Mini-Rant to people doing Strike Missions

    Posted: 18 Feb 2021 08:00 PM PST

This is going to be a mini-rant because I need to get this out of my system. Based on the general theme of posts on this subreddit I feel like I'm likely to get called toxic and downvoted into oblivion but I want to give it at least 1 try.

I PUG my Strike Missions on NA every single day. I tag up and fill the squad with all the support roles we need. All these players, while definitely nowhere near perfect, play their support classes good enough let a decent squad pull through. They are also flexible with their builds when requested, and most importantly all play useful builds.

After filling the squad with those people I change the description to look for DPS and the squad fills up instantly. And this is where the problem comes in. The last 2 weeks I've been able to actually finish all 5 Strike Missions 3 times, despite spending around 20 minutes to form a squad DAILY. Because of the sheer disaster that is people playing ''DPS''. I'm talking 30%+ damage share (I play DPS myself), in a 10-man squad. Tempests doing less damage than the Druid, despite (yes, I can't believe it) playing a DPS build. Scourges, Reapers and as previously mentioned Tempests are enough to make me immediately lose all hope, but everyone gets a shot, because I hate kicking people trying to learn. And don't get me wrong, this isn't 1 or 2 people per squad, that would be perfectly manageable, it's literally 90% of the DPS players that join up. I'm not expecting everyone to roll down 60k DPS on bears, but to roll in and deal 5k DPS is making things a little ridiculous.

Which bring me to the point of this thread... DPS is also a role in the squad. Joining as DPS isn't the role where you get to do nothing. If you join an unorganized disaster and want to wing it that's fine, but if you join a squad with people that are perfectly set up to provide the support YOU need to succeed, don't roll in with some unprepared clown shit, because in my opinion THAT is toxic. If you are newer to the game and want to play DPS, PREPARE. The druid had to prepare and learn his stuff to keep your might up and keep you alive, the firebrands had to prepare and learn their stuff to give you aegis/quickness, the alac had to prepare and learn their stuff to give you alac/stab, you do too. Yes DPS is the lazy role, but there's a limit to how lazy you can be. If you join a squad with 0 preparation and no clue as to what you're doing then you're wasting everyone elses time too. If you run a build that you invented yourself and you THINK it's good and does a lot of damage, then put it to an actual test, try it on the DPS golem and see if it does, because odds are your build does absolutely nothing.

Anyway, sorry for my rant. I doubt this will be taken well. But instanced content in this game is on it's dying breath, especially on NA, and the sheer number of lazy people trying to join in on the potential fun are actually just completely ruining the experience. Playing DPS also requires some amount of effort. You owe it to the support classes in your squad to give them that effort.

Guild Wars support literally suggests me to forget about my own account.

Back in the days, I lost my account when someone stole my accounts' data. I submitted a support ticket and they restored my account with no issues, I logged in, set up 2FA, and haven't logged in for a week. When I decided to play I got an error with logging: " This account has been blocked for security purposes. Please contact customer support for assistance. ". Huh. Okay, i contacted customer support and got THE "assistance". Further messages were ignored as they said it would be. Thank you very much for THAT good assistance! I tried to contact it again about a week later and got the same reply. This way you lose all the stuff you bought, all the characters you have spent time on. They don't care about you nor your account. That makes me frustrated.

    THE assistance.

What if we ventured to westernmost Tyria? | Guild Wars 2 mystery

My biggest wish for GW2 is to implement official JOYSTICK CONTROL option.

    Posted: 19 Feb 2021 08:15 AM PST

I think a huge factor that prevented me from playing GW2's PVP and raids is how clunky the game feels with keyboard control... you need to dash around, block, carry out instant reactions decisions using various skills - and it is jst difficult to do so without joystick control.

Recently I have been playing Genshin, and the thing that I liked the game fully support joystick. Yeah I am aware the combat is designed with joystick inmind, and there are less keys to press in combat, but with L3 and R3 keys there are rooms for keys enough for GW2. I know there are already guides for GW2 joystick configuration, but it still feels cluncky with some classes and mouse/keyboard are still need in many scenarios.

    So what do you think?

    Why is it so different...?

    Why is it so different...?

Is it suppose to look like this? Why is the character in the equipment screen so different from your actual character?

    Legendary benefits and questions

    Posted: 19 Feb 2021 04:56 AM PST

    Hi people,

I've been mulling over the idea of crafting another legendary lately and I don't know what my priority should be. So I wanted to ask for your opinions.

