Je Pull [Rise] 5 Man Dhuum CM

    Posted: 14 Jun 2021 12:17 PM PDT

    We're back again!

Last year we came up with a 6 man Dhuum cm kill, including a chronomancer and a druid dedicated to support four other players. Now we wanted to push that further : a five man Dhuum CM. No chronomancer, no druid. Only your favorite most broken classes, renegade and firebrand.

    Our strategy

Like last time we knew a lot of thought would be needed to pull this off cleanly. We had to balance our focus between; safety for the ritual phase, enough damage to not enrage the boss, and utility to manage the many mechanics.

For the pre-event, we had to utilize soft cc more often as we did not have a source of stealth to keep the reapers safe. Throughout the fight, we also intentionally exploded bombs earlier than normal to force the next bomb on certain people to maintain more dps from the other players. This was useful for both the pre-event and the main fight.

Aside from the sprinting monster attempting to kidnap your team members, one of the key differences in challenge mode is the inability to heal the reapers. This difference alone makes the disparity between normal and challenge mode quite extreme. If proper attention is not paid to the deathlings, they will quickly destroy a reaper and end the fight early. This was one of the most important aspects of the fight. For the earlier parts of the fight, where we are positioned closer to the throne, we used the bomb mechanic as an opportunity to clear the deathlings. However, any significant amount of time away from the boss put us at risk of no longer meeting the dps check to prevent enraging the boss. To deal with this, later in the fight, we placed the lesser deathmarks in specific positions. This allowed us to tank more towards the middle, which in turn enabled us to clear deathlings, without taking our attention away from the boss.

The Living World Return for season 3 is starting on the 29th, not next week

    Posted: 14 Jun 2021 01:33 PM PDT

As detailed in the news post today.

As the Pact fleet readies its assault against Mordremoth, there's one missing piece still locked away in Caithe's memories. This is the final episode of Living World Season 2, and leads into the Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns™ story. Living World Return will continue on June 29 with the first episode of Season 3!

So this sounds like it's adding another week to allow for people to play through HoT if they're catching up (and probably a week break if not). It also sounds like the return to Season 3 will be 1 episode at a time, since it says "the first episode of Season 3" and not "the first two episodes of Season 3." So assuming that there's also a break like that between S3 and S4, this seems to put the end of this replay in late November.

You are granted one wish by Qadim but he'll corrupt it somehow. What do you wish for?

    Posted: 14 Jun 2021 10:35 AM PDT

Hello, /r/GuildWars2 friends. Another popular reddit "game" here for this week, corrupt-a-wish, but this time we'll make it GuildWars 2 themed.

Ask away what you would like to wish for and someone else will comment a way to corrupt it. Anyone can contribute so have fun and let's see how creative our community can be!

    For example:
Person: I wish there was no more Icebrood Saga moving forward.
Qadim: Wish granted, now it's renamed to "The Cantha-brood Saga".

    Amalgamated Lodestone recipe advantages

    Posted: 15 Jun 2021 08:26 AM PDT

So there is this one collection that awards two crafting recipes for Amalgamated Lodestones. But as far as I know you can also make them the same way in the Mystic Forge. Does this mean the only advantage of collecting these recipes is another crafting interface where you can state a specific amount of items to craft?

Could we please have standard-player/mount models for open world meta-events in PvE as we move into End of Dragons?

    Posted: 15 Jun 2021 08:20 AM PDT

I tried doing a meta-event train this morning.

All the ridiculous visual-noise and pollution are not only disruptive to my gameplay experience; they're making me feel physically ill -- dizzy, nauseous -- and I couldn't deal with it. Games are supposed to be fun, and they shouldn't be making you nauseous because other players want to flaunt their fashion-wars and sense of style. The game's always had a certain level of visual freedom, but visual freedom shouldn't come at the expense of other players being unable to consent to your fashion choices; or at least, tone them down.

    Players should have more agency in determining which visual effects they want to entertain. In practice, I've often felt like I'm held prisoner when I'm becoming increasingly dizzy and nauseous due to all the mount-spam. The only way to get around it is really just to leave the the squad, the party -- whatever, and that begs the question;

"Is being unable to control your visual experience in GW2 fun?"

