These collections.. Anet please just stop.

    Posted: 12 Mar 2021 05:10 AM PST

Volcanic stormcaller weapons: ~1,600g and/or getting extremely lucky rng.

Dragon slayer collection: 16* 30 prismation ore and some other stuff, total value ~320 gold + 480 ores or 580 gold directly.

Azure and crimson dragon slayer collections: 32*50 prismation ore and some other stuff, total value ~ 1200g + 1,600 ores or 1,990 gold directly.

Fire and ice dragon slayer collections: 32*100 prismation ore and some other stuff, total value ~ 2,870g + 3,200 ores or 4,464 gold directly. (assuming the data-mining is correct: https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/m1bf4u/datamining_upcoming_features_from_the_march_9/)

Total cost for these "story" achievements: 5,990g + 5,280 ores or 8,634 gold directly

Can this please stop? How is this reasonable in any way or form anymore? You can get over 5 legendary weapons faster and cheaper than this. You can get entire legendary armour sets faster and cheaper than this.

    This is just insulting.

EDIT: this also shows that the prismatium ores only count for ~ 2600g of the 8600g total.

Realisticly, these prices can never be fixed, no matter how hard or easy it becomes to get the prismation ores.

The only way for these rediculous prices to ever go down, without ruining the value of mithril and orichalcum, is by having future content give prismatium *ingots* instead of bars, similar to the ones from strikes. But that would in turn devalue the ores and make the current drm's even less worth doing.

2 Guardian bug fixes from the latest patch that weren't in the notes

    Posted: 12 Mar 2021 03:05 AM PST

You can no longer stack infinite duration double signets buffs with the mistlock or adrenaline mushroom. Video demonstrating how it used to work

Because of this change, you also now get the second stack of signet when you're the second person with perfect inscription to use it (beforehand only the first person would get 2 stacks, the second only one)

Just thought people would like to be aware of these fixes, mostly the second one

    Unranked tryharding 101

    Unranked tryharding 101

So I had this sent to me, in an unranked match where me and 3 of my other guildies went in blind just to mess around and have fun. Two of which have barely tried pvp and wanted a taste with other guildies. We got stomped, and the 5th member of our team was clearly salty. :^)

You know who you are, I wont post your name, but know you're part of the reason why casual players don't attempt pvp more often.

    Racial Specializations (with UI Mockups)

    Racial Specializations (with UI Mockups)

    Hey Tyrians!

In the past, I've brought you a mockup of new guild missions and legendary armory, and today, I bring you a new idea to the table, as suggested to me by WoodenPotatoes! Racial Specializations!

    What?

Racial Specializations are a new way to add skills for everyone. As of now, we have racial skills, bound to our race and that's it. They're just vibin' there. So, what if - now bear with me - We allow everyone to use them, and add even more races and their skills!

Racial Specializations would get their own tab in training panel under the hero tab. Everyone would have access to core races (Asura, Sylvari, Human, Norn, Charr, maybe Tengu?) and could acquire their skills and abilities!

I mean, just look how big that list is! And it's not even whole!

Other races would be locked behind respective masteries or story progression. For example, Itzel Leadership mastery would now actually serve some purpose.

Tengu are currently locked behind a story progression, but what do we know, maybe they'll become core race /shrug

But wait! Corsairs aren't a race! Why are they on the list!
To give more freedom and options for skills, I've decided to include even a simple factions like Corsairs and Olmakhan as separate specializations.

    How?

Each race specialization would be concipated almost as elite specialization. That means it would also have traits. To ease balancing all those new skills and traits, the variability of build building with racial skills would be limited. Not only the number of traits is lower, but there is also not much choice in terms of customization. Remember that those skills are there to just be there and bring them on special occasions, they definitively shouldn't replace elite specializations.

Build Tab would essentially get a new specialization slot dedicated just for racial specs.

    Why doe?

Because players have tonnes of hero points with nothing to spend them on. It also creates a weird situation where whenever new Elite Specialization releases, you can easily train it to maximum with little-to-no effort.

Also, racial skills are intentionally designed to be bad, because Arenanet doesn't want players to choose specific race just to be able to raid/do fractals effectively. And in my humble opinion, the more skills the better.

    Wrapping up

I hope this sparks some interesting discussion. If you've found any typos or you have questions - feel free to comment down bellow!

New Music from Maclaine Diemer and musician Kristin Naigus :)

    Posted: 11 Mar 2021 01:56 PM PST

With a little hiccup Guild Wars 2 released the missing piece that should have played during the final battle in Braham's story mission.

And this track is the culmination of the whole musical arc since Shadow in the Ice to Jormag Rising up until Truce and now.

Champion of Primordus on Souncloud: https://soundcloud.com/arenanet/champion-of-primordus?in=arenanet/sets/icebrood-saga ; and on my GW2 music channel: https://youtu.be/KLXCsxaH4SI if you would rather listen to it on youtube. :)

Actually Maclaine wrote what I wanted to write about this track: For Primordus's Champion, I wanted to bring all the work I've done for the Icebrood Saga together into one epic track. The melody from Spirits of the Wild is now played by a woodwind instrument called a fujara, which is both epic in size and has a lot of raspy overtones. It seemed perfect to represent the union of a big lunk like Braham and an elemental dragon.

