IS THIS WHAT I THINK AND HOPE IT IS

    Posted: 12 Feb 2022 05:35 AM PST

The fractal reward changes are horse shit.

    Posted: 11 Feb 2022 02:51 PM PST

    Context: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/guild-wars-2-end-of-dragons-strike-missions-balance-and-rewards/

If you felt like raids and strikes werent rewarding enough then the problem lied there not with fractal cms being worth running.

Hell you even say in the blog post that fractal cms were the only source of ingame mystic coins as if that was a problem only to then make the eod strikes be the only source of coins (ignoring completely ibs strikes lmao).

You also cut down the weekly clovers by 4 and make them more expensive in therms of coins needed (the thing we can no longer get from fractal cms).

I dont mind buffing raids and strokes but you went about this exactly like you went with dungeons and fractals back in the day. Zero lessons learned.

As the title says, what a bunch of horseshit.

Edit: At this point i dont see anet fully reverting it and i dont think they should, what is horseshit about these changes is that they are so heavy handed and primarily hurt the endgame cms community. So to that end i wanted to make this more constructive and add some suggestions:

Keep the new clovers recipes they are good value even nerfed like this and keep them capped at 10 per week, i suggest however adding back to the fractals cms and introducing to the raid cms 10 mcs for each (per week). This would incentivize ppl to do the hardest content in the game by giving them enough mcs for half their weekly clovers.

For someone that does their eod strikes, their fractal cms and their raids cms this would total at around 15 clovers per week. While every part of the instanced pve scene will have access to discounted clovers and the strikes will even give coins to the masses fractal and raid cms will also reward the dedicated endgame players with some.

This, does a couple things, one, adds more evergreen rewards to raid and fractal cms and also will give anyone who does all 3 15 clovers per week as opposed to 14 you get rn exclusively from fractals, 1 more clover for substantially more and varied gameplay. This also manages to be a nerf to anyone who farms fractals exclusively as they will be only getting 5 clover a week as opposed for the frankly quite generous existing system.

Edit2: holy crap thank you kind strangers

Why are only the EoD strikes getting to purchase mystic coins?

    Posted: 12 Feb 2022 12:35 AM PST

They could add a perfectly acceptable purchasing option for fractal relics, magnetite shards, and blue prophet shards in addition to the green ones.

Ignoring the extra material costs and time gating:

it costs 10 green shards to buy a mystic coin, and 30 to buy a clover.

Using this logic, shouldn't it also apply to blue shards?

along the same line, why not also 10 magnetite shards for a mystic coin, or 50 fractal relics for a mystic coin too?

Would that not be effectively the same cost just different currency? The currency cost for a mystic coin is apparently 1/3 the cost for a clover with green shards, so should it not apply to all the other methods of purchase?

Did ANet give a satisfying reason for removing mc's from play content but leaving login farming?

    Posted: 12 Feb 2022 04:13 AM PST

    Title mainly.

They say a major source for MC's was Fractals, and I agree. My main source for them were the tp and fracs. I only have 1 account and did cm's every day (currently taking a break until eod is released).

But I cant really wrap my head around why they'd remove mc's from play-content and leave login now as the major source of mc's.

While I understand people with a lot of accounts and always had the outward mentality of accepting it as allowed and everything, having multiple accounts will never have anything to do with playing the game. You arent able to play multiple accounts at the same time.

You will of course be able to play content for more rewards, but still only playing the game.

Now they removed rewards from play, and left it for account farming, which already was viewed as: we'll do it because it's allowed and easy.

Does anyone have redeeming and explanitory views on this decision?

Edit: Guys, everyone understands that ANet likes money and wants people to buy multiple accounts. But thats not satisfying at all, and neither did they say that. Thats why I cant wrap my head around it.

Edit 2: I have been told to not ignore the mc's you can get from strikes in this post.

I'm still not a happy puppy about them removing good rewards from hard content and letting login farming be untouched in what is the first time they addressed mc generation in game in a long time. It is still not satisfying.

End of Dragons Strike Missions, Balance, and Rewards

    Posted: 11 Feb 2022 02:02 PM PST

The new reward changes work against players.

    Posted: 12 Feb 2022 04:34 AM PST

We got Mystic coins removed from high end content so we now:

    • Can spend 20 coins in Raids, 10 coins in strikes, 20 coins in Fractals per week
    • Can get 10 coins from strikes per week

We can spend 50 coins per week and can get 10 coins per week.

How people are defending this, is beyond me...

