    Idea

Previous record on this boss by XVII (01:30) at this point is more than a year old so we wanted to look at what can be improved. 21st September balance patch (Link) fixed a bug that prevented the usage of One Wolf Pack (OWP) and Impossible Odds on this boss. This allowed us to develop a new strategy that involved bursting down the 1st hand of the fight immediately.

Bursting the 1st hand down this way is a significant time save that triggers the 1st burst phase on the boss immediately. We have also discovered that since neither hand manages to slam down a 2nd time before we reach 25% on boss they only get to spawn swords instead of one hand spawning Shields after 1st burst in all previous records. All these effects combined we managed to shave off significant time compared to the last record on this boss. We would have liked to grind this boss to shave a bit more time to get the perfect kill, but christmas is approaching at high speed so it is time to release it.

    Composition

We used an unusual setup on our Virtues Dragonhunter dropping Zeal traitline to play Radiance/Virtues in order to be able to share Bane Signet on everyone using Perfect Inscriptions. In a golem setting this traitline combination is weaker compared to Radiance/Zeal, however it becomes a stronger option in this particular setting due to the very high uptime on Bane Signet (still a close call for us) and certain other effects (such as ramp-up on Symbolic Avenger at certain parts of the fight) . We also chose not to bring a DH with Advance to manage the Aegis uptime since with the amount of DHs we had we could simply cycle Shield of Courage (F3) to maintain Aegis which allowed every DH to use Sword of Justice.

We used two Power Soulbeasts who dropped Signet of the Wild for Frost Spirit and Moa Stance while also providing Spotter uptime for both subgroups. Moa Stance was used in conjunction with Feel My Wrath (FMW) to cover Quickness for Soulbeast and DHs in Subgroup 1. Soulbeasts were simply necessary for high OWP uptime for the burst on the 1st hand. With the phase timings we had the rotations lined up pretty good for Soulbeasts so they ended up providing solid DPS overall. We used conjure weapons from our Tempest to help Soulbeasts during 2nd hand as this would be the weakest point in their rotation with many autoattacks which we replaced with stronger conjure skills.

The Renegade provided Alacrity for the squad while also being responsible for sword usage. By using major/superior versions of Celerity sigil on different weaponsets our Renegade was able to provide Quickness for himself when he needed it during the damage windows. This self-reliance allowed us to put Renegade in Subgroup 1 which ment very high Assassin's Presence (AP) uptime for classes that would gain the most out of it. This also created a 4-6 subgroup partition which ment Empower Allies (EA) would spread to 1 additional player overall and also the Bane signet from our Firebrand wouldn't be shared with the Renegade who would get little value out of it. We went with a 100% boon duration setup to ensure high Alacrity uptime on everyone at all times sacrificing personal DPS.

We used a Power Firebrand as our Quickness source for Subgroup 2. While this class has a lower golem benchmark compared to STM Chrono or Scrapper, it becomes a very solid option in this instance once again due to the very high uptime on PI Signet. On top of this it brings Firebrand utility to the table such as Aegis which we needed for certain moments. As for the build itself it differs a bit from the standard setup in that we pick Right-Hand Strength (RHS) over Healer's Resolution in Radiance traitline and swap FMW with Mantra of Liberation for Resolution uptime. This setup on paper is around 3% weaker than the regular 25% BD setup, however it ensures 100% Resolution uptime with no gaps for the trait Retribution) while being stronger at certain burst timings due to RHS. It also provided additional boons for our Tactics Warrior which increased his DPS due to Empowered.

The Power Tempest provided 25 Might for the whole squad while bringing other utility such as Sand Squall and conjure weapons which were utilised by the Soulbeasts. Might share through Heat Sync was based on two alternating patterns which relied on blast finishers/other might sources and Overload Fire coming from the Tempest at certain points. The trait Conjurer was used to make certain conjure skills aling better with our phase timings. Tempest was also responsible for sword usage at certain parts of the fight.

