What are the real rules of this sub reddit? Posted: 08 Dec 2020 07:01 PM PST A few days ago I had a post removed for no reason. Sure, it contained spoilers, but I marked it as a spoiler and the rules state that it only applies to content less than 3 months old (while i was spoiling events over a year old). No explanation as to why the post, with over 70% upvotes and many comments was removed. Yesterday another post was removed, this time it wasn´t by me. It contained some jokes that got some people riled up but it was very innocent, really. Again, lots of comments and time spent gone to the trash bin. I read the rules on the right side of the screen and cannot see how these two posts broke the rules, so I am assuming that the rules are outdated? is there a new set of rules we should know about, before we waste our time posting things or comments that are only going to be removed? GW2 Achievement Hunting Recap -- Bound by Blood Posted: 08 Dec 2020 03:47 PM PST Those of you reading this probably saw my earlier post where I announced this series's inevitable existence, so here it is! If you haven't read that, you might want to for a little context. Note that I've changed the template a bit after receiving feedback. For the very first post in this series, I'll be taking a look at Bound by Blood, the achievement category for the Icebrood Saga's prologue and the first IBS map.Let's get started, shall we? Quantity (9/10)With a total of 80 achievements, Grothmar has a lot to do. The best part? There's a ton of variety in Grothmar's achievements. Every event in the map has at least one attached achievement, and three of its four metas have several. The map also has four adventures, hidden coins and listening devices, a bunch of achievements attached to the story missions, and quite a few for its Strike Mission. With this much variety, it'll be hard to get bored in Grothmar. The meta-achievement requires only 54 achievements, so you're given a decent amount of leeway to avoid achievements you don't like. Actually obtaining the meta-achievement is relatively easy, but will require you to go out of your way for a few, more difficult-to-obtain achievements. Challenge (7/10)There are quite a few challenging achievements here, so let's take a look.
Overall, the map has quite a few decently challenging achievements. One criticism I would bring up is that several of these are difficult only because they require a large number of players to coordinate. Sometimes, it doesn't matter how good of a player you are, you still might not get what you want. Other than that, none of these challenges feel unfair (except when Catch the Leaping Charr sometimes glitches out), and they fill my need for a challenge well enough. The Grind (8/10)I described two types of 'grind' achievements in my original post: those where you complete a daily task, and those where you perform an action a shitton of times. Grothmar has one of the former: Grothmar Tribune requires you to complete dailies in Grothmar 15 times. Grothmar has a lot of the latter, but the question is: are they good? Yeah, I think so. Most of these are related to the map's many events. You can get into a really good rhythm of running between the events to make progress, and since you're constantly doing different tasks, it doesn't end up feeling boring. I'll highlight a few of the especially grindy ones below:
Rewards (6/10)Let's go over some achievement rewards, shall we? Firstly, completing all of the Grothmar achievements rewards a total of 286 AP and 3 IBS Mastery Points (2 of which are Insights). Not a ton of AP in the long run, but pretty good for a living world episode.
Grothmar doesn't have many unique rewards, but the emote and T-shirt skin are pretty good gets. Note that you can obtain both of these from the Grothmar Valley Reward Track as well. CollectionsGrothmar has one collection: Merchandise Collector. It requires you to obtain the following items:
*Thanks to u/jenniferberry for this tip I happened to miss! The collection only actually requires that you obtain 12 of the 15 items listed. How to obtain all 15 is listed below. The first three items, Charr-only helm skins, can only be obtained as a rare drop from a "Recovered" Charr Artifact. All three skins are unlocked by just choosing one weight. The three shoulder skins can be obtained from the Shiverpeaks Pass strike mission. You must obtain all three separately. As of now, they can also be purchased from the Ebon Vanguard faction merchant in the Eye of the North, but this is liable to change. The four legion banners can be purchased for 1500 volatile magic and 100 hatched chilis each. You can earn three banners of your choice through the Grothmar Valley Reward Track. Voice of Metal can be purchased for 2000 volatile magic and 250 hatched chilis, or bought on tp for 158G as of now. The four exotic High Legion weapons (Flamewaker, Ashfall, Ironsight, and Bloodletter) are the most difficult to get. The only guaranteed method of getting them is a choice of one after completing Grothmar Tribune and a choice of one earned in the Grothmar Valley Reward Track. buying all four on tp costs a total of 60G. Overall (9/10)Grothmar Valley does an amazing job with its achievements. They come in a wide variety, and most are easily accessible to casual players. There's still a handful of challenges for veterans, and some long grinds for those that want them. While playing in Grothmar Valley, it's hard to do anything that won't progress an achievement. It always feels like you're accomplishing something, no matter what. Here's to hoping that's a trend that continues in IBS... (Foreshadowing? In my Reddit post!?) [link] [comments]