I don't really want to deal with a game that effectively has no integrity for providing a visually consistent player-experience that doesn't make players sick. I don't have this problem in sPvP, Dungeons, Fractals, Strikes, Raids, but going back to open world meta-events after such a long hiatus -- only really having experienced meta-events before mounts?

Not having the option to turn on standard-player models and being forced to render and entertain obnoxious particle FX is asinine. GW2 has always been liberal with visual effects; allowing players to don legendary weapons, armor, infusions... The thing is, right now? I'm walking away from this meta-event thinking: "Wow, I really don't want to experience this in End of Dragons."

I very much enjoy Cantha's aesthetic in GW1; Shingjea Monastery, Kaineng City/Outskirts, the suburban metropolis/slums, The Echovald Forest and the Jade Sea. Maybe I'm alone in this, but I really don't want to see it polluted by micro-transaction focused eye-candy (unless I have the option to turn them off). The creative expression these sorts of fashion-choices and micro-transactions enable is fine in moderation, but in condensed maps, locations and environments -- looking away isn't an option.

What was really great about Heart of Thorns (and still is) - from a design perspective - is open space and open terrain. This claustrophobic sense of visual noise and pollution doesn't have the same impact on me when players are allowed to spread out. More and more often, map-design in GW2 lends towards these condensed spaces where everyone has to run around looting chests in dangerous, hostile environments; mounting, dismounting, remounting... surely there's a point where too much is too much?

... and surely there's a way to minimize this player-behavior where constantly juggling/cycling mounts is the best way to play.

So, again, can we please get Standard Player Models & Standard Mount Models? GW2 has taken strides over the past several years in allowing players to manage their own unique sounds (and that of others) but visually the game has been sliding further n further off the deep-end since Path of Fire. It's legitimately at the point where I don't want to do open world meta-events unless there's sufficient space that my screen isn't covered in some sort of headache inducing, tie-dye armageddon every 30-45 seconds.

Sketches of some of my characters

    Posted: 14 Jun 2021 11:00 AM PDT

    Is this game story based?

    Posted: 15 Jun 2021 05:56 AM PDT

I just started playing on free trial, and created two characters with different races. It shows different beginning stories for different races I think. But after that it's just completing quests.BTW as far as I can see the quest system in GW2 is awesome. It's much easier to turn in the quests than in any other game.

However personally for me lore and story are one of the most important things in a game. So I wanted to ask if there is a certain way to play this game or is there a story at all?

Edit: Everyone thank you for your replies. I think I know what MMORPG I should spend some time on lol.

So should I do the living world stuff and build my elite spec(s)or just jump into the xpacs? The reason I ask is some of the story stuff in PoF can get frustrating solo. Hell, even act 1 chasing down the Herald is nuts. Or, do I just suck? Thanks

Small Application Update for GW2 Tool Hub v1.1.1

    Posted: 14 Jun 2021 12:45 PM PDT

    Hello :)

It has been over a couple of weeks since I first launched GW2 Tool Hub desktop application. Shortly after launching the first version I began moving to a new home and was unable to continue working on the application. But, now that I am all moved in updates will hopefully be more frequent and larger.

This is just a small update, but I wanted to release it as it does fix one important issue with the naming of tabs for the material tracker and a couple smaller things.

    Full Change List: https://github.com/Michael-R-R/GW2_Tool_Hub/issues/4

More information and to download the .zip Installer: https://michael-r-r.github.io/GW2_Tool_Hub/

Important: I currently don't have a automatic updater, so for anyone that has downloaded the previous version you must first uninstall the old version and then rerun the new installer. Any saved Notes and Material Tracker .txt files will still be compatible.

I also want to remind anyone that may be interested that this project is open source and I encourage anyone regardless of experience to help out and contribute to making this the best project that it can be. For more information see my previous reddit post: https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/nm8qpu/gw2_tool_hub_is_now_open_source_and_ready_for/

    Happy gaming!

Achievement Hunting: A long story of me not doing much about it.

    Posted: 15 Jun 2021 06:36 AM PDT

    Hello, friends!

I've been putting off achievement hunting for too long, and I'm going to start wrapping them up starting with HoT, specifically The Dragon's Reach.

Feel free to hop in. I'll be going on and off the next two days to catch up.
