Drizzlewood Coast - Special Missions Guide

    Posted: 03 Jun 2020 02:03 AM PDT

Below is a detailed description for each of the 40 special missions unlocked via Special Mission documents earned by playing on the new map. Feel free to use this as a guide and not an absolute since these are the things I found to be the "easiest" to do. If you have any questions, feel free to mail or whisper me in game (Lama.2735). Good luck hunting folks.

If you are interested to learn more about the Drizzlewood Coast map and gain some general information/tips, I highlight recommend checking out this other post!

    Special Missions

    • Special Mission: Clear the ___________________
      • Kill 100 Dominion Charr in each of the six bases. This is a pretty easy mission to complete and I would let this mission be done naturally on its own.
    • Special Mission: Pillage the ___________________
      • Destroy 10 structures in each of the six bases. This is a very easy mission to complete if you use your Electromagical Pulse (EMP) in any structures including gates, barricades, walls, tents, and artillery. You should always be using EMP to destroy buildings to speed up the meta considerably.
    • Special Mission: Bolster the ___________________
      • Spend 600 War Supplies in each of the six bases. Use any War Supplies earned via events, chests, charr salvages, etc to upgrade or repair any structures. Easy mission to complete once you have lots of War Supplies to go around.
    • Special Mission: Cull the Herd
      • Kill 100 animals. Play the map and earn this naturally over time. I would not waste time going around finding animals on purpose. But if you want to be a rebel, killing fishes in the water to the east near Port or Minotaurs around the center of the map is a good bet.
    • Special Mission: Cache Collector
      • Open 100 Cache chests. Completed easily by doing the Dominion Keeper "champ" train after the "Battle Cry" meta is completed. Each train consists of 40 chests but must be open with Cache Keys. Cache Keys can be purchased from the Quaestor NPC in any blue camps or earned every 10 minutes from base containers.

    Ash Legion Special Missions

    • Ash Special Mission: Lies and Statistics
      • Destroy 50 propaganda balloons. This will probably be one of the last missions you will complete due to the fact how fast the event is completed. My recommendation is to camp out and find a good spot to perch and aim for balloons coming directly toward you instead of an angle. The best I've ever gotten in one event is 10 but that was pretty lucky.
    • Ash Special Mission: Do Your Part
      • Donate materials to the Quaestor for each of the 4 Charr Legions. You can only donate to two legions per day but just check your achievement to see which ones you need to complete it. The NPC asks for T5/6 ore, leather, cloth and wood in exchange for 125 or 250 commendations.
    • Ash Special Mission: This Forest Needs More Bugs
      • Repair 15 listening devices. Easy mission to complete. They are littered all over the map so just click them as you see them.
    • Ash Special Mission: Communication Breakdown
      • Destroy 5 Dominion communication towers. Locate the towers ahead of the time so you know where they go once they are up. These towers die extremely fast and spawn right after the pre-event with collecting "Encrypting Messages" is done. It is worth noting that the comm tower event spawns as the first event in the Vloxen Mines right after it is captured for the very first time on a fresh map.
    • Ash Special Mission: Enjoy the Silence
      • Destroy 20 propaganda speakers. Easy mission to complete. Go for the ones on the ground or on a cliff so you can click them easily. The hard to reach ones require the "Remote Charge" special action from the United Legions Waystation which costs 10 War supplies which I don't recommend. Save your War Supplies for Cahce Keys or using the EMP skill.

    Blood Legion Special Missions

    • Blood Special Mission: Disrupt Supply Lines
      • Loot 5 enemy supply caravans. To "loot the caravan", you have to simply click on the "Reclaimed Supply Pile" found when Dominion enemies are killed near a supply caravan. These special mobs are indicated by a NPC "Pack Marmox" walking alongside Dominion troops. Good area to find one of these is located at the very northwest corner of the current Drizzlewood Coast map along the frozen border so you can see what it looks like. These special mobs can be found anywhere on the map and the dropped item is usually missed by players.
    • Blood Special Mission: Rearguard
      • Escort 3 supply convoys to friendly bases. Easiest mission to complete. Supply bull from Umbral Grotto to the Vloxen Mines or Petraj Overlook will easily net you completion.
    • Blood Special Mission: Take the Keeps
      • Defeat the Keep Lords at each of the six bases. Keep Lords spawn as soon as the pre-event "Enemy Influence" bar goes to zero. This happens as the assault to new bases are underway.
    • Blood Special Mission: Feed the Troops
      • Bring food to 6 exhausted sentries. Use the map in this post to help you locate the sentries. There are 3 in each base and are random in terms of what they require (hunger, thirst, or wounded). Items to feed (Cook), quench (Water Supply), or mend (Medic) are all found within each base as well.
    • Blood Special Mission: Thirsty Work
      • Bring water to 6 exhausted sentries. Use the map in this post to help you locate the sentries. There are 3 in each base and are random in terms of what they require (hunger, thirst, or wounded). Items to feed (Cook), quench (Water Supply), or mend (Medic) are all found within each base as well.