Thoughts about accessing DRMs from their respective map Posted: 09 Dec 2020 04:46 AM PST I've been thinking a lot about DRMs and their place in the in-game universe lately. This isnt about whether the actual mission content is good or not, imo they're fine, but rather about the philosophy of reusing old content and modifying old areas in the game. Now with DRMs being instanced, i think its a great solution to be able to alter the maps to a much greater extent, while not affecting new and oblivious players. And yet, i cant help but feel like DRMs are weirdly disconnected and feel more like fractals than anything else. I think the main reason for this is the fact that theyre only accessible through the Eye. now, youre being tasked to go and save all these remote locations, but you just pop right in from a completely isolated little zone, and pop right back again ready to tackle the next mission. There's no weight to it, and makes the missions feel disembodied from the game's world. I think having a way to access these missions through the maps they actually take place in would do a lot to help boost the immersion of these missions. Combine that with an additional Incursion-style event that affects the actual open world, similar to the Awakened events, and immediately the story has a lot more weight to it and feels more like, yknow, a season finale and lastly, having entry points in the actual core maps (plus perhaps events) would breathe a lot of life into the old maps, which is always good for new players and gives them incentive to purchase expansions. right now, new players get absolutely nothing from this patch. (yes having the missions be available through the eye, together with strikes and visions, makes 110% sense from a gameplay standpoint, im just talking about an *additional* point of entry)(and an open world event would add a LOT of replayability to the patch besides mediocre DRMs) [link] [comments]

Posted: 09 Dec 2020 05:25 AM PST Gold 3 was fine and platinum was okay.... But fcking once I stepped into gold 2, idk what the hell is up getting games with bots?... YOU CAN'T COMMUNICATE WITH THEM, OFFLINE MODE, THEY HAVE A PATTERN OF GOING POINT TO POINT EVEN IF IT'S OUTNUMBER. Is gw2 population really that low now for pvp that anet is allowing bots to have a fake population for it? And I've seen Mightyteapot play lower ranking games, and it's literally just full of bots... What the fuck is happening to this game? [link] [comments]

Daily Raid Wing & Raid Difficulties Posted: 08 Dec 2020 02:30 PM PST These two features could be extremely good for raids.
Anet showed they cared with the new Weekly Raid CMs feature but I'm afraid that it benefits too few players. A Daily Raid Wing feature should be the same amount of work to implement and could help way more. Clarification: Daily Raid Wing should work like the general Dailies. Each boss is one achievement and doing the entire wing complete the "meta" achievement. [link] [comments]

Posted: 09 Dec 2020 08:05 AM PST I'd like to purchase some of the original Mount Licenses, but they're currently unavailable. Is there a specific rotation for when they're available, or like all Gem Store items and simply appears at random please? [link] [comments]
PSA: Use Ty and Thx to skip LFG suppression Posted: 09 Dec 2020 08:26 AM PST Adding Ty or Thx to the end of your LFG title will remove suppression allowing you to re-list your group, another solution is to re-order terms in your title. W7 Lf Quickness -> Lf Quickness W7 [link] [comments]
Posted: 08 Dec 2020 05:39 PM PST Heyo, so i recently upgraded my setup slighty, going from a 970M+4770K to RTX3080+5800X. So first thing i did was bumping my settings in all of my games. But in GW2 happens to struggle even though my GPU chills at about 40% load with ultra settings. i have frame drops sometimes (especially in lions arch; but thats probably due to the number of character models). Does anybody of you experience the same? Is it a common issue with the game? [link] [comments]
