With End of Dragons coming up, is it reasonable to expect performance/graphical changes?

    Posted: 04 May 2021 12:08 AM PDT

Guild Wars 2 is an amazing game, but let's not kid ourselves from the technical side it's very outdated and not really future-proof. The game uses just one CPU-Core as far as I know and FPS drops can be common even on very good modern computers.

With the upcoming End of Dragons expansion, do you think we'll be getting some performance improvements or even some slight graphical changes to the engine?

Or is this "hope" that I have completely unreasonable and it'll just be some new content and that's it?

Why didn't Anet follow the setup of Jormag in vanilla?

    Posted: 03 May 2021 03:08 PM PDT

Jormag got such rich setup in vanilla. If you play Norn and choose specific storyline, it's all about Jormag before the Clawisland battle.

The novels also mentioned the Dragonspawn.

The maps also have a lot of quests about its conflict.

The first 2 episodes were ok, we got to see what happened to the spirits. Then the Sons of Svanir, the Kodan/Grawl and all the Norn plot just got tossed aside and turned into a brand new Charr story. Even if they follow the same pace in the first half of the Icebrood Saga, I doubt the story could be told well about 2 dragons and all these new things.

They should have followed the previous storylines and focus on Norn instead of Charr.

Tech experts, is my pc setup too low to run gw2 optimally, or are just my video settings?

    Posted: 04 May 2021 06:58 AM PDT

I Run on a semi high end pc I bought years ago, but Even on mediocre graphs, gw2 never goes over ~25 fps. I wonder if I can enhance my settings to performe better with better graphs with what I have:

    • Proc: Intel i7 9700k
    • Video: Geforce GTX 960
    • Ram: 8GB DDR3 RAM
    • HD: 120GB SSD Kingston/Sata (GW2 IS installed on ssd btw)

I am coming back to gw2 and was thinking about what should I upgrade on my pc to get those sweet fluid and optimal graphs, without big losses of fps, even on not high populated maps.

Anet should Host a Big Community Creation Contest

    Posted: 04 May 2021 06:12 AM PDT

They did it once, and I feel like its a missed opportunity to get the community involved in a big way. I think, this time around, they should do multiple categories, two winners each.

The categories could be weapons, Armor, hair sets (up to 3 each submission), and maybe mount/glider designs. I would really love armor and hair to be a category. This game needs more events to kill time between releases and a lengthy contest with voting periods seems pretty exciting to me. I've seen a lot of weapons, armor and hairs made by the community over time; so much talent should not be wasted. They deserve to get their creations in the game, and we deserve to rock them.

    What do you think?

    Duration Caps for Conditions Change

    Posted: 04 May 2021 02:55 AM PDT

"With most nondamaging condition durations stacking to a maximum of 10 seconds"

Why is no one talking about this change? It's absolutely massive. Especially for Slow and Chill because two Elite Specs revolve around them; Chrono and Reaper.

Chrono - Unless you're a part of a literal speedclear guild that goes for a world record you won't maintain Slow on the boss. Destroying chrono's damage in real raids, even without the removal of the 10% dmg modifier from Danger Time.

Reaper - This spec was already underperforming in instanced content (Raids and Fractals). It relies on Chilled for a 15% modifier through a minor trait, Cold Shoulder. Reducing Chilled uptime will further push it into the sidelines.

This fundamental change to condis will also affect any future elite spec that may rely on a specific condi for its traits and skills. Which is a cool and fun interaction and theme to give to a class imo.

And all for "we aim to reduce situations in which players can become stuck in combat because of a long-duration condition, preventing them from using their mount". What a meme.

The Icebrood Saga finale ruined the possibilities for Asuran or Dwarven storylines. And Deserved Primordius developement.

I get already the complait about a lazy underground filled with foes every two meters is bad, I'm speaking of huge caves: https://dynaimage.cdn.cnn.com/cnn/q_auto,w_900,c_fill,g_auto,h_506,ar_16:9/http%3A%2F%2Fcdn.cnn.com%2Fcnnnext%2Fdam%2Fassets%2F160824165428-hang-son-doong-8end-of-son-doong.jpg as example.

Volcanic with dwarven and asuran ruins that haven't been explored since a good load of time.

Even possible an atlantide like plot for finding very advanced asuran cities that were in stasis for a long time, protected by an unknown old power source.

Primordius deserves so much better than what he got:
