I want to give something back to the community :)

    Posted: 08 Feb 2021 08:07 AM PST

    Hello Reddit!

I'm Jen, GuildJen, I believe most of you already know me as "Dulfy 2.0" lol

I'm very grateful at the support I got from Reddit these past months and I want to give something back, so I will do a giveaway with three prizes:

    First place: 250 Mystic Coins

Second place: 800 Gems (Sponsored by Arenanet)

    Third place: 500 Ectos

I don't pretend to gain anything from this, I could be using these resources in other platform to gain followers or traffic, but I decided to just giveaway here on Reddit, also I want to take this opportunity to share more about me and my project:

GuildJen is actually just me, it's not a guild as some might think by the name lol. I was actually a big fan of Dulfy and after she left I always had the idea to start something like this, to help the community in some way, because I used her guides myself too, just recently I got a push from a friend and I decided to give it a chance, GuildJen started in July 2020 so I'm still pretty new, but in this time I managed to do some relevant content and of course I became Arenanet Partner :)

I respect a lot the work people do in the Wiki as well, I personally use it all the time, but I also think content creators are necessary to offer more variety to players. Some might prefer the wiki, some others might prefer written guides, some others might prefer Youtube videos, we have to support them all because we all want the best for GW2. I'm not here to compete, I'm just doing my part :)

When some people compare me with Dulfy I take it as a compliment, but I'm trying to build my own style, only around GW2 and also cover other areas besides achievements and PvE, because I love this game and I actually play every game mode, I literally only play GW2.

I have been playing since day 1 and I play A LOT lol, even before creating content I have been always trying to teach people and promote the game, so now that I have the chance to get more visibility I'm doing my best to help other players to find the fun in GW2! Veteran players, returning players, new players, everybody!

My project is ambitious I want to cover everything about GW2, but the support and good feedback that I have been getting, motivates me a lot to keep working hard. Like for example right now I'm working in a series of guides about WvW, and I have a lot of ideas and pending stuff, but of course, every time there is new content or a new patch I prioritize to have the new guide as fast as possible :)

So I just want to say thanks for the support and good feedback, and to participate in the giveaway just comment here anything but include #GuildJen and your account name (for example mine Jen.6021) and I will use https://www.redditraffler.com/ to randomly select the winners in 3 days!

NOTE: To minimize alt accounting, I will restrict the giveaway to accounts created 7 days ago or older.

    TY <3

EDIT: Sorry I didn't know about the # symbol transforming the text into heading, but don't worry I just asked to type "GuildJen" to avoid some kind of bots lol :)

My friend and I have been spending a lot of time in dungeons recently and wanted to do some boss records, I hope this gives OG dungeon players a sense of nostalgia despite the power creep of the expansions. Please enjoy :)

Is Buying Old Living Stories and Current Worth It?

    Posted: 08 Feb 2021 06:41 PM PST

I was an on and off player for the last 5 years or so and am wondering if it's worth buying any of Season 3 LS and the Prologue of the current story...

I've kind of went out of order and played through HoT and PoF but went back to do the others and realized I'm missing a few of the chapters....should I buy them or just forget it and move on?

Was in game mail used more commonly in Core?

    Posted: 09 Feb 2021 07:06 AM PST

Seeing the new mail carrier available on the gem store got me to wondering: who buys these?

The only in game mail I get is either Gem Store deliveries, communication from NPCs (Living World, etc), or notifications of a birthday. That's it.

Now I may not be the most social person in Tyria, but 100% of my interactions with players are via in game chat, either map, whisper or guild, and via discord (voice + chat). I never get mail.

This is in stark contrast to my time in WoW where I got mail all the time; mostly from auction house deliveries or transferring items between toons, but also from guild mates and friends.

So I'm curious: was in game mail just more prevalent in the early years of GW2 and its usage has since died off, or was it always this way?

Are there bots in this game?

    Posted: 09 Feb 2021 05:30 AM PST

Whilst finishing off map completion I had 1 heart to do and a few max levels were just spamming attacks at a respawn location for low level mobs.

They wouldn't say anything and I came back an hour later and they were still there.

Is GW2 a good game for someone who wants to craft, trade, and essentially be a merchant?

    Posted: 08 Feb 2021 03:23 PM PST

Just curious. I'm most interested in trading and would probably pick the jeweler profession to focus on. Though on first look it appears you can't make a lot of gold with it?

Also, how P2W is this game or would that only apply to certain aspects? I'd really like to hear people's opinions on this topic. Even if jewelry doesn't bring in a lot of money, I'd still like to give it a shot as my main profession. Also not against combat either.

Anyways, do you trade/craft in GW2 and does it sound like this game is for me?

High-Spirited Assault on the Vale - Open Sign-Up Raid Training Event [EU]

    Posted: 09 Feb 2021 01:07 AM PST

    Hi all!

Welcome to the Reddit Raid Training event!

There's an obvious gap in game where people that are trying to get into raids hit quite the wall.

I hope to at least in a small way address that problem by running this event!

On Saturday 13th February, 7PM GMT+1, Ill be hosting a raid training on Twitch with sign ups from reddit!

The goal is to have people that have almost never done raids to partake in the fun, learn something from it and hopefully get a few kills in the process. Note I am far from the great player and really enjoy raids and teaching it to people. So don't expect a godlike performance from me!

You can sign up using this google form : https://forms.gle/iekMT7ArkwYK7pgs6

    Am I eligible?

As the goal is to teach new people to raids the expectation is that you have little to no experience within raids, we will be starting with Wing 1. If you have gotten several kills in wing 1 I would ask you not to apply. I could easily setup a way to verify this but there would be obvious ways around it so Ill just trust in your honesty.

    How do I prepare?

    1. Get Discord. Don't need a mic, although interacting on voice is encouraged! Push to talk will be required.
    2. Get as close to the role you plan to play in terms of build optimization, so you have to decide on a build and go from there. I am available to give advice if you care to ask on discord. You do not have to be 100% optimized but getting as close as possible is really important. You can find builds on https://snowcrows.com/.
    3. You will need the Heart of Thorns masteries, Gliding and Updraft.
    4. Exotic level 80 gear close to the snowcrows build of your choice.
    5. No infusions, having the correct runes, sigil and about 80% of the stats in gear is fine.

    Who will be chosen?

Ill be attempting to craft a cohesive composition for the raid, which means support roles will get first preference. If you do not get chosen you can always tune in on Twitch and join in on the fun anyway!

For those that are unfamiliar with the requirements of a normal 10 man composition for raids it looks something like this :

Tank (doubles as quickness/alacrity source generally)

Alacrity (double mesmer or renegade with boon duration)

Banner Warrior (DPS+banner buffs for precision and power/condition dmg)

Druid (for utility, healing and spirit buffs)

Secondary healer (for less confident groups)

Miscellaneous DPS. (some encounters will need condition damage)

    My contacts

    Discord : Novuake.9344

    In game : Novuake.2691

    Twitch : https://www.twitch.tv/novuakegaming

Feel free to ask any questions you might have or message me if you need any advice!

    Hey there!

I am offering PvP coaching to anyone below Platinum *(Free of charge, of course!)*I'm doing this in part because I enjoy coaching and figured this would be a nice way to uplift the PvP community.
