Thunderhead peaks is still unplayable because of massive PAUSEs.

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 06:13 AM PDT

This wouldnt be this much of a problem if an enitre stat set wasnt time gated behind a single map, or you know, months of spvp.

If they arent planning to fix it anytime soon, they should make the map currency and account bound jewels available somewhere else.

The real problem with Drizzlewood Coast is not how long it is, Dragon's Stand type maps should never be released in 2 parts, and here is why.

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 04:14 AM PDT

Imagine Dragon's Stand living world release. First part up to towers, and second part 2 months later towers+world boss. Imagine you want to do your new achievements on second half but you need to do all the events, all the push from the start of the map. You were doing these events for last 2 months when you were doing achievements of the first half. So you are already tired of them, of the first half. This is what we have now with Drizzlewood Coast. Its not that it is too long, its that we want to be on second half, and we just done huge grind of first half.

So you want to work on new achievements , you teleport on Drizzlewood Coast, and what you see? Map is all red right? You think : oh no I need to do the first half again.. You cant play on new area, on second half that update just introduced, this part is dead, all red, taken by enemy. You need to do push from the start...

Second half of the "new" map is DEAD when you teleport to it.

New - just added playable area is DEAD.

    So the update feel DEAD.

We like Dragon's Stand right? We like Dragonfall... These maps have place in game, yes they take a little longer to finish, but thats not a big problem... Just dont release them in 2 parts...

    OR

If you want to expand the meta, make sure old part is optional. Here is how it would look:

At fixed timer, chempion enemy NPC go from north of the Wolf's Crossing Bridge to the south. If he cross the bridge north meta wont happen and map resets. If he is killed north meta starts normaly.
The timer is big enough so south meta can be done normaly. So people who will farm the map can do south , then north, then reset. And people who just want to play new content and do the achievements can only come on time for second - north meta.

LWS4 maps are BY FAR the worst experience on Guild Wars 2

    Posted: 03 Aug 2020 04:56 PM PDT

I started to play PoF+LWS4 like one month ago and I still having the same problem: absurd lag spikes every few seconds. I always ask on map and chat always answers 'me too' 'it's been like this for weeks'.

Seriously, what's going on those maps? Are we going to ever see a fix for this? Is Anet saying something about the lag issues?

Cairn the Indomitable Solo (21:09) | Condition Renegade

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 07:27 AM PDT

    Video

    https://youtu.be/T39L0nbQHjs

    Short description

This is a solo kill not only focused on killing a raid boss alone, but also doing it as quickly as possible, which significantly adds to the challenge. This was by far the hardest thing I have done in the game so far. The strategy changes when enrage is hit 8 minutes into the fight, as I can no longer remove the stacking debuff that reduces my movement speed, and I end up having a permanent 99% movement speed reduction about a minute later, so I have to use dodges and the special action to evade instead of sidestepping Cairn's very hard-hitting melee attacks.

To compare it with fastest kills I could find:

    Build Author Time Video
Condi Renegade (melee) me 21m09s https://youtu.be/T39L0nbQHjs
Condi Renegade (ranged) me 26m17s https://youtu.be/cLU57CmvvYI
Rifle Deadeye (ranged) QuitarHero 28m34s https://youtu.be/tBOdL2BwxQ0
Condi Weaver (melee) Roul 32m31s https://youtu.be/GjQkOtoLw08
Condi Daredevil (melee) QuitarHero 35m49s https://youtu.be/cNtigprfCvY

Some kills may be missing, also check out youtube for other interesting slower kills!

Feel free to ask about anything that might be unclear.

    Longer description

Cairn the Indomitable is a Guild Wars 2 raid boss, intended for groups of 10 players. This is a video of me killing the boss alone. Cairn has been done solo many times before, but only a few of those kills were optimized for damage. This is the first melee condition renegade kill that I know of, and beats my previous (ranged) record by 5 minutes and 8 seconds.

With the melee approach, serious care has to be taken because the two first hits in Cairn's attack chain hit for up to 4800 damage without any damage reduction (I had none) each. The aura damage averages 1350 each 3 seconds, and the agony damage is always 1592, which is 10% of my maximum health, also happening each 3 seconds.

Early in the fight, the melee hits can be sidestepped, but the mace 3 skill locks me in place and I opt to get hit at some points to greed for more damage. After enrage is entered (8 minutes into the fight), I end up getting a 99% movement speed reduction with no way to get extra movement speed with my build, so I have to rely on dodges and the special action to evade his melee hits.