The Power BS Berserker used the Tactics traitline to provide high EA uptime for the squad and also to generate a bit of Might using the trait Phalanx Strength. We decided to go with To The Limit and Last Blaze for high uptime on Berserk with our phase timings (everywhere except 1st burst) and instant Berserk at the start of the fight. We went with an off-hand Warhorn as our Berserker was responsible for Shield collection and would have gained very little from running a Greatsword in the 2nd weaponset. The blast finishers from Warhorn were handy for the Might generation at the start of the fight and Call Of Valor provided Vigor uptime for our Dragonhunters and Barrier for the squad at certain parts of the fight.

    Strategies

The strategies used in the fight were fairly straightforward but we had to account for the fact that we don't have access to Chrono pulls (Temporal Curtain).

For the burst on 1st hand at the start we have certain positioning elements in play to allow Soulbeast from Subgroup 2 to share OWP to the Dragonhunters who are in Subgroup 1. We also dropped two fire fields on both sides using Bonfire from Soulbeasts and tried to blast them as much as we can in the time window before the 1st hand slam to ensure rapid Might generation. For the burst on the 1st hand we have our Renegade catching the 1st sword that is created which is always thrown away from CA towards a certain area. This sword is cleaved instantly which allows our Renegade to use it on the 1st hand so that we have have some uptime of the damage increase debuff (50% damage modifier). This allowed us to burst down 1st hand consistenly by also adapting the rotations to account for the damage boost towards the end.

Killing the 1st hand triggers the 1st burst phase on the boss immediately. Here we pick-up the remaining 5 swords from the 1st hand and wait for the Renegade to gather 5 swords that are coming in. The boss is then burst down with 10 sword debuffs while Tempest takes over and continues to collect 7 swords. The last 3 swords are collected once again by the Renegade.

For the 2nd hand we use the 7 swords from Tempest to burst it down within 4 seconds while Renegade is once again trying to catch the 1st sword that is created so that he can use 4 swords for the 2nd burst phase on the boss. The cleave on this 1st sword in this instance was hard to get consistent so if this failed we had to hope another person caught a sword.

During the 2nd burst we place the 10 Shields from the Berserker in the case that other swords created by the 2nd hand wouldn't be cleaved in time and could therefore potentially harm our DPS players during the 2nd burst. These remaining swords (usually 3) are picked up by our Tempest during/after 2nd burst while our Renegade is trying to catch as many swords as he can that are coming in (usually 3).

After the intermission phase we use the 3 Swords from our Tempest to burn the 3rd hand immediately and position ourselves for the final burst on boss and the 4th hand as soon as possible. Our Renegade uses 3 Swords he has collected before on the boss + 4th hand so we can burst them down within 3 seconds ending the fight. Here we had to be careful about the rubble that falls down to the platform as these AoE circles can strip Aegis while also removing the Sword stacks on the Renegade if he is not careful.

    Posted: 12 Dec 2021 07:59 AM PST

    Hello fellow player !

My friend who don't have play since many years (I'm sur it's about 8 year) wanted to join me to have some fun playing together.
Sadly, his account is link to an old phone number and it prevent him to log in the website or in game. (that also why I find this security dumb)

I've send ticket for him since he can't (you need to be logged to make one) and they keep saying me again and again than he must log and send ticket himself ! Which is impossible !

I don't know what to do to help him, he start to be bored by the situation already and I really want him to join our community and have fun in this amazing game !

So, if someone got an idea or can upvote this in the hope for an Anet worker to see it I will be very helpful !

How do you think EoD will affect the class/race choice stats? Will engineer and revenant remain least popular?

    What about that new expansion?

    Posted: 12 Dec 2021 06:34 AM PST

Hi all! I've really played the game since the launch of the original through the launch of the hearth of thornes. I'm somewhat interested playing The Path of fire and then to return fully playing the new expansion. I think I've sucked D2R dry. What is the community opinion about the new expansion for returning player? Do you need to be max lvl to play the new expansion?
