Guild Wars 2 Kicked in PvP for Being Dead Too Long

Guild Wars 2 Kicked in PvP for Being Dead Too Long

Kicked in PvP for Being Dead Too Long

    Posted: 01 Mar 2020 02:35 AM PST

So with the current 2v2s, as far as I understand it, you just have to lie there and wait for the round to finish once you die.

I was just automatically kicked from the game for being dead for too long. I died early in the match, and my necro teammate just couldn't be killed, so I eventually started getting the "Unless you move or use a skill~" warnings starting with a 60 second countdown. Considering I was dead, moving or using a skill were 2 things outside of my capacity, so the game just booted me in the middle of a match.

Is this... intentional in PvP? Like of course the best advice will be "don't suck/don't die so quickly", but I feel like having such a short AFK timer in a game mode that allows you to do nothing until the next round starts might be a bit of an oversight.

Shout out: Thank you for this chest skin (Warlord's Raiment, light), very 17th century style. I wouldn't mind if you add more skins with that style!

Random 1sec CD on all skills

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 04:42 PM PST

1st noticed this today after friend asked about it on death Shatterer and now on reset train it is getting extremely annoying.

All your (weapon?)skills go on a ~1sec cooldown randomly, it is constantly interrupting the flow of the game and makes it feel even more laggy and unresponsive.

It only happens in crowded maps, it doesn't happen for example in Mistlock Sanctuary but it will happen while doing Chak Gerent or a HP while a meta is going on, eventhough there are no other people at the HP.

This hasn't been always like this or am I totally delusional?

Level 76. How should I prep for 80?

    Posted: 01 Mar 2020 06:15 AM PST

My main ele is now 76. I'm also tailor around 275. I've done about 10 dungeon runs so don't have a lot of that currency (mostly the tears) and nothing from pvp or WvW.

What should I do for the next few levels to get "ready" for 80? Try to get tailoring to 400? Run dungeons to get that currency to trade for decent gear? Something else?

And when I hit 80, what are the first things I should focus on? Mount? Specific type of gear?

    Ranger bug or feature?

    Posted: 01 Mar 2020 12:35 AM PST

I main a ranger and since thursday if i dismount via "1" and get most of the time my pet doesnt spawn so i am forced to enter and exit soulbeast. Also, sometimes it doesnt spawn if i dismount via x but from a different mount (most of the time if i spawn the pet manually before mounting, when i dismount it will be there, but it seems i have to do this everytime i change mounts). Also I can switch pets during combat very rarely. In 90% of the cases it says this action cannot be done during combat which is counter intuitive considering there is a buff based on pet switching which still works in the rare moments i can actually switch. And also my crystalline wings backpack disappears in combat in Dragonfall (in other areas it seems to work fine but i didnt test it enough) or once in a blue moon when emoting. Didn't have this problem with other non-gem skins.

"Flawless" Solo ARKK CM 15m:45s Record (The Final One)

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 04:53 PM PST

Hey guys, Ollie is back one last time for his final solo, it is one that was completed 5 months ago and it marks his final upload:

Lord Hizen Once invited me to a party to "help me solo Arkk" Little did I know that I would end up waiting hours for him to keep wiping repeatedly... No matter how he tried he couldn't quite pick up the kill, after a small amount of raging in chat I had the simple suggestion to add a few things to his build, we theory crafted and BOOM Hizen's Worlds first solo arkk. That theorycraft alone would spark an interest in soloing for me:

The picture of a dead snowman in Lord Hizen's world's first ARKK CM SOLO is ME (olliekendalls): https://youtu.be/tuw3Nv5yfn0

    https://gyazo.com/739b53e5ede0309df11f18009be2c400

Not much later, being hooked on theory craft, i picked up the "Arkk cm solo ALL 9 CLASSES" including one with SLIPPERY SLOPE instability (first of its kind) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pA1HraBaG2Y&feature=youtu.be

Despite that achievement, I didn't quite feel the journey was over, it had to be solo'd more quickly... The only issue was, RATS and Fractal Spoon were not only the nicest players you could meet; but held two amazingly fast world records for arkk respectively. Having watched both Fractal Spoon and Rats pov's to excess, i needed to find a way to beat their records:

    RATS RIDICULOUS RENEGADE POV: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GoSAlzm8el4&t=4s

FRACTAL SPOONS SPECTACULAR CHRONO POV: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZn7pCQvTeA&t28s

With great pleasure i would like to present my final upload and solo pov: "Flawless" Solo ARKK CM 15:45m Record: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSzD2P5frcU&feature=youtu.

