    Hi there, I'm doing some chestruns to work on my titles. Buth while I'm id'ing gold items, I wondered what mods are worth it to salvage and sell? I know of course +30hp for melee weapons, but what other mods?

    So I'm sort of lazily going for Treasure Hunter rn, and I figured I'd try to compute some statistics on the drop rate of the locked chests, to give people some idea of what they can expect from them. There has been some research on the unofficial Wiki and I think I recall seeing some on the official one, but I've never ran into anything really conclusive (if anyone knows about some results which are, any link would be appreciated !).

    So here are the results of my drop rates from 200 locked chests (I know, not much but it's a start !), coming from the Gates of Kryta mission (apparently, the area where the locked chest is has an influence on the drop rates ?). I've focused only on the general categories of drops (gold/purple weapons and armors, skill tomes), to give a general idea of the drop breakdown, as the specifics of the weapons, runes, etc (i) are heavily area-dependent and (ii) would require a much more important amount of opened chests to accurately estimate.

    I'm into stats IRL so I also computed the 95% confidence intervals associated with these drops. They mean that if I opened 200 chests a bunch of other times, then 95% of the times, the true (unknown) drop rates would be in these intervals (some more math details below). Results in the following image :

    So just a couple back of the hand calculations (not really into trading with other players, so please correct me if some values are blatantly wrong) : if you sell unid golds at the current price of about 700 gold to players, purple stuff at about 100 gold to merchants, regular tomes at about 500 gold to players and elite tomes at about 12k (1e) to players, then the expected price of the item you get from a locked chest is about 800 gold. Identifying stuff could possibly be of much better value (I actually got 2 superior runes of vigor from the 17 golden armors I dropped), but that's harder to estimate.

    Intending to continue keeping track to reduce those intervals in the future.

    Some math details for anyone interested :
    Drop rate of multiple possible items is a multinomial distribution. Factually, I considered one category (eg golden weapons) at the time and modeled the drop rate of that category as a binomial distribution "succes = this category is dropped, failure = another category is dropped".
    I used the normal approximation, meaning that I apprxomated, for each category, the binomial distribution by a normal one, which made the calculations easier. The conditions for this approximation (np>5, n(1-p)>5) were met for every category, albeit quite barely for some of them.

    Question about Nightfall story

    When you enter the vortex near the end of the game, is that when Elona is consumed by Nightfall, but the devs wanted to give players the option of playing pre-Nightfall anytime by leaving the vortex? Thank you.

    HM Missions in Proph

    Who got banned for GWTB in recent banwave?

    I think a bunch of people got banned for GWTB.

    Now ANET's fuckery is once again exposed. They dont say whether GWTB is allowed or not allowed. Some GMs on reddit say they dont ban for it, yada yada yada. Those who blindly stick up for it are just those who are fortunate enough to not get banned.

    My problem is not with GWTB. GWTB should be allowed. It is a great QoL, opensource, and harmless add-on. The developers are intelligent, helpful, and selfless individuals. My problem is with the fuckery of ANET and those who blindly say its not a bannable offence, when clearly many get banned for it. Same applies for multilaunch, gwlauncher, texmod, etc. Although Texmod I even accept as "safe", but the point remains.