    Flame Legion Special Missions

    • Flame Special Mission: Fired Up
      • Assist with activating flame shields. Destroy Dominion troops outside of the bases before the flame shield goes down. There are a total of 5 clusters of mobs per event to destroy before the event is completed.
    • Flame Special Mission: False Effigies
      • Disrupt 3 Dominion flame effigy rituals. Easy mission to complete due to how frequent the event spawns and how easy it is to complete. One of the flame effigy rituals is very close to one of the Dominion Keeper, Elexus Shreadskin, spawns on the west side of the map. If you do the champ train at the end of the meta, tag the event for an easy completion.
    • Flame Special Mission: Swatting Mosquitoes
      • Destroy 30 Dominion choppers. Use the "Charrzookas" found at the event in one of the 4 bases and shoot down Dominion choppers. It is much easier to score hits on choppers coming directly or away from you instead of an angle. Find a good spot to perch and shoot away!
    • Flame Special Mission: Feel the Pulse
      • Strike 5 or more targets with a single Electromagical Pulse (EMP). Get the EMP skill from a United Legions Waystation and use it during an enemy advance event. You should be using your EMP often enough that this mission is completed fairly quickly.
    • Flame Special Mission: Apothecary
      • Bring medicine to 6 exhausted sentries. Use the map in this post to help you locate the sentries. There are 3 in each base and are random in terms of what they require (hunger, thirst, or wounded). Items to feed (Cook), quench (Water Supply), or mend (Medic) are all found within each base as well.

    Iron Legion Special Missions

    • Iron Special Mission: Iron Scavenger
      • Collect 300 War supplies from charr salvage. Super easy mission to complete as there are many salvage piles to loot as you take enemy bases. They look like whale fin icons on the mini-map.
    • Iron Special Mission: Percussive Maintenance
      • Destroy 25 turrets. Event will pop up randomly in one of the four random bases. Check the map in this post so you can locate them beforehand if they are killed too quickly.
    • Iron Special Mission: Recovery Operations
      • Reveal 5 charr supply caches. Use the item "Charr Field Homing Beacons" to discover "Lost Charr Supply Drop" scattered across the map. The location is indicated by a red line pointing to a direction if there is a lost supply chest nearby. Once you are close enough, the location is on a white circle with a blue beam that is easily seen. All players can loot this chest.
    • Iron Special Mission: Minesweeper
      • Defuse 3 mines. Equip the item "Minesweeping Kit" to sweep for mines. Skill 1 detects the mines. Walk up to the mines and press F to trigger a mini game. Press skill 3, 4, or 5 in the correct order shown by the color, symbol, or sound to successfully disarm the mines.
    • Iron Special Mission: Iron Rain
      • Protect Iron Legion builders as they construct mortars. Standard escort and protect event that pops up at the Fort and Port locations. Use the map to locate them beforehand if both cannons are built too quickly and you can't make it to the event in time.

    Where are the Norn?

    Posted: 02 Jun 2020 04:35 PM PDT

I'm a long time Norn player and I was very excited to finally be getting some Norn content this season. Aside from the stuff in Season 1 and Season 3 we've largely been ignored.

