    Running Guild Wars without GPU

    Posted: 18 Apr 2021 02:41 AM PDT

    Hey there,

is anyone running Guild Wars without a dedicated GPU? I'm thinking about getting a mini PC for my living room to casually play GW (and maybe some retro Games) on my TV.

Will I be able to output 60fps on max settings on my 4k TV without a GPU? System requirements of GW include 64MB VRAM.

I don't want to build a Midi Tower in my living room as I already have my Xbox Series X setup.

Is it generally a bad idea? Has anyone of you done this?

Have I understood HB/MoP/WA build correctly?

    Posted: 18 Apr 2021 04:00 AM PDT

Have I understood HB/MoP/WA build correctly?

EDIT: Hold on.. Duh, this build obviously scales with number of adjacent foes! Was that all I was missing?

I'm just curious to know if I have understood correctly the HB/MoP/WA build that is used to farm Raptor Nestlings.

To keep it simple, let's assume I have 10 adjacent foes, the sword hits for 20 dmg, Whirlwind Attack (WA) deals +20 damage, Hundred Blades (HB) deals 20 slashing dmg, and Mark of Pain (MoP) deals 30 dmg, and that I cast MoP on 2 different adjacent targets:

    • Whirlwind Attack hits target foe and all adjacent foes (i.e. 10 individual hits).
      • Target and all adjacent foes take 20 dmg from the sword, plus 20 dmg from WA = 40 dmg each.
    • For every hit (i.e. 10 hits), HB deals 20 dmg to all adjacent foes.
      • WA hits each of 10 foes once, so HB deals 20 x 10 dmg to all adjacent foes = 200 dmg each.
    • Mark of Pain (x 2) deals 30 dmg (x 2) to all adjacent foes:
      • Target with MoP receives 30 dmg.
      • Alternate MoP receives 30 dmg.
      • All adjacent foes without MoP receive 60 dmg.

If I have understood this correctly, the maximum spike to a single target (i.e. one that is not hexed with MoP) should be 40 + 200 + 60 = 300 dmg. Surely Rekoff Broodmother has > 300 hp, so the attack combo must deal more damage.

    What am I missing?

    Thanks in advance.

Returning to Guild Wars and looking for Legendary Defender Of Ascalon help!

    Posted: 17 Apr 2021 02:45 PM PDT

Hi everyone! This may be a long post but here we go. I'm coming back to guild wars to play with a friend, he is starting in factions as an assassin in a few weeks and I'm starting on prophecies to get Legendary Defender of Ascalon as a warrior. I've been reading a bit and I am confused on the best way to start my journey/secondary class/most efficient runs/things I should experience before I leave the area since I've always rushed to get out before. I was hoping for some tips/possibly someone to show me the ropes? My goal is to get LDOA before he starts, so I can leave pre searing and get a run to Lions Arch then travel to Cantha and help him since he's brand new! I have completed all the campaigns about 6 years ago (easy/regular mode only) on a dervish before but I was rushing and not taking my time to really enjoy everything in this game. I want to take my time this run around and potentially go for GWAMM on my warrior. Any help would be appreciated! Also, just a random question, can you dye the EOTN armors? Some of them look really cool but all the screenshots I've seen are in red only. Thank you everyone if you made it to the end of this post! If you'd like to add me comment below and I can send you a message or just post my character name.

    New to Ironman Challenge

    Posted: 17 Apr 2021 04:38 PM PDT

Was thinking of doing just the basic Ironman challenge and possibly on warrior. Could someone be able to give me some tips on Ironman in general and what builds I can use, if any, for LDoA? I also plan on using henchies/heroes only throughout each campaign.

    Fun necromancer builds?

    Posted: 17 Apr 2021 12:29 PM PDT

Looking for any fun necromancer builds. I plan to try soul taker scythe soon and I've played MM a fair bit in the past so I'm looking for something a bit different. SS necro used to be pretty big. Is it not any good these days or is it just not considered META by PvXWiki? They seem to archive a lot of good builds just because they aren't current meta so I'm having a hard time working out if they got nerfed into the ground at some point or they just aren't considered the best any more.

    Can't get through Tahnnakai Temple

    Posted: 17 Apr 2021 05:11 AM PDT

I'm following the wiki guide but my whole team is insta-dying at room 7.

What more can I do to get past this mission?

I can't pull any of the enemies without all the elementalists nuking everyone instantly. Then I get stuck in a loop, of even if I res my whole team the death penalty is so high they die even quicker.

I'm playing a ritualist and am following previous advice of using heroes instead of henchpeople, should I swap that?

My team is currently me Rt, W Koss, D M.O.X. Mo Ogden, Mo Dunkoro, E Vekk, Me Gwen, and a Necro henchman.

I'm just trying to play through the story missions, but am having to take long breaks from the game as I'm finding it really punishing and hard to play (this Death Penalty thing feels super unfair). If your advice is "this isn't the game for you" then not playing might be my best option.

Bot mesmer wins April 2021 mAT, again

    Posted: 17 Apr 2021 03:43 PM PDT

    Bot performance: youtube.com/watch?v=bDTvI_NHklw

    For those who don't know:

Since December we have a bot guild winning constantly the Monthly Automated Tournament (MAT) and the only "help" the community got from SCW was to join a private Discord with a couple of experienced PvP players to have discussions about this situation (the players wasted hours and days discussing about this and SCW barely replied). This happened since DECEMBER, it's APRIL 2021, so far we got nothing but trolls from SCW.

He promised to fix this before February MAT, it didn't happen (he came up with the most pathetic excuse possible), since then, the guy only replies with pure nonsense and fake promises, nothing worthy to mention or to help the current situation, he even dismissed the possibility of banning these players because it would take too much effort.

Not banning the players that use racist names such as "Captain Gaschamber", "Gas Chamber", "Heimreise Statt Einreise", "Mini H I T L E R", etc. Something is wrong here with the support of this game.

They made a guild name called "Hi Reddit", so please downvote their comments.

    So:

What's the point on having active dev(s) in here if they don't care about the current situation in GvG? Sure, we got ex-devs talking about a useless easter egg that nobody found for 8 year, because of how poorly implemented it was, and also, completely useless, considering the sword uses the same skin as Emerald Blade, they couldn't even get that right.

That was just cheap marketing for the upcoming anniversary of Guild Wars, so people would have remember about it, log in and see Guild Wars is still active -they even implemented more games on observe mode- just so they can sell cdkeys or useless storage pannels, makeup change, etc. (overpriced fyi, considering how old the game is by now).

You got older games like Diablo 2, OSRS, list goes on, getting constant updates. Sure, bots are an issue even there but they ban them eventually, even a remastered version of the game is coming soon -sure, companies are not the same, Blizzard got much bigger than Anet- but, it's unreal how incompetent Guild Wars support team (what's left of it) is.

    Old threads related.

These are the same players that cheated last year, since May 2019 to November 2019.

How to request geforce now support?

    Posted: 17 Apr 2021 11:32 AM PDT

Anyone know how we can get this game on geforce now? They have it on their games listing but it's listed as offline. Guild wars 2 is available on gfn so I'm guessing this is an issue from ncsoft, not Nvidia. I went to the guild wars website but didn't really see a place for suggestions or requests. I would LOVE to see this game on gfn since I got rid of my PC and replaced it with a Chromebook a couple months ago and the original guild wars is all I'm missing.

Can anyone show me their female Ele with favourite armour? I'm really struggling to find a set I like from the pics on the wiki.