Yes, more people are gonna do these for more coins but then players that did content to get them now have to PAY gold/$ to get them.

    This is ultra bullshit...

Fractals where my go to content and they just made it not attractive.

They could have just added coins to other content and let people choose what to do.

The way they now FORCE players to do strikes, means people won't care about their quality as long as they give coins which makes me believe, new strikes are gonna be bullshit.

Dungeons, and being a new player

    Posted: 12 Feb 2022 01:20 AM PST

Gotta say, out of all the great experiences Iv had with the game thus far (5 days into the game) Id say that dungeons have been the worst part by a large margin. Completly miserable experiences all around. No one talks, everyone is just trying to blitz through them so I never have time to watch the dialogue sequences. People don't even wait for you to pick up your loot, and if you die because you didn't have the forsight to cheese mobs by standing on a object, well, guess your shit out of luck buddy, cause no ones reviving you. Back to the waypoint for you.

Now look, Im not entitled or anything, I don't expect people to just feel obligated to help new players, because I get it you know, Iv been a MMO vet myself. It gets tiring after awhile. Both with helping new people, and doing the same content over and over a thousand times so now you just go on autopilot. So Im not really blaming the players themselves.

Im more blaming Anet to be honest. They know this is the first group related content most new players like me are going to experience, yet from what I can see, they treat the content just like the player base does thanks to their additudes on dungeons, which is that it was a failed experiment, do it or don't. Which isn't fair to people trying to get into the game.

So yes, I do know that dungeons are abaonded content, and fractals are the new "dungeons", but most new players that don't do any research wouldn't even know that, so as an introduction to group content, it's absolutely not a good one. Anyways, just wanted to get my thoughts out there, thought it might be some good insight to a new players experience for the vets of the game.

Endgame rewards should be spread out

    Posted: 12 Feb 2022 06:25 AM PST

    • Intro I believe that the current endgame rewards changes are not good but do have some merit that can be built on. I will not argue how many mystic coins should drop as those numbers are ultimately arbitrary. I do believe you should earn enough mystic coins weekly to convert to the max weekly clover limit, and I think it should be done by asking the player to do a variety of endgame, not just one. This post is made by a player who has 12k ufe, one set of legendary armor, and every legendary trinket. I used to grind out endgame, including pve metas, daily. I got burned out due to the rewards system, so I think we should go one by one.

    • Fractals I feel like the big problem with fractals is that the rewards are too good. This is not to say I want fractals to reward nothing, but I think the daily reward system should be altered to ask you to do less fractals. I used to do CMs + T4s + recs everyday. This takes about an hour and rewards about 40 gold according to fast. Doing the same three CMs daily can be fun but after about 6 months I just got bored. I think a healthier solution is for the game to ask you to do only one CM daily and it rotates. This respects the players time and allows them to do more content other than the same 3 fractals over and over. I also do not really enjoy the randomness that comes with getting mystic coins. I am not a very lucky person and I often low roll my mystic coins. I think a solution could be the same as festival dailies. Complete the daily cm achievement X times and it will reward you Y mystic coins.

    • Raids The problem with raids is that the reward is essentially just liquid gold and LI regardless of encounter. Magnetite has a good earning process and being limited on the amount you can earn is fine. The problem is that magnetites best use has always been to buy ghostly infusions and sell them for liquid gold, or whatever is the most profitable at the time. Adding mystic clovers is a good start but this will not make players excited to do raids. My solution is to use the call of the mists. For those who don't know, CotM increases the rewards of two raid wings weekly. In addition to the current rewards you can add mystic coins for full clearing, to incentivize raid groups to full clear wings they may not otherwise. Currently there are many groups who just do easy LI runs, not really full clearing the raid wings as the profits are the same for killing Cairn as it is for killing Dhuum. This also makes LFG better for raids as that there are too many raid wing options, asking players to do two raid wings weekly will ensure that those two raid wings will have an active playerbase rather than it spread out across 7. I also think the current CM system of allowing players to choose any 5 CMs forces players to just do the same 5 CMs that are the easiest to clear. I think asking players to do one rotating raid CM weekly is a better solution.

    • Strikes This part is speculation as the EOD strikes have not dropped yet and we don't know the reward rates compared to the playtime. I do think that the IBS strikes should also reward clovers/coins. I don't really have any solutions I just hope the IBS strikes will still be rewarding to run daily/weekly.

    • Dungeons The thing about dungeons is that I do not think they are fun to clear and are unbalanced. If anet were to look back and rebalance them, well it could be a good place to spread legendary rewards to. For now its far fetched.

