    Dedupe-o-tron | Find duplicate items in your bank and inventory you can stack

    I have a problem in all games - I'm a hoarder. It gets super bad with MMOs. And now I have a couple of characters I play across (and a couple of bank tabs), I have items that I know I can stack, but they're spread across characters.

    Jumping in and out of characters to check inventories and running to the bank to stack things got annoying, so I went ahead and made a super quick, super simple, tool to help with it that I thought I'd share.

    Introducing Dedupe-o-tron. Give it an API key, and it will show you a list of your bank tabs and character inventories, highlighting with a border all the items that could potentially be stacked. You can click on them to highlight the duplicates in the list, to make it easier to find them. And you can also search at the top too to help hunt things down. It'll save the API key to your browser too, so you don't have to keep entering it each time.

    It doesn't look super trash, looks kind of okay on mobile, and it's in a GitHub repo here incase you find any issues or have any other ideas for it. I'd appreciate any feedback, and I hope it helps some fellow hoarders out there.

    Here's a quick run through of what it looks like to use too.

    There aren't any fur gloves in the game

    I've just been through all the glove skins a couple of times and there don't seem to be any fur gloves (excluding outfits). Not even a fur rim which is common in real world glove designs. It seems like such an obvious skin to make, so unless there are some graphical limitations that make it impossible to display fur in Gw2 I would guess the designers just forgot that fur is a material that gloves can be made of. In case anyone at ArenaNet sees this, I would like to propose this for future glove skins. :D

    Let me know if I'm just stupid or if you feel the same way.

    The Invisible WvW Attackers From Outer Space 9

    So I been wondering about all those threads about that "stealth is out of control in WvW" usually posted by new players, and to find out the truth of what is going on with this.

    Then I discovered...

    Standing out of combat, nothing around me, then suddenly my healthbar started going down really fast. No effect sounds, nothing visible... but something is attacking! I'm tanky, but still had to retreat into a nearby tower. Checked my combat log to see wtf was going on, and it revealed there was a FA Soulbeast in melee range doing Worldy Impacts, Mauls etc, literally alot of damage, while totally invisible & silent the entire time. Pretty sure there was an enemy guardian that also joined in later, also totally invisible. Either really game-breaking gfx culling, cheat hack or a massive exploit of a bug.

    So there you have it.. its not thieves stealth that is broken, in fact its not thieves at all.

    Mesmer - for mesmer i'd love to have mainhand pistol with the new specialisation, being somewhat of a phantasmal gunslinger, where your illusions could use skills simultaneously with you for extra damage, ofcourse stealth would be utilised more as the "confusing" mechanism

    Revenant - Greatsword, he'd be somewhat of a death knight, as the class is lacking a 2H meelee weapon option with big damage, plus it would look really cool.. as for the legend he'd invoke, i have no idea about guild wars lore, maybe Grenth?

    Thief - Thief could be a more focused assassin, wielding an offhand sword and being more disruptive with blinds instead of stealthing and utilising smoke and dark fields in a magical way instead of a gun-oriented way

    Warrior - I think it's time for the warrior to have a staff, and him being a more healing focused class, or even using barriers. My point is, warrior needs a change of pace because his spacialisations so far seem like "warrior with extra steps", and a supportive role could suit him a lot.

    Ranger - Zookeeper, even tho it sounds silly, i think that having 2 pets out could be really cool. As for what weapon he'd have i'd say something like a focus, so he could magically command his pets, for coordinated attack combos that would switch depending on what 2 pets he'd have out

    Elementalist - I have no idea what his concept would be, but i think that a shortbow would be cool on him, so he can be quicker with his attacks and be able to unleash them from a distance

    Engineer - Staff, the previous specialisations were brawler typer, maybe it's time for the engineer to take a more supportive role as a technomancer, with alacrity provision or healing, also instead of toolkit skills he could have charges similar to the mesmer that he can consume for various effects

    I can't think of anything for the rest of the classes, but i can't wait to hear your ideas

    Hello guys,

    We are quite excited to share our latest project with you.

    Even if there there have only been two records on Escort since the launch of Wing 3, we managed to beat the former record by 24 seconds.

    — GENERAL STRATEGY —

    Our main objective was to work on the escort phase because the start until the door opening, the McLeod kill and the Glenna end run are nearly timegated when properly executed. During the McLeod kill, there is still a way to skip a split phase by making 50% damage in one burst phase. Unfortunatly, we did not achieve that, we could have been 9 seconds faster with a better RNG!

    Of course, we decided to clear this escort with blinds and controls to run through the adds and Wargs without attacking them. The Tower and Escort Squad were communicating to minimize tower cap time and Glenna run time as much as possible.

