It'll be something different, but thinking back -- I really enjoyed leveling at an accelerated place while playing in a semi-competitive environment. Sometimes people did karma-training, other-times groups sought out fun fights. You got familiar with various commanders that prioritized fights vs. relaxed karma training etc etc Granted, I suppose this was maybe 5 years ago now? It occurred to me that much like the Mad King's Labyrinth in October that I really enjoyed Edge of the Mists, and for all intents and purposes it's pretty much a deserted wasteland if I'm not mistaken? I don't know. I feel like the map serves zero purpose these days. What do you guys think? Edit: Perhaps I was wrong about excessive travel, but my memories of EoTM are far superior to regular WvW; especially as someone that never got solid FPS in regular WvW. I think arguing over whether EoTM was or wasn't WvW is semantics; you can karma train in WvW too. Edge of the Mists carved out a community that wasn't really super interested (or compatible) with regular WvW to begin with. ArenaNet axed EoTM and didn't do anything to make WvW more attractive. People are talking about how EoTM was too profitable. Would it be too profitable now? I highly doubt it. EoTM came before Multi-loot Octovine, Palawadan/Istan or Dragonfall. Where's the harm at this point? At this point I wish they staked EoTM or re-designed it in its entirety. I had a lot of fun there, and I think it's a shame that ArenaNet seem content to let it rot much like they abandoned Stronghold. I have specific memories of several guilds that would intentionally seek out fights, and that's what those commanders were known for. Anyway, I miss the sense of community, pick-up/plug-play and I'm bummed that it's basically a dead map these days. I think ArenaNet over-compensated with their nerfs and removed more value than they added with consistency related changes. It just feels like, "What's Edge of the Mists even doing there now?" Okay so it sees some niche use for GvG or something, but the rest of the map is just wasted real-estate?! [link] [comments] | ||

Speculation on what was the original plan for Icebrood Saga. Posted: 15 May 2021 11:57 AM PDT So I've been thinking about what the original plan for IBS probably was, and I came up with what I think is a likely idea on how it would have gone. We know from the IBS portal tome that there were originally 4 more episodes planned for IBS after Jormag Rising(later replaced by the 4 Champions releases). Based on this, how Episodes 1 and 2, and 3 and 4, were each one half of one map/one story, and the IBS trailer, I would guess that Episodes 5/6 would have taken place in the Centaur homelands. Episode 5 could have started off like Champions does now, with Taimi calling us to Rata Sum, Ryland showing up and getting in with the Asura for Jormag, and then Primordus's destroyers attacking. However, instead of going into the DRMs we would have gone to the Centaur homelands, under attack by destroyers(as dialog in the EotN indicates). There, and in episode 6's continuation, we would have gotten most of the same story beats we got in the DRMS like
Either at the end of episode 6, or as a Visions of the Past style update between episode 6 and 7, we would have had a longer version of Braham's volcano journey to become Primordus' champion. Episodes 7/8 would have been the big Dragonstorm meta map akin to Dragon's Stand, and Dragonfall. The Pact, Crystal Bloom, United Legions, and Centaurs, would have been the big forces there attacking the dragons as an "Alliance of the Far North" sort of situation. The meta would have likely ended with the same overall thing we got in the Dragonstorm event, us beating on the champions to pull them away from the dragons, so that they are forced to destroy each other in direct combat. This makes sense IMO because, if you look at all the past Elder Dragons, they have all followed the same basic format.

I was curious if on top of daily log ins if I were to use launchbuddy to run meta chains with all accounts would that be A. Kinda immoral bullshit, and more importantly B. Bannable? As far as I know only the crafting of the pouches requires 475 cook, but not the planting and gathering. [link] [comments] |