Red circles spawning in groups of three on the ground at the boss teleport you randomly if you stand in them as they disappear. Potentially very dangerous and certainly a dps loss to get teleported. I made sure not to dodge into them in later phases and in early phases they require rapid small movement adaptation. Their hitboxes are thankfully pretty fair.

Another important mechanic is the various type of green circles you need to stand in to avoid getting very significant damage and to maintain your movement speed before enrage. Green circles that have orbs floating above them have a minimum player amount requirement, which limited me to only smallest two of the greens. The boss has 4 phases (100-75% health, 74-50%, 49-25%, 24%-0%) and the locations of green circles change depending on the current phase. Cairn also gains an extra circular attack in the last phase. The enrage (entered when enrage timer runs out) is very mild on Cairn, the only result is a permanent 99% movement speed reduction.

As for the build, the Devastation traitline is pretty much required for Battle Scars, the main method of healing utilized. Surviving enrage without it would not leave room for a single mistake (but seems theoretically doable for someone insane enough). Vindication is taken for might generation and a bit extra damage (and hits) from F3. Other than that, this is your standard condition renegade build. Vigor kicking in when the boss is below 50% was pretty much perfectly timed, with less damage, this would be even harder to do as I would have fewer dodges available.

I also intended to swap from lifesteal food (~150 dps) to damage reduction food (-10% incoming damage) for the enrage phase, but failed to eat the food as I pressed the F into the inventory search window instead of eating it. Didn't notice until reviewing the video later. But hey, that's a dps gain, I guess?

What's up with the vistas in the northern part of Drizzlewood Coast?

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 08:06 AM PDT

I know that this is a really mundane thing to nitpick but what's up with the vistas in the new map? Each one made me feel like "The camera will soon show something spectacular ... oh that was it?"

So far I cannot remember that the devs ever dropped the ball with the vistas, they're always this cool little tour of the area that highlights some sweet angles at the end. Not where the Frost Legion lives apparently.

Compare that to a random Orr vista I just took.

Is Drizzlewood just lame with no interesting thing to look at? Or could the vistas have been better?

Saw this game om summits stream yesterday, got interested, but whats the catch?

It looked really fun as well as graphically good looking. But why isn't it more popular? Surely there must be something wrong if it's not massively popular

Has anyone tried to see if this staff is obtainable?

    Posted: 03 Aug 2020 11:22 PM PDT

With the trailer for this episode, I noticed a shot of The Forest King staff seen here that was data-mined from /u/that_shaman back in May of last year. Has anyone tried making this in the Mystic Forge yet? I tried an exotic staff, Anthology of Heroes, and an ectoplasmic stone - not sure if I am doing it correctly but can't figure out the fourth component. It's not 250 elder wood planks or an Elonian bottle of wine. Maybe, I am wasting time and it isn't in the game yet?

Future of the Legions (Spoiler / Prediction?)

    Posted: 03 Aug 2020 06:48 PM PDT

The Imperators of the legions, are supposedly always 'Descendants of the Khan-ur'. Of the 4 original Imperators that GW2 started with, which we can assume are directly blood related to the last khan-ur.

Blood - Bangar Ruinbringer (Corrupted & caged)
Iron - Smodur the Unflinching (Assassinated)
Flame - Gaheron Baelfire (Killed & Resurrection failed)
    Ash - Malice Swordshadow

Malice is the only original Imperator left, and most likely on track to be Khan-ur. The only other 'obstacle' is if there are other Imperator candidates that are descendants of the khan-ur still around, such as not knowing if Efram Greetsglory is one, though unlikely.

Will be interesting to see the legions united under a Khan-ur, now that most of the competitors are gone.

Fresh demigod of pvp rank2 eu player exposed as a wintrader.