    Anet's damage-on-cc philosophy

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 06:04 PM PST

So in the last patch, Anet nerfed essentially every cc skill's dmg by 99.9%. While the entire patch is a rather radical change from how it was pre-patch with several reworks, the changes to cc are probably one of the biggest ones in my opinion, because it shows a principled standpoint that apparently cc and damage can't or shouldn't go together. In my view, the philosophy of cc-should-never-do-power-damage-or-it-would-be-op is just flawed. There are a wide variety of factors that determine whether a skill is op or too impactful. The two most obvious ones are probably damage and cc type and duration, yes. I can however, without too much effort, think of at least 10 other factors which determine the skill's impact.

    1. Cast time
    2. Cooldown
    3. How telegraphed is the skill or how easy is it to dodge?
    4. Is it a skillshot (DH longbow 3 for example or renegade shortbow 3)
    5. Is it unblockable?
    6. Does it have special profession-specific synergy with other skills or traits or does it grant profession-specific benefits?
    7. Does it provide, strip or corrupt boons? If so, how many and which ones?
    8. Does it apply condis? If so, how many and which ones ?
    9. To what extent does the effectiveness of the skill depend on investing in other utility skills/weapon sets or traits? A strong skill could still balanced if it required you to invest in a traitline with 1 or 2 mediocre traits, for instance, and a weapon with 1-2 very strong skills could still be okay if it had 1-2 more mediocre skills on it.
    10. Does it have negative effects for the user? Examples are the self-cc on engi's overcharge shot, self-root on dragonhunter lb 2 or self-stun on berserker's headbutt
    11. The maximum amount of targets
    12. Does it have AoE, and if so how large is its radius?
    13. What is its range?

What it comes down to is whether there is counterplay. A skill could perfectly well do a lot of dmg AND cc if it is compensated for by having a large cooldown, is easy to dodge or has a very small aoe radius, or any other combination of some of the factors I mentioned above.

An example: hammer 5 on rev used to be a very strong but very slow and telegraphed CC & dmg (which is not to say that it didn't deserve to not get nerfed at all). Now its cast time alone is, save a measly .25 seconds, as long as the stun it provides. So even in the good scenario where you do hit it, both you and your opponent cannot do anything for 1.75-2 seconds, giving you essentially negligible reward for hitting a hard-to-hit skill. The alternatives are that you miss, are forced to cancel it to not take heavy damage in return or that your opponent stunbreaks. In all those scenarios, you would have 100% been better off not casting the skill to begin with.

The same applies in essence to greater or lesser extent to for instance several warrior skills, holo 3 and elite, reaper shroud 5 or elite, gravity well and I'm sure many others: all previously quite hard-hitting (some even long cd elite!) skills with very obvious tells that now are barely worth using when taking into account the opportunities you give to the opponent(s) while you're stuck in cast time.

This seemed almost like too obvious to write out to me but I'm just kind of stunned by the ham-fisted overhaul of virtually every cc skill by the patch, so apparently it's not that obvious. You can't blanket nerf the damage of cc-skills by 99.9% without looking at the context and say ''this is ok''. Balancing means you balance every relevant factor, not that you take a look at two and wilfully ignore the rest.

    Shredder Gyro in WvW

    Posted: 01 Mar 2020 06:37 AM PST

Frontline Scrapper is a fun and powerful build that gained some traction in the past months. The damage on Shredder Gyro hasn't been nerfed in the recent patch, its coefficient still stands at 4.8! That's a little insane considering the reduced power level.

I like the build and don't want it to be gutted completely because it has the potential to help shift the meta towards melee again. But it needs work.

Suggestion: Reduce the duration from 6 seconds to 4 seconds (= -33% damage) to bring it in line with everything else.

    Warclaw Mastery 2...but in PvE

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 09:10 AM PST

what if this was usable in both WvW and PvE? it may not be useful to people who have all the mounts already, but for players without expansions or just new players in general, a mentor with a warclaw and mastery 2 could assist new players with it in that regard (just like WvW)

    World bosses drops

    Posted: 01 Mar 2020 03:08 AM PST

Hey, I'm trying to make a list with all the bosses and its drops to make a run every day to see if I can get something rare or expensive. The thing is that on the wiki the drops don't appear for some of them, like the fire elemental, so could anyone tell me if fire elemental drops anything good? Also, someone told me that every boss has a chance to drop a precursor or something like that, could someone confirm that too? Thanks!
