I feel the need to talk about the most recent ele nerf Posted: 09 Jun 2021 03:01 AM PDT Hey! I'm not someone to usually make a post about something like this, but honestly I can't stop thinking of the implication. Let's revisit the first change a few weeks ago. They feel like Condi weaver should have higher consistent dps than power weaver, which is fine by me, so they buff cweaver by ~5% and nerf power weaver by ~5%. Alright, maybe a little bit of a questionable choice, but still fair. Fast forward to yesterday, where they nerfed cweaver back down to essentially what it was pre patch, while leaving power weaver untouched. I... what? So basically all that happened this balance patch is power weaver, currently one of the weakest power specs in the game, getting nerfed.
Seriously, at this point, as a Weaver main myself, I can honestly say that I don't understand why anyone would want to learn it. In my eyes it is super fun, but comparing it to other classes is also very frustrating. Weaver has one of the hardest rotations in the game, it offers basically no support of any form to the party, it is by design a dps spec, yet firebrand outdpses it with a rotation that literally involves afking in tome and also provides lots of boons? Daredevil with a rotation that just has you perma dodging and doing tons of cc? Condi Ren whilst providing alacrity to the team? Staff mirage by doing nothing (and yes, staff mirage is still strong as fuck)? The list goes on and on.
By the way, remember staff weaver? Now don't get me wrong, I definitely agree staff needed a nerf back then, but what I mean is that they completely destroyed it. They nerfed it in 3 patches, once by 5-6k, once by 3-4k, and then again by 2k. Anet essentially removed the build from the game, with a benchmark that at its peak was 47k. When looking at balance today, what I don't understand is why todays nerfs are so fucking inconsequential compared to this? If nowadays a spec is overperforming, they nerf it by such a small margin that it usually is still super busted even after the change (pchrono/ren/mirage/guard say hi). I am not saying every build should get the staff weaver treatment, in fact not a single class should suffer that fate, I'm just saying that I do not understand the evolution of completely butchering a "broken" build to "let's nerf this op build by 1000 dps, I'm sure that'll do the trick!".
The most ironic part about all of this is that, had they left staff at 47k, it would barely even be in the meta today. Its dps was massively inflated by the usage of a large dps hitbox, and, just like todays weaver builds, it did not bring anything to the table. Nowadays that just doesn't cut it. You have to provide quickness or alacrity, provide a unique buff, or provide a shit ton of boons and cc whilst doing amazing dps in order to be considered meta. A concept that IMO is flawed by design, but hey, it's what we have. If you don't have any of that, you have to have outstanding dps, like axe mirage. Weaver has none of that, no boons, no buffs, no outstanding dps. Which is why in my opinion it does not deserve getting nerfed over and over. Thanks for coming to my ted talk. [link] [comments]

World Completion World Record of 9 hours 31 minutes Posted: 09 Jun 2021 12:55 AM PDT Hello everyone,I want to present a new Central Tyria world completion world record of 9 hours 31 minutes. The previous record was held by Souls (as seen here). This is also the first time anyone has managed to do a sub 10 hours time, which has been a personal goal of mine for a while. Here is a detailed list of how much time each map took me. None of this would be possible without Teh´s trails and if you ever consider doing a world completion, I highly recommend giving his Tac0 pack a try. It helps you not only with paths, but also with mount usage, some tips on completing hearts as quickly as possible, etc. This is the build I used and it is the key to getting sub 10 hour world completion. It was specifically tailored by me and to this day it´s still work in progress. It might seem odd at first look, so here´s some explanation:Your main rotation in low level zones is steal + stolen skill. In higher level zones you do steal + skirmisher´s shot/unload + stolen skill. The reason why we do this is, because our steal is absolutely broken with all the traits. Whenever you cast it you deal damage with mug, you reset CD of one of your utility (this has an iCD), you get tons of boons and you apply tons of conditions which in combination with exposed weakness, vulnerability and bonus from mark grant you a total of 23% flat dmg increase (slightly more, since bonuses stack multiplicatively). All of these skills also have a very long range, meaning you actually don´t need to go to mobs to kill them, and you can also very frequently hit mobs that would otherwise be outside heart range. As for the cleave you have collateral damage which does surprising amount of damage. For AoE you have dagger storm. You do not need more AoE, because all of your utilities have their cooldown reduced whenever you kill anything, making its cooldown practically non-existent. This is also useful for movement, because as long as you keep killing mobs, you can keep using your shadowstep and infiltrator signet every couple seconds. The rifle also helps with movement (and condition cleansing) as death´s retreat is very strong disengage tool when you´re stuck in combat. If you have any questions feel free to ask, I´d be happy to provide more info. :-) Edit: Since some people asked for it, here´s a quick clip of what playing the build looks like in low level zone: https://streamable.com/d4fpel [link] [comments]
I got humbled real quick once I got to LWS2 Posted: 09 Jun 2021 08:56 AM PDT So for the most part I took my time finishing the base game with my Guardian, I even got 100% map completion. I finally got to LWS2 and when I arrived at Dry Top I learned real quick that dodging and paying attention are indeed required. I got absolutely destroyed by the first group of enemies I saw and I love it. Here's hoping HoT keeps up the same energy. [link] [comments]

Posted: 09 Jun 2021 12:07 PM PDT Has anyone else been DCing during cutscenes in the Hidden Arcana mission? Everytime I get to the final two cutscenes, the cutscene will end but my character will still have the "watching cutscene" icon above his head, then DC about 5-10 seconds after. This has happened four times in a row but can't finish it. [link] [comments]

PSA: Return to Caithe's Reconnaissance Squad Posted: 08 Jun 2021 01:33 PM PDT To earn credit for this achievement, you have to speak to an Asura NPC (Tactician Envoltt) in Camp Resolve after the instance. However, the NPC will refuse to talk to you unless Caithe's Reconnaissance Squad is your active story step. So, if you are replaying the episode, you will have to first complete The Ghosts of Fort Salma, Reunion with the Pact, and then Caithe's Reconnaissance Squad, in that order. [link] [comments]
Best QoL/efficiency upgrades that aren't from the gem store? Posted: 09 Jun 2021 10:31 AM PDT There's a ton of things to do in this game, bu I'm wondering what are the things that you can work to make other things faster. For example, the Prototype Position Rewinder makes jumping puzzles a lot easier. Other examples include the Ley-Energy Matter Converter and Princess. Can anyone think of more? How do they help you play the game more efficiently/improve your QoL? [link] [comments]

My biggest hope for legendary armoury is that they let you turn off some of the effects. Posted: 09 Jun 2021 01:20 PM PDT Too. much. visual. clutter. For real, as much as I'm hopeful for things like having another tab on the hero panel to specifically let you customize your equipped legendaries, or have legendaries be accessible like the current skin-functionality where it can throw them in your inventory when you want to use them, the removal of visual clutter would be ideal. Remove those WVW tentacles, turn of some of the accessory conflicts, etc... I have high hopes! [link] [comments] |
