    Marionette guide, 7 years ago.

    Posted: 23 May 2021 04:58 PM PDT

    Hi reddit.
With the upcoming return of the Marionette (13 July https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/guild-wars-2-live-summer-2021/ ) we will probably fail at first, due to it being a world boss based on mechanics and not just "attack". Back in the day my server was one of the few ones that were able to kill it, but we did it 26 freaking times in those 2 weeks. We were able to pull that off because those who analyzed the fight kept the entire map informed about what was going on. How? We did spam instructions 1 minute before it started, and then specific instructions when a new phase started. I still have those texts (and lion's archs destruction ones xD) so I've prepared/translated them for you.

Just paste them in map chat before the event starts and pray that people will read it.

If you are coming to the marionette please READ because at worst the event will depend on 3 random players, and if it's you, you want to know what to do at that time.

First let's divide on the 5 lines, 15+ persons on each one. Have some repairing walls, using turrets and skill 2 of robots to push enemies. Don't let them get close to portal.

Portal opens line by line, once yours is open enter and you will be put into rooms of 3-4 players only, along with an enemy champion you need to kill them before time runs out.

    • 1st champ is inmune unless you hit from behind. Whoever it's tanking it just don't move and let the others kill it.
    • 2nd one follows one person and it drops mines. Make it eat its own mine to make it vulnerable to damage.
    • 3rd one are just big enemies with a spinning attack, if you dodge that and floating mines you are mostly fine.
    • 4rd one doesn't move from center but it's a tricky enemy with lot of AoEs, care with positioning and don't stand in blue fields!
    • 5th one splits once killed, multiple times, pull them together and nuke all small ones with AoEs.

Once your champion is dead, you need to break the generator in time. Once all 5 generators are broken, go back to defend your line. Once all lines break their chain we win

Disclaimer: Much have changed in the game ever since 2014. We don't know if the event will remain the same. We don't know if bosses have changed, or if there will be 5 lines, or if powercreep will make it a walk, or if map chat supression will now let you paste all instructions, or anything actually. This is based on how it was done 7 years ago, but at least that's better than going blind.

I will post this info again on patch day if I remember, happy hunting😅.

    The Commander And Genuine Fear

Is there a way to make tag more visible while playing WvW?

    Posted: 24 May 2021 07:24 AM PDT

I'm really hoping that there's some hidden setting or way to make commander tags easier to see. I'm running w a new guild and I'd say that just about every time I died it was because I couldn't see the tag. If y'all are seriously just keeping track of this little blue dorito in a sea of blue squad names and AoEs I guess I'm just gonna have to git gud, but how the hell are colorblind people supposed to play WvW? It just feels like I'm missing something.

Playing GW2 with One Hand (Mouse Only)

    Posted: 23 May 2021 07:27 PM PDT

Long story short; I have been slowly losing functionality for both limbs on my left side for the past decade plus. I played GW2 for about 2 years after it was first released and was pretty good at it (Legendary Weapon crafted early on, high level fractals, lots of dungeon runs, etc...). Back then I could use both arms/hands, now I can't.

With that in mind, how feasible would it be for me to play as a super casual PVE only character with just a mouse (MMO oriented mouse, lots of buttons)? I'd just like to be able to do casual story mode and zone exploration with family members and maybe join world boss events (assuming those still exist).

    Thanks!

Are Legendary Sigils bugged or am I just really stupid

    Posted: 23 May 2021 09:31 PM PDT

I just crafted my first pair of Legendary Sigils, but I'm having trouble equipping them into my legendary weapons.

    So far, I have tried:

    • Unequip normal sigil from weapon, double click to select legendary sigil (in inventory), click on equipped, legendary weapon in equipment panel (doesn't work)

    • Unequip normal sigil from weapon, click on legendary weapon in equipment panel, click on legendary sigil in search panel (doesn't work)

    • Unequip legendary weapon, unequip normal sigil from weapon, double-click to select legendary sigil from inventory, click on legendary weapon (doesn't work)

    • Grab random ascended weapon, double click to select legendary sigil in inventory, click on ascended weapon (works, and I can remove the legendary sigil afterwards, but this isn't what I want; I want to equip it to my legendary weapons)

EDIT: I figured it out- you have to go to right click weapon -> customize -> unused upgrade slot -> select sigil, which seems needlessly complicated but whatever. Gonna leave this up as an FYI if anyone finds this in the future.

    Literally unplayable.

    Posted: 24 May 2021 08:07 AM PDT

Was crafting on my tailor last night, getting her to 500.

When you make shoe uppers, you make ONE. (treating what is obviously two things as a single pair of shoes).

When you make soles, you actually make 2 things per craft (presumably because it's for two shoes).

Setting aside this unbelievable inconsistency, I discovered further that if you buy "soles" from the tp...you only get ONE.

WTF ANet. Are there a lot of one-legged folks in Tyria, that we need to buy 1 sole from the TP because we can only make them 2 at a time?

    Literally unplayable.

How do you deal with Mesmers?

    Posted: 24 May 2021 07:39 AM PDT

I'm pretty noob at pvp, getting destroyed left and right, I think i'm learning with every death.. but then there's mesmers.. how in the hell do you guys deal with them? like all the clones and they being hard to target it's making me go crazy as a Soulbeast.

Any tips on how to approach fights with them?

    Minstrel Tempest as Heal Tempest?

    Posted: 24 May 2021 07:30 AM PDT

I'm looking for a good Healerbuild for Tempest and have found this:

    https://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Tempest_-_Support_Healer

The only thing I wonder: I already have a full minstrel set from a former chronotank.

Does Tempest benefit from boonduration or is magi's the only way to go?

    Heal Scourge Questions

    Posted: 24 May 2021 01:25 AM PDT

I am testing heal scourge out right now, and am having lots of fun. However, I am not sure when to use my shade skills, or just spam them if I have enough life force to do so?

I feel like I waste a lot of potential by spamming my cleanse/barrier shade skills, but if I don't spam them, I feel like I am not helping the team. Also some rotations would be helpful, as I am currently just spamming scepter/torch abilities, with no real prioitazion in mind (except the torches CC).

I also find it difficult to spam my Garrish Pillar, even though it's my main heal, because someone might get downed during its cooldown.

So yea, if you have any tips and tricks I didn't ask for, feel free to coment that too.

"Weapon type unusable by your profession" bug

    Posted: 23 May 2021 09:56 PM PDT

So I just started the game and I made a guardian. I've gotten him to level 15 and noticed certain weapons that I believe the guardian should be able to equip say "weapon type unusable by your profession" (For example the Greatsword and the Hammer) I've seen other people say it's a mount bug, but I don't even have a mount yet. I've also tried relogging the character and the game multiple times and that hasn't done anything.