    Posted: 03 Aug 2020 04:30 PM PDT

i've logged in today to see the season ending and realised that player that just took the rank2 title has wintraded in my game yesterday. The player in question is "Jesusonduty" who has been hiden from the leaderboard until the season end. Here is the snapshot of the ladder: https://i.imgur.com/bH1jr3n.jpg So yesterday I've logged in first time after a week to do a few games with a friend and I've encountered a wintrade DC on enemy team to prevent the enemies from losing their points and decided to screenshot it. Today it turned out the wintrader has just claimed a rank 2 title, this is on European servers. The player has played at 2:53 am Tuesday 4 August with a random name ( to avoid attention) Princess Hanky here's the picture: https://i.imgur.com/b8hzjGN.jpg The player he has duoq'd with was named Drajsriosngs (Coreant.2470). https://i.imgur.com/j2GLSIN.jpg The player that they trio q sniped with was named Warlock Guard (Warlock.5790) He can be seen DCing for Jesus to not lose rating on this snap: https://i.imgur.com/NVEfUnG.jpg And here's the final result, the game was an absolute blowout in my team's favor, yet Jesus who had a triple person qing with him has not lost points and illegitimately claimed his rank2 title today. https://i.imgur.com/9Gtk5at.jpg Hopefully we can bring this to Anet's attention so that this person can be taken off from the leaderboard and their rewards removed. Thank you for your attention Reddit. I've hidden my name from the snaps for privacy reasons.

PSA: Convert your Gold to gems now for the upcoming sale.

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 05:20 AM PDT

Guild Wars 2 has two big periods where multiple weeks are featuring items for sale. In the month of March and in August.

This post is informing players who convert gems to gold and want new skins/items with the reduced prices. The gemcost is rising over the sale period and items with low discounts between 15%-30% are not cheaper if you are buying too late.

Convert your gems now, and watch out for low prices over the day. You can use websites like gw2efficiency to see the perfect time to buy your gems.

What imo GW2 needs to be one of the most successful games on the market.

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 04:48 AM PDT

    • A Rebecca Ford-like attitude as deus ex machina of communication.

I play a lot of Warframe too, and she is, without any doubt, one of the reason of Warframe success. She listens every feedback from every source. Twitch drops, dev streams, Tennocons, posts on forums and on reddit, she speaks directly to creators, she memes with them; she's behind every corner of the communication. She single handed every crisis giving space to Digital Extreme developers to be free from the stress of the community.

    • Resuming e-sports for PvP.

Yeah, I know the meme and how a part of the community ridiculise the "e-sports" of this game. The point was not the success or the views imo. The point was that the presence of a potential income (thanks Teapot and Roy btw for trying) for professional gamers gave space to 10/15 players to collaterally create content on twitch and youtube. The absence of that tournament, even with all its flaws, had pushed away all the competitive streamers and creators from the game. Not to mention how the theorycrafting of specs and composition was in constant growth.

    • Adding a simple GvG to WvW

Another meme I know. I have an idea on this. When they gave us automated tournaments for pvp they said that the system was in place and ready to be extended (cannot find the post).
A simple idea: every Friday in an instance of Eotm, Obsidian Sanctum or whatever, maybe a new map; have an AT with 15vs15 (or 20) from the the 3 servers in the matchup.

Give them rewards and award the winners a substantial number of points to be added to the final score of the matchup. In this way a server with a nice GvG team can have the feeling to be relevant for the weekly win. This will give purpose and attention to the game mode on Friday, before the reset, which is always a dead part of the day for wvw.

My final two cents for this will be: force the presence in the team of one of each 9 classes in the game, to kickstart nice theorycraft and to be the single game mode with all the professions in the meta.

Imo this moves could really help the game. Of course a contribution as the one Rebecca gives is hard to find. My advice is copying everything she does, even ask her for leads (as she gave to Path of exile when they asked her).

Sorry for the wall of text.

Cy in the next 2 or 3 years. (that's the time in between my posts...)

    X.

    Feeling Overwhelmed

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 08:22 AM PDT

Hey I recently just got back into the game, I haven't played since release but there is so much more to it than before. I wanted to jump into pvp but with all the skills and masteries it was really overwhelming. I have a level 80 boost, but I want to save it because I don't want to be in the same situation permanently with a character. Is there a straightforward class to learn the game? Should I just play through the leveling zones to get a handle on everything? Tips would be appreciated

So what happened to the (probably) weekly achievement "Confer with ..."? 1 week after the release and no one's really talking about the latest episode anymore?

    Cosmetic Farming while leveling?

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 08:14 AM PDT

I'm going to be trying to get into GW2. My last attempt was just to level as fast as possible and it was boring. This time I was thinking of instead of caring about the levels. Focus on a side goal. Maybe I'm being stupid or don't know the term to google. But I can't find any info about potential early game cosmetic drops.
Is it possible to farm cosmetics while before max level?