    • Dragon Response Missions As someone who has done every single DRM achievement, I think they have the potential to be really good. Currently they are paced awkwardly and are skewed on the easier side even in CM. I think this could be a good option to give legendary rewards to if they were to make proper polished DRMs. Currently as they stand they are somewhat fun but with barely any rewards.

    • Leyline Anomaly I am making a section for this since I believe this encounter is just bad. It was clearly not designed for 50+ players and it is not a challenge whatsoever. You do little other than autoattack, pull anomalies, lag, and wait for the two minutes of boredom expire. This event does not respect the players time as it only spawns once every two hours, and if you are not playing at reset you need a wiki or that one item to know which map it will be on. If you login 10 minutes after the event and only have an hour to play you're shit out of luck. I think a better solution is to have it spread across 6 events that occur once every 20 minutes. You can only earn your mystic coin once and its from any 6 of those events. It spreads the population to different maps. With the current changes Leyline will be extremely lucrative to run but it is so dull.

    • Metas I think there should be some form of PVE reward track that also rewards legendary items. This can have great potential as there are so many metas in the game, and asking players to run specific ones is a good motivator. This area is very open ended and anet has a ton of options.

    • Conclusion I believe the rewards should be spread out across all game modes. EOD strikes and NAKED MAN should not be the only sources of mystic coins and there is potential to give other game modes time. Weekly vendor resets over daily are also a good change. Telling players what to do weekly gives direction and good variety on all of the content the game has to offer. The game currently asks you to do about an hour of fractals for the best rewards when that hour could be spread out across multiple game modes. Giving a single daily fractal cm reward also keeps that content relevant and rewarding while opening up time for strikes, raids, etc. This post is not to argue that mystic coins should be easier to get either. If there are too many ways to get mystic coins they can always reward shards that can be transformed into MCs. Don't Concentrate mystic coins into one gamemode when it could be spread out. It is very easy to get burned out doing the same content but with as much variety as gw2 has its sad to see that anet is asking you to just do strikes as the only consistent way to earn mystic coins.

Video aimed at getting new gamers to give GW2 a shot

    Posted: 12 Feb 2022 02:28 AM PST

I have been playing Guild Wars 2 on and off for a few years now.

Coming from the glory days of Guild Wars 1 I can appreciate why some people are hesitant to give the Guild Wars franchise a shot thinking that you need to have played 1 to understand it or that they simply are not entirely aware of what GW2 has to offer.

So to try and combat that perception, I made a video explaining why to me, people should give Guild Wars 2 a shot.

I hope I have done the game justice.

Compensate fractal cms for mystic coin removal

    Posted: 11 Feb 2022 10:38 PM PST

I can understand if you want to keep inflation of mcs (and clovers) in check and spread this key resource to new content but please don't let fractal cms die like dungeons by gutting their raw gold rewards.

Please add something like 3 gold per cm per day to not kill all the hype for EoD. Fractal cms will die like dungeons otherwise.

Banners and spirits to be nuked, finally

    Posted: 11 Feb 2022 02:31 PM PST

"Warrior players have been telling us for years that they'd like to be something other than a banner warrior in groups! We agree, and we're going to rework banners and spirits to fit our shared boon system and open new options for warrior and ranger players. Both professions will have access to new boon support roles using revamped banners, spirits, and related traits.

Unfortunately, due to time constraints and work on new elite specializations, we were unable to make these changes for the Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons launch, and we're planning to make them part of a larger profession update and balance patch coming this summer. Until then, banners and spirits will remain as they are and continue to have a 10-target cap."

Credited Music Team for End of Dragons: Maclaine Diemer, Drew Cady, Michael Choi, Sojin Ryu, Bryan Atkinson, Steve Pardo, Andi Roselund, Lena Raine, Bobby Brader, Jarryd Elias, Bobby Rose, Emily Schultz and more...

    Posted: 11 Feb 2022 04:11 PM PST

So, I have done some serious digging on various internet sites, and found a list of people that are credited for the Music for End of Dragons - there may be more people that contributed to this soundtrack, but I don't know their names.

    __________

End of Dragons' music is heavily focused on Korean traditional music - Gugak. Which will be combined with synth and orchestral music.

Its folklore has roots in Chinese tradition (just like Japanese), but of course music from Korean is not the same as from Japan or China! :)

I have personally been very interested in East Asian music ever since I was 17 years old (I'm 24 now), so the instruments and overall feel of folklore of those regions inspired me many times. I am very happy to see that the GW2 team was inspired by Korean folklore, which I knew less about, than Japanese or Chinese for example.