There was a second track (only 2 tracks this patch): https://youtu.be/NP1DQCMGm70 - it plays while Spirits of the Wild are being sent into Primordus by Braham.

And it actually made me very emotional, because I honestly really love this character and to see him grow into a legend like his mother Eir... just such incredible ending to his arc - always a golden heart, but dumb - everyone has a weakness, but his courage will be a star to guide us and his emo phase will be remembered forever <3

You can check this playlist of Balance's music: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLoWbt6DU6URvyLRvAl633sGW_LgVTCY9l

Let's just really appreciate the composers' work the whole Saga, especially Maclaine that honestly with his originality and finding unusual instruments made the whole Saga so very special musically.

Music nerd signs off and see you next month when Judgement is released. <3

GGB Presents: Toga Party and Grape Stomp 2021!

    Hello Tyrians!

It's that time of year again – Toga Party and the Grape Stomp! Are you excited? I know we are! The pre-event for Toga Party, the Grape Stomp, will be held on March 27th and the Toga Party itself is happening on April 24th at Noon CDT / 7 PM CEST in Divinity's Reach! Don't forget to mark your calendars!

    What's Toga Party about?

Toga Party is about fighting Multiple Sclerosis – and having a blast while doing so! In order to combat Multiple Sclerosis, there will be several donation blitzes during the festivities – all proceeds go to the MS Society of Canada to aid in MS research and to aid those that already have it!

    What is MS (Multiple Sclerosis)?

MS is a debilitating disease that attacks and damages the nerves in the body, resulting in significant reduction in the quality of their lives. The symptoms may never go away, and for those that are forced to live with this, it can be a nightmare. This is why we need to take a stand and help eradicate this horrible condition before it affects others and help those that have it.

What kind of events happen during the Party?

All sorts of things! Everything from Trivia, mini games, the Masquerade Fashion Contest, and even giveaways for awesome prizes!

Interested in joining the festivities, and looking for more information?

    Some useful links:

GGB Discord (For all the most up to date information): https://discord.gg/agSaTpy7hsGamers Giving Back Official Website: https://gamergivingback.org/MS Society of Canada: https://mssociety.ca/

Additionally, if you would like to help take part in making the Toga Party awesome this year, we are holding a volunteer meeting in our Discord on March 20th at 1PM CDT!

We really appreciate you taking the time to read this! We hope to see you there!

    Solo and pug class suggestion?

    Posted: 12 Mar 2021 04:06 AM PST

I haven't played since shortly after release of path of fire due to pc troubles, so I'm not up to date on builds and such although I have a general understanding of the classes and elite specs.

At that time I only had a thief at level 80 and haven't played any other class past level 30.

Getting back into the game I'm looking to start a new character to essentially relearn the game as well as figure out what's changed in the meta.

I'm looking for a class primarily for soloing open world quests while leveling and after and any other content able to be reasonably soloed and otherwise being in pug groups for multiplayer content. Might dabble in pvp and wvw occasionally now that my pc can handle it but ots not a priority.

I'm used to thief so I'm looking for something that isn't so much of a glass cannon but since it's for solo preferably not a pure support. Prefer power over condi, but willing to experiment as long as it's not incredibly complicated to play in terms of rotation. Would prefer not to hit like a wet noodle as well.

Also not a huge fan of guardian or ranger, but that may just be down to me not having played them enough.

    Color blind options?

    Posted: 11 Mar 2021 12:16 PM PST

Hello all. I'm color blind and have a little trouble differentiating some health bars in specific scenarios. I've looked through the settings but haven't been able to find any color blind modes. Am I missing something? Is there an option I have to enable?

The main issue is just Necromancers in PvP. With their Death Shroud health bar being a different color I can't tell which ones are good and which ones are evil until they attack me which, as you can guess, is a pretty annoying state to be in. If there are no color options, does anyone have any tips for identifying enemy necromancers?

    GW2 on 3:2 screen

    Posted: 12 Mar 2021 06:11 AM PST

    Hi,

I'm currently considering a new notebook and beside work stuff I'd also like to play GW2 on it.

Until now I've only played on 16:9 screens and I'm wondering if someone here is playing on 3:2 and can share some impressions and experience.

    TIA!

gw2 launcher extremely slow download speeds

    Posted: 12 Mar 2021 01:37 AM PST

Hey! A friend of mine suggested gw2 to me and I'm willing to give it a try. When I signed up for it, I didn't expect to wait until the 2030s to get to play the game. I tried a few of the solutions provided by users online, like setting up launch options or adding exceptions to my firewall, but nothing helped. I am still stuck downloading this game at an abysmal ~200KB/s, with my internet connection capable of reaching stable >10MB/s. Any solutions?
