GW2 Tool Hub v1.2.0 Update - Material Sorting Now Implemented

    Posted: 19 Jun 2021 04:44 PM PDT

    Hello, everyone!

    What's new?

A new update for the desktop application, GW2 Tool Hub v1.2.0, is now live. With it comes new functionality for sorting materials by: category, name, current amount, goal amount, and percent complete. Check out the change list here: Change List

Want to contribute to the project?

I encourage anyone regardless of experience to feel free to contribute, whether that be simple documentation, requesting features, bug reporting/fixes, UI design, or coding, any improvement to the application helps! Check out my previous reddit post about contributing here: Contributing

Where can I report a bug?

All bugs can be reported on the issue page of github: Issue Page

Where can I find additional information about the application?

Check out the new (and kind of sparse) wiki on github: Wiki Page Here you can find some tips and tricks about using the application and information about error codes that you may get using the application.

Do I still need to uninstall the old build before installing the new build?

Yes. I currently don't have a updater built into the application yet. That is one of my priorities for the next update though. All saved files with the old build will still be compatible.

    More information and to download:

    Github Page

    Previous change lists:

    v1.1.3

    v1.1.1

    Happy gaming :D

    EDIT1: Added another change list

    EDIT2: Word fix

EDIT3: I have redone the deployment of the application and it now supports checking for updates to make it easier to keep up with application updates without having to check the github page, uninstall the application, and then reinstall the new application. Snap shot of it here: Screenshots If I have the time tomorrow I will push a new update (v1.2.1) so that users can have access to the ease of updating.

Confused what gear/prefix to go for my (Hybrid?) Firebrand

    Posted: 20 Jun 2021 08:04 AM PDT

So as the tittle says, I don't know what (prefix)gear I should go for my Firebrand.

    Here is my build: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?PWCBw+d7lRwEZYsHmJW2T/PbA-e

I'm focusing on doing decent damage while also healing/supporting allies, primarily focusing on PvE content, might delve into WvW later on. So far I've finished Personal Story and got into HoT not too long ago, so still finding out how HoT stuff works, haven't started PoF yet, I will mostly be playing duo but sometimes solo, focusing on Open World and going into Fractals later on, I don't want to stress myself too much and taking the content semi-casually, don't need to have a perfect min-maxxed build since I'm not that hardcore and want to just relax and take in the game nice and easy.

I'm asking what gear/gear prefix I should go for for the build I made, because up until now I've been Power DPS/Zerk gear Guardian/DH and want to switch to Firebrand since I want to be more of a support while still doing decent damage, so I guess this would be Condi/Heal/Support Firebrand? And because of that I'm just unsure what would be best gear to go for.

I'm sorry if this is a dumb questions and I know reddit doesn't like Firebrand as of recently, but I just want to know what gear would be good for my build so I can learn what to do, thanks whoever helps out and for taking your time to read my post.

Memorable NPCs and more quests on GW2

    Posted: 20 Jun 2021 07:42 AM PDT

Am I the only one hat think GW2 needs more proper quests?

I know that Anet wanted to go out of the way to offer a different experience than what was at the time, "traditional MMOs", but exploration and "dynamic" events don't seem to feel that need for me. Outside stories and a few "proper" quests, everything we have is just somewhat-related achievement checklist? At least some Side-Stories try to be an hybrid, but we have too few of those (Caladbolg et. al.)

With so many years of content, how many memorable NPCs do we have? It is a shame really, since GW2 has a lot of barely explored background lore. Pre-beta I hoped otherwise, but GW1 ended up doing this better.

    But there are EVENTS!

Sure, functionally they cover similar ground, but am I supposed to assume that my character is just running around and doing every tasks that she stumbles upon (and somehow magically learned about without any form of communication with relevant NPCs)? There is no interaction, nor any motivation from a in-game/roleplay point of view.

Fractals and Raids don't feel that need either, (they don't have enough story and most people treat them as speedclears anyway). At least Dungeons tried, as do the Legendaries than aren't just a mere craft-a-thon.

Request for "fun"/faceroll build for Living Stories for a burnout player

    Posted: 20 Jun 2021 05:59 AM PDT

Hi there, since about 2 years I'm a burnout player after intense years of gaming, I'm logging just for dailies and seasonal events but I would like to resume and end the story and do the news "achievemnts", maybe before the EoD release.