So I spent some time over the few months to know more about Korean music, so I could also make nice summaries and commentary, once I play End of Dragons and record all the music for everyone to hear.

    __________

Maclaine Diemer has been composer for GW2 ever since Season 1, when Jeremy Soule (that composed many amazing soundtracks for Guild Wars 1 and original Guild Wars 2) stopped making music for Guild Wars franchise. Together with Stan LePard and Lena Raine (Chappelle, also known as Kuraine) composed the music for many Living World Seasons and expansions.

There have been many other composers that occassionally composed music for Path of Fire, Season 4 and the Icebrood Saga - Brendon Williams, Willbert Roget, Garry Schyman, and also Chris Burgess.

    __________

The soundtrack for End of Dragons was composed by:

    - Maclaine Diemer - known from his cover of Fear Not This Night 2018, but he composed 80% (around) of Guild Wars 2 music (post Jeremy Soule)

    - Lena Raine - known from her original and widely known synth music for Minecraft, Celeste and many other games. She started off as a sound designer back in Season 1, and composed tracks such as: Battle on the Breachmaker, Mordremoth, Blish music, the Golden Cave, Hearts and Minds. She said she composed a single track for End of Dragon, which certainly will be something extraordinary to hear!

    - Bryan Atkinson - is the composer for trailers. He joined Arenanet back during the Icebrood Saga, and composed the music for Jormag Rising, Truce, Judgement trailers, and now also the music from End of Dragons Gameplay Trailer.

    - Michael Choi - His contributions are still very much unknown, but him and Andi Roselund both worked on the music that plays during trailers for Bladesworn, Shing Jea and New Kaineng, which represent beautiful Gugak music in its splendor: https://youtu.be/a1mRJwgLLGU

    - Sojin Ryu - Her contributions are also still unknown, but is the composer at Arenanet https://www.instagram.com/p/CZdjQTtuOIx/

    _________

    Other credited artists:

    - Andi Roselund (known as Mihran) - is a musician that works closely with Michael Choi and Maclaine Diemer on various Gugak related music pieces. https://soundcloud.com/michaelchoistudio/squid-game-ost-way-back-then-gugak-cover-traditional-korean-instruments

    - Jerryd Elias - as far as we know, he orchestrated "Soojung Heights" by Maclaine Diemer

    - piri_kyoungtai - a Piri and Taepyeongso player

    - SOl(솔) - Korean singer - https://youtu.be/MVdi0oHvksw , https://www.instagram.com/singoflight/

    - 정겨운 (Jung Gyu-woon) - Haegeum player, https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8zGcA7o2U1TTu3j1Z27I7Q/featured

    - 박연희 Yuny Park - Gayageum player, https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0j5Kk__cWKpJPV8XN5Phag

    - Steve Pardo - I don't know how involved he was in End of Dragons music

    - Bobby Brader - as above

    - Bobby Rose - as above

    - Emily Schultz - as above

Here is a reference post: https://www.instagram.com/p/CZd3uD-BKX2/

    Also check this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/sqbtkq/end_of_dragons_soundtrack_has_63_new_tracks/

On February 18 both Maclaine Diemer and Drew Cady will talk all about End of Dragons music, so it's going to be very exciting to know more about all the artists, and music they all created for End of Dragons :)

We really need the Screenshot-Function (Drone-Mode) from Jadebots to be unhinged from Terminals!

    Posted: 11 Feb 2022 04:03 PM PST

It saddens me to hear that such a cool function is bound to terminals which aren't available globally throughout Tyria.

Pleeease give us something like a small gadget with which we can activate drone-mode from anywhere in the world. Limit the range to a certain distance and let us roam freely with our bot within that diameter so we can take screenshots like never before! Even better, give our Bot the ability to cloak itself so we can even take screenshots from the perspective of the drone in third person.

Blistering undercroft glide down hiding spot

    Posted: 12 Feb 2022 02:53 AM PST

This is the secret (not so secret) hiding spot that can be accessed BEFORE the keep is taken. It is entry by gliding from the top above Blistering Undercroft keep in red borderland, while the keep is still owned by your server. It is not a cheat but it is hard to counter as the player once the keep is taken are not marked. It is easy for a mesmer (or class with portal) to port a group from north or south into the inner area and hit the lord before the keep is contested. And even me with my poor mesmer skills can do this (and has done) . Cheers Donna Morris. and don't flame me for doing this, it's unfair if it is an unknown spot.
