    Nobody cares I killed god

    Posted: 04 Sep 2021 03:50 PM PDT

So I come up to this pirate lady in Istan who says: 'Hey you are the guy that freaking killed god. Dude awesome.' Next thing I know she tells me to fetch her some ingedriënts to make beer. Like wtf. And she even warns me that I might die because the people that own the ingrediënts wouldn't want to give them up. Like pirate lady, you just acknowledged that I killed god himself and you are scared some Jack Sparrow looking nerd is going to off me? This is just one example. Everyone knows I'm the guy who killed god and then choose to run their mouth and give me snarky comments. I don't get no respect.

Update: At the end of the quest she threatened to kill me.

I seriously thought that the quest was bugged for 45 minutes, before finding my whole squad dead at the beginning lmao.

This game needs a participation bar that's slowly depleting while being fully dead.

    Posted: 04 Sep 2021 10:15 PM PDT

Dead inside the crown pavillion in lava with the waypoint quite literally being around the corner and one raptor-leap away, and still too lazy to rezz. Watching a bar deplete like this might be a bit of a motivator.

    Has the Anniversary Sale ended?

    Posted: 05 Sep 2021 04:18 AM PDT

So is the Anniversary Sale officially over? Cause I am kind of confused: there are still some items on sale with a discount, but none of them are account upgrades or items in high demand.

Neither is there a day-by-day breakdown in the last Black Lion related newspost:

    https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/storm-tossed-beauty-with-the-tempest-cape-skin/

If the Anniversary Sale would be over it would be the first time without the following items going on sale:

    • Character Expansion Slots
    • Shared Inventory Slots
    • Name Change Contracts (usually only 1 per account though)
    • Black Lion Outfit Vouchers
    • Black Lion Weapon Vouchers
    • Black Lion Backpack and Glider Vouchers

I hope I am wrong, but if not it would be a bit of a slap in the face of the playerbase. Seeing the Anniversary Sale has the reputation of being greatest and best sale of the year.

    I am not okay

    Posted: 05 Sep 2021 12:49 AM PDT

I just read a comment that the version of Fear Not This Night sang by Asja Kadric. And that the version sang by Maclaine Deimer was Trahearne singing to himself while he was still hooked up to Mordremoth.

    Edit: blocked out a spoiler

Levels of trading in Guild Wars 2

[Spoilers] I've enjoyed Gw2 Lore to an extent, but I feel like they "pulled back the curtain" too much

    Posted: 05 Sep 2021 01:47 AM PDT

I know this is gonna be an unpopular opinion on this subreddit, but wanted to say it haha.

Something I've always found is that Gw2 tried way too hard to explain "too much" about the story and the world. It seems like its good to have unanswered questions, mysteries, and wonder. Most great fantasy stories do this to some degree. Including many video games. However when Guild Wars 2 release, they tired to...well explain everything. They had this whole cycle with the dragons, eternal alchemy being the defining science behind everything, magical ley lines, etc. The lore seemed to have gone 110% on the idea of "science" in the world. Yes, Dragons existed in Gw1 prophecies. But they were sorta cool mysteries in themselves. You'd see remnants of them or parts of their body in hibernation. They were the mysterious questions in themselves.

The lore pertaining around the major parts of the story just became boring. So far my favorite storyline in the game has been the one surrounding Balthazar. I also enjoyed Palawa Joko (of course), but I kind of felt he was more of a side quest. A fun one and one I enjoyed. But in terms of a major storyline, Balthazar just blew all previous major story lines out of the water. It was great have a enemy who had mysteries behind him and long standing connection to the world. Instead of just appearing and being a "force of nature". They seemed to have tried to personify the dragons and give them (rushed) depth. Something that never really changed my view of the dragons. We even ended up killing 2 dragons within one living story line (rather they killed themselves). Compared to Guild Wars 1 Prophecies, Cantha, and Nightfall; the Gw2 story so far as been kind of boring. I think its mainly because it has become predictable. You sorta of know what to expect from the main baddies. I mean we all sorta realized where Aurene was headed after heart of thorns and so far those predictions seem to be right. It does look like they may be trying something unpredictable with EoD; so I'm curious how that will turn out. But I do hope post EoD we get less "It was dragons all along!" every storyline. Or storylines that have an "explanation moment" of Taimi spending a few weeks in a lab or Aurene popping out of no where to explain why something is happening.

This game does epic scaled fights so well

    Posted: 04 Sep 2021 11:17 AM PDT

I've recently picked the game back up and caught back up on the PoF story, then season 4 and finished ice brood saga 2 days ago and holy shit, so many fights are so epic. Going through all the outposts on the chart map and ending up assaulting the ice citadel and there's a huge dragon as a boss. The finale of ice brood, like fuck those dragons are massive. Walking on and around kralkatorrik on dragon's descent.

So many crazy moments that really put a huge emphasis on scale. It's blown me away and I hope to find more of these in the form on world bosses and the like.

    Disable other players effects

I wonder if they will ever add this option. Imagine doing some meta events where u can actually see more than 5 ppl with 60+ fps. That would be great.

[Other] After all the lfg's for fractals and also the friends made along the way...

...I bloody got my fractal god title!

Thz for the helpers in RTI, that first teach me how to do cm100, almost a year ago now... and for the nice players that got in my friends list along the way, too many to name.

Also, some others got in my nerves and went straight to the "shadow realm of my blacklist" but that's just the nature of things.

Ohh... and lastly... sorry for any player that had to play with **my hfb during my first week playing it. You definately carried me, not the other way around**.