So I'm asking a "fun" or faceroll build to play the story with as less burden as possible, I know every builds work and I know one should pick a class/build he likes, but at this moment I'm very sick of GW2... as fun I mean something original like damage reflection, perma stun and so on... I don't want something with too effort (lik no multi-kit or multi swap elements)...

I know this is an hard request, but I'll try anyway, sorry for my english and I could not post to gw2builds because an authorization is needed (I asked how to mods), anyway if you can help me to find back some motivation I'll be grateful.

    Regarding end game content.

    Posted: 20 Jun 2021 05:48 AM PDT

So I just finished T1 fractals and I went through them like a breeze, I didn't feel any danger whatsoever with the exception of one fractal (I don't remember its name) that had a wizard last boss with a shit ton of mechanics, which I enjoyed very much. Are next tiers getting harder at all, or my AR will basically bring the difficulty down to what it is now? Also are Raids and strikes hard?

If any WoW player is here I'd like them to compare them in terms of difficulty so that I can understand better, since from what I get the GW2 community is more casual and considers different things as hard content. For examples first tier of Fractals felt like heroic dungeons to me.

    Thanks in advance.

    [Advice] Getting back into it!!

    Posted: 20 Jun 2021 05:19 AM PDT

Quick back story; played at launch and for a few months after. Life kicked in i and havent played any MMO since. I really want to get back into something, but something i can have fun in but also play casually. I was gifted the Path of Fire upgrade. So I figured why not try to get back into GW2 since I did have fun back at launch with the limited time I played.

So my questions are simple; is it worth getting into now and starting over from scratch? (I have very easily forgotten most I did first time around) And if so; whats a highly desirable profession to play that isnt relied on for heals/support lol.

And are there any really active guilds that would like a casual player like myself?

    Thanks in advance!

Not being abble to que as team in ranked pvp sucks

    Posted: 20 Jun 2021 06:48 AM PDT

I have been playing ranked pvp for a year and I am fed up with teammates that are unable to play their build or having low awareness of game type. It makes me so sick that I can't understand the logic behind it anymore. Tired of having thieves that insist on going mid and dying, or people that don't get enough deaths in mid repeatedly when the enemy team has too much sustain and we can't win the mid fight. Tired of people having their own builds that doesn't work well in pvp and best part is "I CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT". This game mode would be so much fun with 5 players that are willing to win and do what is necessary, but why arenanet? why don't you let me play with whoever I want to play with? Why do I need to deal with sunday pvpers and their low effort? I am not a pvp god myself, so my abbility to carry a team is limited especially when they keep dying more than 5 times.

Please arenanet, will you ever give me a chance to que with 5 players that I can (at least) try to win or will I need to get cancer in spvp forever?

PS: Please don't tell me to play tournaments, I am talking about "ranked" spvp.

Ele is no longer top DPS on standard hitbox, let's stop spreading the false information

    Posted: 19 Jun 2021 12:53 PM PDT

On standard hitbox, Ele damage is behind Thief, Revenant, Guardian, and Mesmer: https://snowcrows.com/benchmarks

Ele also contributes negatively to the squad's overall DPS by requiring them to stop DPSing and rezz the Ele more often.

Just want to clear the myth that Ele has the highest DPS. It's no longer true.

    To do list before EoD

    Posted: 19 Jun 2021 05:43 AM PDT

So I've been working on a to do list with things I'd like to have done before End of Dragons. So far my list consists of:

    • Unlock all elite specs
    • Unlock all elite spec weapons (ascended)
    • Minimum 250 hero points on each char
    • 3 x Aquatic Headgear (light, medium and heavy)
    • One of each underwater weapon (ascended)

Then I've got three bonus goals: - Medium power armor (ascended) - Heavy condi armor (ascended) - Light condi armor (ascended)

Do you guys have any "to do's" before EoD?

    Frostsaw Drop Rate?

    Posted: 19 Jun 2021 12:32 PM PDT

Does anyone have data on this? This damn skin is the only thing I want in the game right now and I just don't know how much more DragonStorm I can take. How close is this to say, State Lottery odds? Is Magic Find a factor at all? Should I just give up hope? https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Frostsaw