    — OUR COMPOSITION —

    Group 1 Group 2
    Chrono Tower (Titan) Druid (Jacky)
    Alagade Tower (Row) Firebrand Tower (White)
    Holo (Bob) Firebrand (Toto)
    Holo (Kenny) Tempest (Beta)
    Holo (Innac) Berserker (Hidro)

    ESCORT SQUAD —

    On the Escort Squad side, they were running to the next tower while being under fire without waiting for the Tower Squad to cap the next Tower. We used a Stand Your Ground on Firebrand to get stability and prevent the Squad from getting bumped. The Firebrand was also staying close to Glenna in order to give her Aegis when needed. The Holosmiths were in charge of maintaining superspeed on Glenna. We obviously kept an elementalist to get a Fiery Greatsword for the cave but instead of a weaver, we decided to take a tempest because it's an effective mine clearer, he gives some extra superspeed and also has a better burst on McLeod. Druid was indeed the best option for healing and buffs. Besides his different immobilisation skills, he was a good Glenna Caller because of his ability to get ahead with Ancestral Grace from Staff.

    TOWER SQUAD —

    Since the Chrono was running through the cave, he was responsible for the first Tower cap. As opposed to what we usually see, we replaced one Chronomancer by a Firebrand with a Shield to be able to cap the Tower with Shield of Absortion instead of the classic focus pull and Greatsword push from Chronomancers. We used it on the second and fourth Tower. We also used "Fear Me!" on the Berserker on the third to get another Tower capping Skill. Moreover, the Tower Squad tried to start jumping through the Ley-Lines as soon as possible because they are active a bit earlier than they are visible. We used the Dwarf Stance on the Alagade to get some stability before jumping on the next Tower.

    TL;DR : Escort record, no killing during the Glenna death run, lots of laugh

    Fractal Question by Returning Players

    Hello ladies and gentlemen!

    Two friends of mine and I have recently returned to this beautiful game and we would like to do fractals in the future.

    Now we are currently thinking about what to play and having checked the META builds we are currently going for Berserker, Firebrand and Weaver.

    I understand however that while being fairly skilled players with a ton of MMO experience we are lightyears away from executing those classes perfectly so I was wondering :

    What are classes perform well in not - so-fast groups / Pugs?

    Build and equipment template primer

    I'm starting to wonder if more people have the same problem I had with templates, the UI was so confusing when I first saw it that I refused to touch it for a month. After I figured out how it works I don't find it so bad. I'm gonna give a quick overview maybe it helps others.

    There's 3 things involved with templates:

    • Build storage slots. They are shown as a vertical list on the left in the build panel of the hero window. Right-click on a slot to get options. Think of these build slots as a bank for builds. They're account-wide. They let you share builds across characters and they're not lost if you delete a character.
    • Build tabs. These are shown as tabs at the top of the build panel of the hero window. You can also right-click these tabs to get options. These builds are character-specific, one of them is currently active on each character, and you can swap them on the fly (out of combat) with keybinds.
    • Equipment tabs. Shown as tabs at the top of the equipment panel. Again you can right-click for options. These are also character-specific, one of them currently active, and you can swap them out of combat with keybinds. You can use a piece of equipment in more than one template at the same time, and if you do they'll get a little "link" sign in the corner. If you use an item in a template it stops taking up space in your inventory, so if you put your secondary armor/trinket set in the 2nd template it will free up your bags. Equipment templates do NOT remember helm/shoulder/glove/back visibility unfortunately, that remains character-wide.

    Having different templates for build vs equipment allows you to mix and match and get more combinations with less work. You can have 2 x 3 = 6 combinations out of the box, and if you modify one of the templates the change will be instantly used in all the combinations with that template.

    If the build and equipment templates were merged (pick one template to change both) you would've had to create 6 different templates, and if you wanted to change something you would've had to modify several templates instead of just one.

    Revenant leveling tips

    sPvp help

    I've been struggling to do well in pvp. The only class I play pretty much right now is warrior, and I struggle to have any success on core or spell breaker, I can only do half decent with berserker. Everywhere I look I've been told berserker is a joke, so I feel like I should try something else.

    Should I give other classes a shot? Keep trying on the other warrior specs? Just keep doing what I'm doing?

    QoL: in-game notepad

    I was wondering if people would oppose the idea of an in-game notepad to make notes in? It could be a sub-menu in the Hero tab or something, and you could make personal notes in it. Things like, for example:

    • Get 100 vials of powerful blood
    • Get the legendary fractal backpack
    • Get 20 PvP wins

    I'd love to get this feature because I often times make notes in front of my desk, but then I lose the notes after not playing for multiple weeks (busy job) and then I often don't know what I was really trying to do in-game. I have a lot of fun in this game, but when I log in, and don't know what to precisely aim for, I kind of feel lost. Then I have to repeat the whole process of looking for stuff I want to achieve in-game before I can finally get that feeling of progression again.

    It could be a very handy feature, and I don't think it would be a lot of work to implement. Would be even more amazing if we could "pin" certain notes on the top of our screen when playing. :)
