    Raiding for beginners

    This post is meant to collect some resources targeted specifically at new and casual raiders. The goal is to collect the easiest viable builds and get their rotation in as few sentances as possible (see below for my tries) as well as collecting boss guides and training opportunities. If you have easy builds for other classes, please post them in a comment with a short description of their rotation so I can edit them in (with sources, of course).

    This post is far from complete or optimal!

    Beginner-friendly dps builds

    All these builds can be optimized in their rotations, e.g. according to the snowcrows guides. I added these mini guides specifically for people that are currently struggling with those in order to get them started. I do of course recommend to learn how to use the full build for each of them later down the line.

    Single Shortbow Soulbeast:

    • Stay behind/at the side of the target whenever possible

    • Press 2, 4, 7, 8, 9, 0 and F2 on cooldown

    • Slightly increased difficulty: Leave some time between pressing 5 and F3 (Both trigger the Twice as vicious buff which lasts 10s), so pressing them within 10s of each other wastes a part of this buff)

    Power DPS Warrior:

    • In short: Hit F1 as often as possible

    • Weapon skills to get into berserk mode, after that heal and utilities on cooldown to stay in berserk mode.

    • Rotation in berserk mode: 2-3 weapon skills, F1, repeat.

    • Slightly increased difficulty: Stun yourself with your elite (skill 0), break the stun with the Outrage utility

    • Second weaponset: Mace/Mace, swap to this if the boss has a blue CC bar and press 5 and f1 if available. Swap back to axe/axe for dps.

    Power DPS Daredevil:

    • Take Staff Master instead of Havoc Specialist

    • Press 7 and 8 on cooldown

    • Dodge when you have full endurance (or a mechanic requires you to, of course)

    • Autoattack (Yes, the simple version is THAT simple - 20k dps without using initiative on a thief)

    • Slightly increased difficulty: Press 2 when you have enough initiative, Use 7 and 8 directly after a dodge

    Useful offensive buffs

    • Might - Increases damage, Usually provided by druids

    • Alacrity - Shortens cooldowns, usually provided by support chronomancers (for 5 people each) or alacrity renegades (5-10 people)

    • Quickness - Increases attack speed, usually provided by support chronomancers (5-10 people) or firebrands (5 people)

    • Fury - Increases critical hit chance, usually provided by druids (5 people) or firebrands (5 people)

    • Spotter - Increases critical hit chance, provided by druids (5 people) or power soulbeasts (5 people)

    • Banner of discipline - Increases critical hit chance, usually provided by warriors (called banner slaves or BS)

    • Banner of Strength - Increases damage, usually provided by warriors

    • Assassin's Presence - Increases power damage, can be provided by Revenants.

    Useful defensive buffs

    Raid group compositions

    Goal: Quickness, Alacrity, 25 Stacks of Might, banners and Fury for everyone. Enough healing and defensive buffs to survive. Enough damage to beat the enrage timer.

    • 1 chronomancer per subgroup, druid, second healer, banner warrior, 5 dps

    • Firebrigade: 1 quickness firebrand per subgroup (condition damage or healer builds available), 1 10 man alcrity renegade, druid for additional might and spirits, banner warrior, fill up with dps

    • Hybrid: Firebrigade, but replace a quickbrand with a chronomancer. Trainings:

    For a game with so many easy, casual but still fun activities, the PvE community in GW2 is one of the most snobishly elitist ones I've ever been a part of. The strike community alone is somehow more hostile than the savage raiding community in FF14.

    In the past two days I've been kicked for using a top tier healingbrand build from metabuild for a lfg that was looking for a healing brand because the squad leader said I wasnt a true HB. Another time, in tier 1 low level fractal where pretty much every build is viable even if it isnt optimal, rather than help and teach them, someone bullied what was clearly a newer player out of the party for using a sub optimal build.

    I'm sorry for venting. Its just frustrating to hop into what should be a chill, laid back game only to have the fun completely ruined by a largely toxic community. This is likely why theres not a large enough player base raiding for anet to justify continuing making them.

    I'm probably going to get downvoted to hell for this post. If you're the kind of player who's going to reply defending this kind of attitude within the community, I got news for you; gw2 isnt that hard a game. You reallllly dont need the perfect build to clear content and if you think it's ok to bully new players for not knowing any better rather than helping them then that's just a shitty thing to do.

    questions before buying this game

    on the website i can buy the standard edition, deluxe and ultimate.

    if i buy the standard will i get all the content?

    regardless of pve pvp mechanics, hows the storyline? does it make the quests more fun? interesting? is it a big part of the world?

    hows the community? (what a controversial subject jeez)are there any communications between players? or everyone just wants to progress alone and there are 0 communities?

    To anyone experiencing low fps 5700 xt AMD

    I was experiencing low fps with my build, rx 5700 xt i7-7700k and 32gb ram. I turned off radeon chill and freesync while in guildwars 2.. My fps went from 40-50 to 120-170 I'm not sure why but I just hope it works for others.. I know the low fps can be really annoying, game runs like butter now!

    GW2 on ultrabook/2in1 like Teclast F5

    I am thinking to buy a cheap chinese ultrabook (Teclast F5 or similar) for (future) travelling.
    I was wondering if I'll be able to log in GW2 with such device.

    Main specs are:

    CPU: Intel Gemini Lake N4100
    CPU Brand: Intel
    Graphics Chipset: Intel UHD Graphics 600
    OS: Windows 10

    What do you think? I mean, I am not expecting to raid with it, but maybe doing dailies or such.
