Guild Wars 2 has to be the game that gets the closest to translating concept art to reality. Posted: 17 Nov 2021 07:44 AM PST I am a new player, but I wanted to express one thing I think is cool about this game. Every time I am walking through a new zone, I feel like I can see the concept art behind the environmental design. So many areas feel striking, dramatic - like you are walking through one of those fantasy cover-arts that got your imagination running as a kid. It rarely feels generic - there's a sense of wonder and complexity to it. Relatedly, Divinity's Reach is probably my favorite city in any MMO - it looks like an actual city, not just the vague impressionistic suggestion of a city, or a collection of merchants. There are winding streets and neighborhoods just for the sake of there being neighborhoods. There are out of the way fountains and plazas. As much as I love and still play FF14, it does not feel nearly as good to just walk through and explore as GW2. The only game I can think that competes is Destiny 2, which also trades in pure aesthetic drama. [link] [comments]

I really hope that we will be able to enter lots of houses in EoD Posted: 17 Nov 2021 07:17 AM PST Hey, with the recent preview of the Jade-Sea, I once more noticed lots and lots of closed doors and that makes me a bit worried. I love entering and exploring houses within Tyria and Elona - especially Elona! Small hidden places that tell you about the culture and lifestyle of the owner and a refuge where you can linger for a while and take a small break from your stressful job of saving the world (again). Also - altough niche - GW2's roleplayers love houses for obvious reasons. What do you think about accessible houses? Is it something you'd wish to see or do you simply not care about that? Return To Raids after Return to Living World? Posted: 17 Nov 2021 02:30 AM PST Had a cool idea to fill the gap between the final Return To and EoD - a series of 'Return To' achievements for the raids that reward bonus magnetite shards and ascended gear. Would be cool to have a 'Return To The Forsaken Thicket' with a handful of achievements tied to the wing. We've seen how much the Return To achievements have revitalised Living World maps week to week and kept players engaged - a similar system here would work nicely! EDIT: This of course would not be required for Seasons of the Dragons, would be a seperate thing [link] [comments]

Future Canthan collapse? [Lore speculation] Posted: 17 Nov 2021 06:35 AM PST Prior to any revalations regarding Cantha, it was always the Perception the the Asura and the Charr were the major Technology hegemons in Tyria. However with the reveal of the Cantha's Dragon Jade tech it looks to have blown the combined technological might of the Charr and the Asura. In one frame of the Echovald forest trailer(or one segment of the life stream showcasing it) , I noticed items that resembelled Television's which makes me wonder how far the Canthan's have eclipsed Mainland tyria(as far as we know of) own Industrial and technology. Fittingly the Charr utilize steampowered/ combustion engine Technology, using little to no magic. Whilst the Asura use Magi-tech, I dont recall how the got that working or the in-game science of it However in significant ways they outpace the Charr Technology wise. And then we have Cantha, Using the wonder resource "Dragon Jade". Mined from the Jade sea, its seems to power everything and is used almost universally, yet the Jade sea is only a certain size. How much Dragon Jade can the canthans extract until there is no more? Surely its a finite resource right? Cantha looks to be a very powerful empire that could quickly change things through numerous channels on mainland Tyria {Economic and technalogical might, Exporting dragon jade products, if inclined they could even Empower the weakened human nations on mainland tyria?} Seems like a very compelling mystery, The Jade sea trailer already shows us that there is still alot of Dragon Jade to go through. Is Cantha's Technalogical supremacy going to last longterm? Will Cantha, in its inability to mine more Dragon Jade(assuming its a finite resource) in the future find a way to diversify itself away from total reliance on the "Wonder Resource"? or is cantha's reliance on this seemingly finite resource a ticking bomb? The charr I imagine can still power their industry through steam and may (Ironicaly) find natural energy alternatives in the future. So they could still weather the storm of Cantha's Dragon Jade tech supremacy. The Asura have Magi-tech and as far as we know, Magic (as a resource or energy{?}) wont vanish anytime soon. Will Cantha's Technalogical empire stand the test of time? [link] [comments]
