Reminder that anyone can still be banned for receiving a mail with RMT gold attached to it unsuspectingly

    Posted: 13 Dec 2019 05:58 AM PST

Anet will take the gold/stuff and might slap you with a ban like it happened to these guys who had no ill intent whatsoever.

    • This guy used to announce some pretty popular HP runs on this subreddit and got slapped with a ban after someone tipped him RMT gold.

    • This one thought it would be funny to purchase RMT gold and have it sent to his friend who got a 30 day ban.

    • This lad bought a Chak Egg Sack on the exchange for 20K gold. Anet took away the chak and banned him. He recently made a video explaining everything. Btw, this ban happened after Gaile said that a recipient's account wouldn't be banned for getting RMT gold. And a month later he's still high and dry.

Look, I'm not saying that ignorance is an excuse nor that RMT stuff shouldn't be removed from the game since it's not good for the economy, it's the same shit irl, I get that. My point is that the punishment is too harsh for the unsuspecting recipient. Not only the recipient loses his stuff, but he gets a ban which flags his account thus making subsequent bans harsher or even permanent. Even more so when there's no way for anet to know that you bought the gold straight from an RMT trader, nor for you to show anet that you didn't cause the transaction happened between a third person and the RMT trader.

This might make some folks worried since many players have traded stuff through the mail at some point in the past, others get tips from many activieties like JPs, HP runs, or sell raids and stuff on the exchange subreddit, many guilds run raffles (more so on Christmas), etc.

Btw, I don't think that anet's policy of considering everyone guilty until proven innocent is aceptable, nor it is being paranoid and wary of friends, guildies, and everyone else thus not acepting a single e-mail.

Also, let's not forget that most players don't read reddit so they won't even be aware of all this to begin with.

Announcement to GW2 NA Raiding Community

    Posted: 12 Dec 2019 08:40 PM PST

It has been a long 3 years but my time as the instance opener has come to a close. This week will be the final week that I will have instances for people to purchase. I am sure that many of you have noticed that I have not been online or advertising as much in the last few weeks. I have since made the decision to just stop providing the service.
I wanted to say thanks to you all and I am sorry that I will not be providing this service any longer.
I make a personal plea to the Developers to implement a system where people can get their instances once they have cleared a wing.
For anyone wanting to take the time to take over the legacy, I wish you the best of luck. The raiding community has always been appreciative to me for the service I am just unable to dedicate the time to securing instances in a timely fashion any longer.
    Happy Raiding to you all!
Thank you again for the last 3 years!

    Duo Langmar Estate Guild Puzzle

    Posted: 13 Dec 2019 07:01 AM PST

Hello, we just started discovering guild content this week. Since we needed some favor and just a few ppl were online we tried to duo the Langmar Estate Guild Puzzle.

    First Room
Really easy, just use weapon swap to cancel the searching and don't trigger any of the mobs
    Second Room
Just sync portals here. One Mesmer should use Mimic on the Portal here
    Third Room
This one is a bit harder. First stack some swiftness that will make your life a lot easier. SOI and consumables can help here a lot. Place a portal on the furthest higher curtain on each side. One Mesmer should have a portal ready here the other one should use Xera Portal. Pulling the curtains open is a bit tricky. After the first curtain was pulled there is like a 0.5sec delay until other curtains can be opened. This is why one Mesmer is taking blink here to make it in the 4sec time window. You also want to take care of the NPC. It is really hard to target the curtains and if the NPC is in front of them you are going to talk to him instead of opening the curtains. Now quickly memorize the emotes, open the portal and just hurry.
    Last Room
The poison damage here is condition damage by real poison. We are using healing gear with inspiration and chaos traitline, so we can heal each other with the mantras and gain regeneration when stealthed.

    Has Jormag been impersonating Glint?

    Posted: 13 Dec 2019 12:09 AM PST

This would assume that the team had been planning the Icebrood Saga well in advance. It's not out of the question, since we knew season 5 was coming for a very long time, but there are a number of minor points that might have been pointing at this. It is a bit crazy though and I doubt this is true, but it's fun to think about. If this actually is the case, then I'd have to give genuine kudos to ArenaNet.

    • In Whisper in the Dark, Jormag is shown to have corrupted three spirits of the wild a long time ago. The spirits were known to have traveled between Tyria and the mists frequently. But this would imply that Jormag had infiltrated the mists years ago.

    • The enemies in Bjora Marches during the meta literally come out of mists portals.

    • It's heavily implied that despite hibernating, Jormag knows how to project herself out of her body. She enters the Raven Sanctum invisibly through a celestial-themed portal (more mists imagery) and enters the Fraenir's body to control it.

    • Kralkatorrik's control over the mists was considered a huge world-ending deal, but Jormag's ability to do this is not seen as unusual at all. Is this lazy writing (I hope not) or is it foreshadowing?

    • During the conversation as the Fraenir, Jormag suggests she's met Aurene in person before.

    • Glint took Aurene elsewhere to tell her something about the elder dragons in All or Nothing. We never found out what this was. It was a very deliberate break in the conversation from Glint speaking to both of you, to her taking Aurene away from you and talking to her in private. In the same episode, they made a point of showing Glint's corpse. In Whisper in the Dark, they make a point of showing you twice that Jormag can infiltrate and puppet corpses.

    • The magazine ad for Bound by Blood gives an overview of the Icebrood Saga's story beyond just that episode: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/september-04-2019/

    Notably, it says:

Get ready for an escalating series of twists and turns that will eventually lead you into the Shiverpeaks to confront not only Jormag, but also the unpleasant truth that Elder Dragons aren't exactly what we thought they were.

So there's an implication there that the Saga isn't actually just about Jormag, but possibly about what Aurene was told by "Glint" back in season 4.

A lot of the stuff about that episode and this one seem very odd when taken together.

    Trying to get into raids

    Posted: 13 Dec 2019 02:10 AM PST

    Greetings Redditors

I've been trying to get into raids for a couple of days, however im not a part of some big community in game hence im trying to rely on LFG

When im searching LFG all I see is people asking for 100+ kill proofs for the very first raid section..

whats this all about? how can I start raiding weekly?

P.S. I have all characters with full ascended gear, so builds and equipment shouldn't be a problem

[Lore] Do we know what actually happened to Istan?

    Posted: 12 Dec 2019 12:16 PM PST

All this time later and I'm not sure we got an explanation for the geographic changes in Istan. Now obviously creative liberty is a thing, and ANet wanted the map to look interesting, but I'm not sure that all of the changes can be chalked up to that.

Most specifically, the Chahbek Thrust, once the Chahbek Village, is situated on top of some pretty steep cliffs, where it used to sit very near sea level in GW1. But it's also marked by a deep gash in the ground filled with tar, making the furthest edge of the village slanted, as though it's about to tumble off into the ocean.

A lot of the rocky structures around Istan have their sediment layers at rather extreme angles, which, as far as I'm aware, is pretty uncommon unless something pushed them around after they formed.

All of this leads me to ask: did Istan get hit with some kind of catastrophic earthquake between GW1 and GW2? Is the tar pit evidence that Joko caused it somehow? Am I reading into this too much or was there some kind of unspoken narrative told in the environment?

Are guilds even a thing anymore or what ?

    Posted: 12 Dec 2019 04:06 PM PST

Me and a friend were trying to find a guild but couldn't find any to join.. he ended up quitting really quickly before really giving the game a chance just because we couldn't find a social guild and our other friends refused to play with us.. really sucks because I truly enjoy this game, but would love to be apart of a social community here and actually learn more about the game !!