As things are now, the legendary trinkets are very expensive to craft. I am not sure if the effort and time invested would justify crafting them. Especially when ascended trinkets are so easy to obtain. I guess I can see justification in going for the cosmetic auras these trinkets provide, but I personally don't find them that good looking. My stance would change immediately if Anet gave us the option to equip the same legendary items (armor, weapons, trinkets, sigils and runes) on multiple characters simultaneously - like a Legendary Armory.

Do we know anything about the armory? Is it coming with the expansion? After expansion?

My other option for my next legendary would be Kraitkin. Given we're going to Cantha soon and we have underwater content all but confirmed. Kraitkin can be used by most classes so it makes it the most viable choice for my 1st underwater legendary.

Another option would be to craft legendary runes or sigils - but the exotic ones are really not that expensive. Is there any stat benefit to legendary runes and sigils?

My last option would be to craft another set (different weight) of legendary armor. I'll have enough LI in 2-3 weeks.

So what would you say should be my priority at the moment?

Thanks for all and any feedback. I am just stuck and indecisive at this point.

What class is the best to start out with for someone with limited micro ability?

    Posted: 18 Feb 2021 03:27 PM PST

To keep this short I have a medical condition that makes any kind of rapid hand or finger movement in my left hand difficult and inaccurate until I have full muscle memory of what I'm doing. As you can imagine, this makes any kind of competent micro and hot key useage virtually impossible for a few weeks or months so I am more or less limited to how fast I can make the mouse fly around the screen.

Which class is the least micro intensive so that I can use it to train my hand?

Gear choices when levelling up (Guardian)

    Posted: 19 Feb 2021 05:49 AM PST

    Hi,

I'm fairly new at the game and have now levelled a guardian to 30+. I think this is the class I'm going to stick with for a while. I noticed that there is a lot of beginner gear available at the market - and for an affordable price as well. But: I'm not sure what to pick. So I'm looking fr an experienced player to confirm my line of thinking. Here it goes:

    • I play mostly solo or with a friend. Boosting Healing Power seems to be a bit of a waste, when my heals affect a low number of players.
    • Power, precision and Ferocity all increase my damage. But I don't know how to balance them. I play mostly with the great sword; so I guess my attack speed isn't high and Power is more important than Precision and Ferocity? (Crit percentage + damage seems to make more sense when having a lot of small attacks).
    • When I loose fights, I usually loose them, because there was a massive amount of damage at once or because I got confused and needed to long to choose the right skill for the occasion. Toughness and Vitality should help with that and buy me extra seconds.

From that, I think I'd prioritise Vitality and Toughness (is one more important than the other?) and sprinkle in power when I have the choice.

Does that make sense? Also, is there way for me to add Concentration to my stuff? I'd like to keep those boons going.

    Thanks!

For those who need money quick. VB Bauble week is here!!!

    Posted: 18 Feb 2021 11:22 AM PST

For those of you who don't know it yet, you can consistently get 20g per run. Each run is 1 hours and 15 mins long. There's a run every 2 hours and it lasts for a week. What am I talking about? Verdant Brink Poultry Farm of course. Good source of karma, xp, and spirit shards as well.

Hint: do the pre events, they are worth a lot if you can finish it in less than 20 mins.

P.S. got over 700g last bauble week in verdant brink from 35 runs.

    Returning mount skins

Fresh Level 80 Necro. What do I do now?

    Posted: 18 Feb 2021 06:26 PM PST

For context, I got to level 80 by mainly doing exploration of the Sylvari area and doing a lot of PvP (seriously, I got to level 80 due to only using tomes of knowledge).

But now, as a fresh 80, I want to try and get into the PvE side of things. I just want some direction on how to get into fractals and raiding as seamless and as fast as possible. I'm not sure if it still holds true, but as long as I can get Berserkers Exotic gear in the trading post, I'll be okay in the lower levels of Fractals? I also want to know how to farm out gold and masteries to get to raiding seamlessly.

I have all the expansions, so I can farm hero points for the subclasses (though I haven't entered any expansions yet.)

With End of Dragons coming, I really want to know how I can make GW2 my main game outside of PvP, and any guidance is appreciated.

    Triple Trouble EU

    Posted: 18 Feb 2021 09:51 PM PST

I'm relatively new to Guild Wars so I've actually never taken part in the Triple Trouble meta. Whenever the meta starts no one seems to take part, same story with Find a Group. I've searched for guilds or groups who may frequently do this meta but all the forms and posts are old and I can't get in-touch with these people anymore.

I'd just like to know if there's still groups of people who take part in the meta.