But...we're still getting ignored. I know the Charr are finally getting attention and that's great but Jormag is OUR DRAGON. The entire backstory to the Norn at the start of the game hinges entirely on Jormag driving us south! I thought we'd finally get some great character analysis and looks at Norn culture, maybe visit other settlements. Maybe the Norn would form an alliance with the Charr and both could benefit from the other (Norn would learn to unify and fight as a cohesive army, Charr would learn how they could make independent decisions and lessen the dependence on the Legions for everything)

It's getting almost comical how the maps are RIGHT over Norn territory but yet we are nowhere to be seen and the Charr stuff takes priority. I don't want them to get excluded either but I really hope Anet doesn't make the entire Jormag story about the Charr, it'd be like having the Asura deal with the 6 Human Gods themselves. Please, I just want more Norn content. Eye of the North was my favorite expansion and I love the Alpine/Nordic aesthetic. There's so much to do with the Norn and it really does feel like we're going to be forgotten in what, if I can be honest, is OUR fight.

    UPDATE on Anxiety Raids

    Posted: 03 Jun 2020 01:33 AM PDT

A little over a week ago, I posted about doing raids with like-minded people, who are anxious and don't like voice chat, or unable to use voice chat in the first place. Since then I have started in an effort to put together a group for this. We have 7/10 people so far, although filling some roles has proven difficult! I just wanted to thank anyone who reached out, we got some great members here from reddit. Hopefully we will be starting soon!

    Pride March 2020!

    Posted: 03 Jun 2020 04:55 AM PDT

    Pride March 2020!

Gamers Giving Back is gearing up, along with our friends at OpenCommunity, to bring you Pride 2020!

2020 has thrown a few curve balls at us so far, but we wanted to have Pride be as epic as ever! Join us on June 27th and 28th at 4 PM CDT as we march across Tyria spreading love and joy and support of our LGBTQ+ friends and fam. (While maintaining proper social distancing, of course!)

EU will begin earlier in the day, at 16:00 CEST. There will be radio, camaraderie, and voice chat for those interested in joining! While we typically support a cause, with Covid-19 and the state of the world currently, we don't want to pressure anyone to donate. However, if you want to donate, we recommend Rainbow Road! They're a great organization that we worked with previously and they have an amazing cause.

Interested in more information? You can reach out to Angel if you're on NA (AngelWriter.3652) or Lelling if you're on EU (Lelling.6795). Hope to see you there!

Does anyone experience hiccups or mini screen freezes on GW2 only?

    Posted: 03 Jun 2020 07:02 AM PDT

I recently got a new gaming PC and I seem to be experiencing these small hiccups/mini screen freezes in GW2 only. It's not an FPS drop since in certain areas I can run close to 100 FPS on max settings (minus Character Limit/Quality on Lowest), and the FPS counter doesn't register any major drop.

It's a hiccup or mini stutter for a split second. It doesn't make the game unplayable, just very very annoying where I'm enjoying the gameplay and these sudden hiccups happen. The hiccups are significant enough to make it tricky to micro manage small actions like jumps for jumping puzzles.

I've tried re-installing the entire game, removing all addons (I use dx12 mod and Radial), even running on Best Performance that nets me 100+ FPS easily yet it still happens.

    PC specs:

ASUS TUF Gaming X570 Plus Motherboard Gigabyte Aorus 3600Mhz 16GB RAM Gigabyte Aorus RX 5700 XT 8GB GPU AMD Ryzen 7 3700X CPU Samsung 970 EVO 1TB M.2 SSD

I've run a 3DMark Test + Stress Test and results were good.

I play Warframe on the side too and this doesn't happen.

Weird part is that this didn't happen before, so I'm not sure what happened or what's causing it.

Would love to know if anyone has experienced the same or has fixed it? Really love the immersion and gameplay of GW2 and this issue just ticks at me in small but very annoying ways.

Hope to find some help! Thanks so much!

Garden Plot Deed - worth the 1k gems?

I was searching for some info on them but everything was from 2018, and in the meantime we had the chef 500 increase, so I wanted to know if they're useful now or not, or if the one given for free is enough. Thanks in advance!

Tabbing targets engi turrets first. WHY THO?

    Posted: 02 Jun 2020 06:20 PM PDT

In the new map tabbing always targets the turrets before the enemy engineers. This seems wrong.

Is it worth it: Basic lumber node pack

    Posted: 03 Jun 2020 07:54 AM PDT

I currently have 800 gems to spend. I don't need to spend them ASAP or anything, but I've been looking into crafting legendaries. I don't feel like the basic harvesting node pack is as useful as the lumber one would be.. I don't have a full instance yet - far from it, I have 0 lumber nodes actually. JW if anyone has this and/or finds it beneficial in any way, as well as worth the 800 gems.

TLDR (lol): title says it all
