Noxious Pods should be added to the home instance

    Posted: 19 Jul 2021 12:48 AM PDT

As most people know, there is one home instance node for each HOT map. Verdant Brink has its Airship Cargo, Auric Basin the Exalted Chest and Tangled Depths the crystallized supply cache. Dragon's Stand with its Noxious Pods however, has no home instance node.

Every time I farm my home instance and pass by the three nodes I realize this and it kind of bugs me.

I think it would be a good idea to bring this node into the game. It certainly has no high effort and you would have one more reason to play this one-hour META

[Expansion] Inventory Manager - End of Disarray

    Posted: 19 Jul 2021 03:00 AM PDT

Thank you Guild Wars 2. You have been making a very difficult time better, and my story is just one of many like it, I'm sure.

    Posted: 19 Jul 2021 02:48 AM PDT

I got GW2 when it released, and I remember creating a Norn Ranger and starting out on launch day. Man, was that a buggy mess, with maps filled to the brim with people crowding hearts and events. I switched to a Human Warrior soon after, and he became my main. I've been playing on and off, sometimes diving in and going all out for a few months, other times logging in occasionally to do a few events or join in for the fun festivals. I'm mostly a casual gamer, so endgame content was never in my sights that much (Raids, legendaries, that sort of thing). I also really disliked Ranger for some reason. I loved the class, the pet was just annoying and I wanted to play a trapper type character without the pet (By the way, I love the pets now).

I started dating my girlfriend January 1st 2020. Corona started blowing up, and our country went into a heavy lockdown late in March 2020. We scrambled to get her old pc fixed the few days after lockdown was announced (we were given a week's notice I believe). We ended up getting her set up, and GW2 was free so we had started playing that. Gaming together was the one thing we could do during the lockdown where it felt like we were sitting next to each other. She learnt really quickly, and in no time we had finished the story, gone on to the expansions, and then ultimately finished the Living Story to the present. I started a Norn Ranger and she started with a Norn Thief, and those characters have been going strong as our mains. We took photos of our progress, and while we couldn't be next to each other to take selfies, we had our characters pose in front of pretty environments. Being able to game together like this prevented us both from becoming too depressed during a time where we couldn't really see anyone, let alone each other. Now we get to sit next to each other and play GW2 among other games, which is one of the best feelings in the world.

A while ago we decided to start Chuka and Champawat. I've never been serious in considering doing a legendary, but the tiger-adorned shortbow is beautiful, and perfect for her Norn Thief. I'm switching back to a Warrior as my main (Charr) and I won't ever really use Chuka and Champawat to be honest, but taking this journey in making a legendary has been the most fun (if sometimes frustrating and soooooo expensive) journey with my girlfriend. It will probably be 2 or more years before we can start on our next legendaries (casual gamers don't amass that much gold and mystic coins as quickly XD), but I am so happy we are doing this one together.

Just wanted to express my appreciation to Tyria for all the good times and for being an amazing place to visit with the love of my life while the real world is slightly broken and shut off. And to everyone in Tyria that has helped or just been friendly towards a blue-haired, badass Norn Thief and her bearded Norn Ranger partner, thank you.

Why do we not have a MELTDOWN megathread like other gaming subs?

    Posted: 19 Jul 2021 03:42 AM PDT

Some other gaming subs like /r/wow have a MELTDOWN megathread where people can get in a rant the lungs out in a civil manner to get things off the chest.

It would probably get some rant posts out of the way and provide a funny escape for the rest of us.

The forum profile banner has changed, possible EoD hints?

    Posted: 18 Jul 2021 08:11 PM PDT

I went over to the forums today to update my signature after I hit a new WvW rank title, only to find that there was a very familiar looking banner sat right in my face.

The creature is (almost?) identical to the very old "Tsunami" concept art by Daniel Dociu from way way back.

Notice the lady from the Sunqua Peak reveal image too, and the Canthan-esque cherry tree off to the side?

I figured I'd post it here since I didn't see anything else about it, and it's a great way to get hyped for EoD!

Big shoutout to all the teams that participated in this fantastic event, amazing performance and display of courage from each and every one of you.

ALSO a huge shoutout to everyone who made this event possible, not only the players but also the organizers, the people who contributed to the prize pool, the twitch viewers, the teams who streamed their PoVs for the event and obviously to ArenaNet for making a piece of content that provides us with such big entertainment value.

This is only the beginning of a new era of BIG COMMUNITY EVENTS so be on the lookout for those.

Do you have a class that you want to love but just can not?

    Posted: 18 Jul 2021 08:32 PM PDT

Hello everyone I hope you are all doing well.

I have always wanted to play a warrior as I played one for the majority of my time in Gw1. However, warriors and I just cannot seem to stick for one reason or another. Maybe it is my being full berserker like a bookah or just straight up being a bad player.

Thought I would ask the good Redditors of GW2 if they have ever ran into a similar situation.

Have you ever really tried to get into a class but in the end, you could not get it to stick?

For the love of god, add a map-reservation-slot-on-disconnect feature.

    Posted: 18 Jul 2021 03:39 PM PDT

I'm sitting here in an empty Tangled Depths map due to disconnecting and then reconnecting <1 minute later - spending all that time doing the pre-event and then disconnecting due to shoddy internet during the actual boss fight and missing out on rewards is some bullshit.

Thank you for bringing back Season 1 events. I've been clamoring/suggesting their return for some time now. Marionette event, along with Escape from LA and Battle for LA events are some of my fondest memories of GW2.

    Posted: 18 Jul 2021 05:42 PM PDT

I'm sure a lot of other veteran and returning players also miss playing/experiencing it with other players. And those who have completely missed it the first time can appreciate it now, especially the new recruits to the game. Marionette event, along with Escape from LA and Battle for LA events are some of my fondest memories of GW2. In fact, these events rekindled my itch for some Guild Wars 2 adventure. For those who don't know, these events are the beginnings/idea origin for the 'map wide events and progression system' that we currently have now and is being copied by other MMORPGs.

Inspire SAC not rallying downed players.

    Posted: 19 Jul 2021 07:35 AM PDT

During the Twisted Marionette Fight, once you dealt with your guardian you can use the special action key to [Inspire] wich boost your allies and also rallies downed players. BUT - It doesn't really do that for me. Do I need to target them? Or do they have to be in my subgroup? I had multiple instances when I looked directly at the downed (not full dead) player on a neighboring platform, hit inspire, but nothing happened. Am I doing something wrong?

Is there any *actual* lore on the Mists War?

    Posted: 19 Jul 2021 05:39 AM PDT

Talking with the NPCs doesn't help much. "What's the Mists War?" "It's the war in the Mists!" "Who are we fighting?" "The enemy! From different realms!" "Why are we fighting them?" "To win the war!"

Who's behind it all? Who's commanding these armies? Who's supplying them? Why are they fighting instead of sending diplomats? What do the various realms stand to gain or lose from victory or defeat? What, in terms of game lore, is the point?

(I know the actual point is an excuse to have giant brawls with other players and capture objectives and generally have fun, and that the game is called Guild Wars and not Guild Diplomacy Simulator, but, like, in terms of game lore and background story, why is any of this happening and to what end.)

What should I do? Back to Guild Wars 2!

    Posted: 19 Jul 2021 06:51 AM PDT

Given recent events, I am sure there are a few players that jumped ship from other MMO's to enjoy the world of Guild Wars 2. The last time I played Guild Wars 2 was 8 years ago. At this moment I have a few level 60 characters in lion's arch. I am so lost... What do you recommend I do or where should I go?