    Before it

    After it

Worth it? Only in 2023 can I actually answer that back xD

Can you remove the recently activated story?

    Posted: 05 Sep 2021 05:43 AM PDT

Can you remove the recently activated story?

So i've been going back and completing old story achievements in the story instances. This, of course, requires that you restart the story in order to access the instances.

I've finished with many of these stories now for the achievements but now my story log is filled with these stupid greyed out story bars.

I've obviously already completed the story and have now clicked button "Quit This Episode".

But when it "quits", it goes and shows "Continue This Episode" again, after i've just quit it!

Is there any way to ACTUALLY "Quit" the episode, i REALLY don't want to go back a third time to complete all the stupid episodes on this character again.

How casual is GW2 really? A case for difficulty tiers.

    Posted: 05 Sep 2021 05:13 AM PDT

The recent quite equally split debate about the latest patch changes as well as the current quite refreshing Crown Pavillion event got me thinking: where does this community split come from and how casual is GW2 really?

TLDR: The game from its inherent design is built in a way that equally promotes 'hardcore' or 'casual' gameplay. Many features that one side is drawn to also draws in the other side. There is absolutely no need for this game to be divisive, it just needs proper difficulty tiers. Do you like some harder content sprinkled in throughout the world?

What makes GW2 unique? At its core, it is the unforced exploration and leveling, dynamic events and its active combat system with horizontal progression as well as the great implementation of mounts.

Features like being able to level and explore the world without ever having to touch the story or checking your gear are equally appealing to people who like to relax as well as to people who like rushing to endgame. Mounts are fun for everyone. Exploration is fun for everyone. Dynamic Events are fun for everyone. The combat system, however, is only fun if you don't die.

The combat system and GW2's appeal. The difference between casual appeal and hardcore appeal of the game is the value you place on the combat itself. GW2 is the Dark Souls of MMOs. There is just nothing like it and for hardcore people the fast-paced, fluid gameplay is at the core of their experience while everything else merely adds to it. On the other hand, casual people look at the combat more as a burden to get stuff done. It is secondary at best and detrimental at worst.

Historically, the emphasis on combat has been way greater in GW2. Initially focussed on WvW and real-money sponsored Pvp, alongside dynamic events, even open world GW2 was quite difficult, perhaps too difficult. However, nowadays we are overshooting into the other direction which amplifies the content drought and increases divide between 'open-world' and 'the rest' that isn't easily overcome by simply adding random new game modes that do not teach the combat itself. From the recent drama and people cheering about the old-school crown pavillion, I really think there are a lot of people who might not be super hardcore, but wish for some harder content, not only in raids.

The interaction betweeen horizontal progession and a difficult combat system of course means that except for natural power creep, you cannot cheese content with gear. This lacking gear grind for easy power made a lot of people quit, but GW2 is just not for them. This also means, however, that casual people aka the people who are not focussed on the combat system might not be able to beat some hard content without adjusting their focus. Thus, hard content should never come at the expense of open world exploration and if we want to help out people we need some bridging gaps. I do think content like DRMs does not provide that. Rather we need some occasional harder combat focussed content sprinkled in everywhere. Some harder achievements, maybe even an open world boss one day that has potential to fail, like Tequatl in the old days. People even used to organise world record Tequatl kills with massive amounts of people. Then on top of that we need some dedicated difficult splits in instance content: easy mode, normal mode, really difficult mode. The reward structure to go along with that is a topic for a another time. Titles and achievements can add some further pseudo-difficulty tiers as well.

Harder content also has some benefits from a game design perspective. First of all, it is not only fun to play for many people, but also fun to design. Second, harder content last longer. If I play a story instance only once, the content is done in an hour. Events like the crown pavillon provide content for days if you have to figure out everything on your own the first time. Fractals and raids even more so. Third, harder content promotes community teamwork. Akwardly this might be a negative in the Solo-GW2-MMO, but if you hit a wall, you have to look up guides, watch streams and make friends that overall promote a way more immersive MMO feeling. Finally, instant gratification is nice, but only the harder achievements are memorable. Depending on what you are doing in the game, the first time you killed Liadri, the first time you killed Dhuum.. those are the moments you remember and the people you shared them with. GW2 with its amazing combat system is in a uniquely good position to capture that part of the MMO market, as well. It just has to be done right. Personally, I would for example love a mission or event like the crown pavillion where you hire a person that you then play. You get to choose a class, all gear, food etc. and then you play that character to obtain some combat focussed achivements. That would be a great way to explore the combat and promote making different builds without limitations. In instanced content like raids, we really need a tripple split into easy, normal and hard and some long-term achievements or better rewards.

How do you feel about some harder content? Yeah or nay?

After a year, I played "My Story" and noticed something...

    Posted: 05 Sep 2021 06:12 AM PDT

After helping Trahearne cleanse Orr, helping him finish his Wyld hunt and such. I was expecting he'll be with me when I fight Zhaitan. Then during the last mission, suddenly I was with Destiny's Edge and got really confusing, why the heck they are together again and it seemed all this time (off screen) they're planning on taking down the Elder dragon.

Trahearne isn't even in the fight and he even told you that it was one of his regrets during the post celebration.

Did I miss something on the story with Destiny's Edge? Last time they appeared on "My Story", they're still not in good terms with one another.

Please make a mall tweak to the Tempest elite skill Rebound

    Posted: 04 Sep 2021 12:26 PM PDT

Make it remove all conditions if the life saving portion of the effect triggers. As it works right now you delay death by a second (since none of your conditions are cleansed) which is pretty lame for an elite skill.

    EDIT: In PvP
