with every new bounty. It allows for builds that are usually left in the dust (Herald) to shine, and I'd recommend any serious end-game player to give soloing bounties a try!
