Boss Rush Workout - Day 2 - Swiftness

    Posted: 20 Aug 2020 07:29 AM PDT

Professor Courage Minimoose here to issue your daily Boss Rush workout routine. It was awesome to see all the Pink Commanders showing support yesterday and I look forward to seeing them out in the world today encouraging everyone to move their bodies!

Yesterday's workout theme was "Might" (pushups, squats, crunches) so today the theme is "Swiftness". Swiftness exercises will focus on mobility, coordination, and a touch of cardio. Please scale these numbers to your fitness level, stay hydrated, and even if you don't do the workout make sure to get up and move around every hour.

    1. Dragons - 10-20 Standing Elbows to Knees (obliques, hip flexors, and abdominal)
      1. Easy - Leg Lift Elbow Tuck (slow and controlled)
      2. Intermediate - Elbow to Knee (fast and intense)
      3. Hard - Hand to Toe (explosive)
    2. Elementals - 10-20 Windmills (lower back, glutes, hamstrings)
      1. Easy - Halfmill
      2. Intermediate - Windmill
      3. Hard - Weighted Windmill
    3. Other - 20-60 Jumping Jacks (calves, shoulders, hips)
      1. Easy - Step Jacks (slower and low impact)
      2. Intermediate - Jumping Jacks (faster)
      3. Hard - Fancy Jacks (faster with more complex foot work)
      4. Ridiculous - Criss Cross (extreme speed and coordination)
    4. If multiple boss encounters without a break stack 6 of each and 6 for current. (e.g. Admiral+Karka and waiting in Maelstrom do 18 Windmills, 12 Standing Elbows to Knees, 12 Jumping Jacks)
    5. Bonus Cat Tricep Extension

Your body is the hardest fractal and you'll need to endure a little agony to reap the rewards. . . and rewards are insane!

    Statistically yours,

    Professor Minimoose

    College of Statics

TIL: you can right click reward chests (above your minimap)

    Posted: 19 Aug 2020 09:52 PM PDT

...right clicking them gives you the loot without opening the extra confirmation/preview popup. Saves you having to click confirm/accept on that popup when can get annoying after a while or en mass. I've played this damn game for almost 8 years now and only learned that today when someone mentioned it after a world boss!

Warning for dungeons and world bosses: Some traits are bugged and getting downscaled twice

    Posted: 19 Aug 2020 06:33 PM PDT

There's an issue with some traits and effects in the game that apply attribute bonuses.

This is a bit weird to explain, but some traits will apply attribute bonuses that scale with effective level. For instance, Thermal Vision grants bonus expertise when slotted.

The amount of expertise provided is based on your effective level, up to 150 at effective level 80.

However, this stat bonus is applied before your character is downscaled, which means that it becomes substantially less effective if you're using it in any zone below your character's real level.

For instance, if you were to take that same trait into Ascalonian Catacombs, you would get a level 35 version of it which grants 66 expertise. Seems fine, but then this already-reduced amount gets further downscaled and the actual bonus ends up being only 11 (or 2.56% condition duration...)

Some traits get applied properly after downscaling instead. It seems like traits that appear as a buff on your bar get applied properly, and ones that don't end up scaling twice.

The weird thing is, the ones that scale twice can also be somewhat abused in WvW if you're upscaled to level 80.

Tour of HoT all day map run; NA

    Posted: 19 Aug 2020 02:18 PM PDT

Saterday August 22nd at 5pm Server Time on NA Mega Server at Shipwreck Peak WP in Verdant Brink.

This Run will cover and open all of Verdant Brink, Auric Basin, Tangled Depths and the non-Meta portion of Dragon Stand. This is moderately paced, helpful and I try very hard not to leave anyone behind. You'll get all of VB, AB and TD opened and a Month's worth of solo struggle in a fun relaxed day!

What you need: Basic Glide - that is it! No Waypoints need - won't call any we've not crossed already, Mounts are not required. This is a very new(er) and disabled player friendly run.

    What you'll get:

    All Waypoints opened

360 Hero Points (Basic Glide gets you 350)

50+ MPs - Communes, Strongboxes and Achievements (Basic Glide gets you 45'ish)

Some achievements like Golden Chicken and Disco Cave Dancer

Quite a few hard to find or reach Vistas and PoI - not full map completion but we get most of them including the ones requiring Masteries to access.

Some events we cross, which ones depend on timing and what the group's up for.

Pretty good XP and Loot zerg along the way!

It is a full but fun day if you stay for the whole main run, about 7-8 hours including scheduled breaks but you're free to stay for what you can. This is a no peep left behind run so the tail has a lot to say about the pace.

*If there's interest and we didn't get them spawned on the main run we'll circle back for Overseer PoI, Eastwatch Chain, Vinetooth Prime, Friend of Frogs, Potoni Masher and Great Skelk Regurgicidal. This is 1.5-2 hours but 5 additional MP.

Starts PROMPTLY at 5 pm Server Time but will be posted on LFG/Heart of Thorns/Verdant Brink between 4:30 and 4:45 Server Time. If there's room I'll post in AB and TD when we reach them. I'll try and have the squad up at or around 4:15 Server Time and you can whisper me for an invite. You can contact me at Trixi Morrigna or Morrigna.1704.

I'm not planning on doing an overflow squad and these tend to fill up quickly so get there early to assure a spot.

    Hope to see you there!

[FLUFF] So I got my RS3 friend to pay for a GW2 expac

    Posted: 19 Aug 2020 03:20 PM PDT

My friend has 120 agility in RS3.

I told her in GW2 we have our own version of agility they're called jumping puzzles.

    Sold.

She also liked seeing the sights and wanted the expacs so she would have more maps to explore later on.

Anyway she's been running around doing as many jump puzzles as possible. She tries over and over again until she's finished.

I have the feeling by the time she gets to the rage inducing JPs all of the confidence she has gained will give her more resilience in the face of set back.

How do you feel about 3 activities being held at once?

    Posted: 19 Aug 2020 11:42 AM PDT

I like all 3 of the events that are being held right now, the content of them is not what rubs me the wrong way.

I'm having a hard time understanding why, pretty much after the release of a new episode, 3 quite busy events are being held at the same time, four winds is, compared to other events, 2 areas, so in reality it's almost 4 events.

Meanwhile we regularly have weeks of not having a new episode and no event going on. In my humble opinion, these 3 events should at the very least be held one after another, and not all at once. But perhaps they need that extra server strain to locate and fix the latency issues that have been plaguing us for some time now.
