TF are the Asura doing rn?

    Posted: 31 Jan 2021 09:58 AM PST

Alright. Let's start at the beginning.

Nearly 300 years ago Primordius started to wake and flooded the underground and depths of Tyria with Destroyers. They conquered the entire underground and murdered all races that couldn't flee. Nobody could face the sheer mass and power of the Destroyer Armies until 1078 AE the entire world was shaking. That what was left of the underground races fled to the surface and eventually the Great Destroyer was slain delaying the Awakening of Primordius.
1125 AE was when absolutely all Dwarves turned into Stone.
1173 AE was when Rata Novus, one of the biggest Asuran Cities was built. 98% of all Asura there were killed.
1175 AE was when Rata Novum was built but destroyed by the Druids living in the volcano.
1334 AE was when Rata sum got attacked by Destroyers and Rata Sum had no defense plan.

You see what I'm on about? Also Why Taimi hates Primordius so much. That guy fucked over the Asura for hundreds of years but for some reason they don't react to it.

They build golems and mega lasers but don't use them for some reason.

Arguably scarlet made better tech than them. She used Inquest and Human Technology to build the fleet of the Aetherpirates and Clockwork-soldiers. A giant puppet even.

What is stopping the Asura from pooling their resources and fighting the giant lizard beast that is swimming around? We could see a giant robot with death lasers and what not.

The Asura built a giant floating cube as well. Why not just arm Rata Sum and make it fight the Elder Dragons for once?

Instead they're nearly wiped out AGAIN by a simple attack and rely on the Frost Legion to protect them.

And if not a single Golem, why not many? The asurans are thinkers. They could easily build formations of Golems of different "classes" so to speak.

Or they just don't do anything, get wiped out a fourth time and still refuse to build any weapon bigger than a norn.

The Elder Dragons And Lyssa's Memories

    Posted: 31 Jan 2021 07:33 PM PST

I wanted to share with you all something that's been playing on my mind for a while now. Veterans of GW1 probably remember the Great Battle at the Gates of Heaven, a conflict to which Kormir briefly alludes in Facing The Truth. We don't know much about what happened there; even Kormir mightn't have a complete knowledge of the events of that period. But the more I think about it, the more I wonder if the Elder Dragons are treating more than just mortal traumas - they're also ministering to the gods' mental ailments.

One god sticks out to me: Lyssa. She was propelled into the spotlight by the events of Path of Fire. Some players have speculated that Balthazar was aided by Lyssa, but I'm starting to wonder whether the artifact that Balthazar used, linked to Lyssa, was designed to help him search for Lyssa without alerting the goddess of illusion and beauty of as much.

I'm proposing that Lyssa was incapacitated (note: not killed) immediately following the Great Battle at the Gates of Heaven and that her corporeal form is interred somewhere here on Tyria. As a twin goddess, it's possible that Lyssa's corporeal form projects into reality as two distinct bodies, such that there could be two sites at which she is resting. One body may represent Lyssa's light side, the other her dark side. In her unconscious state, Lyssa has projected a massive illusion into reality. I believe that this illusion is referenced in the Orrian History Scrolls, in which we read that Lyssa made her fellow gods and also all of humanity forget some kind of historical trauma(s).

Now comes the role of the Elder Dragons. I think that they may be trying to treat Lyssa's mental trauma in such a way that they safely recover her from her unconscious state. Each dragon not only represents an element, but also Lyssa's memories of each of her fellow deities, even of herself. For example, Mordremoth is processing the trauma in Lyssa's mind generated by the latter's memories of Melandru, especially during the Great Battle at the Gates of Heaven, when Melandru and all of the other gods would've revealed a side of themselves to one another and also to her that genuinely frightened the goddess.

When Balthazar penetrated Lyssa's illusion, he used her mirror to try and prevent Lyssa from recognising him. What Balthazar wanted to do was reconcile a part of Lyssa to herself by killing Kralkatorrik, hoping to aid Lyssa's recovery. I think that he has been partially successful at this.

Jormag reminds me us of Dwayna because Jormag is treating many of the traumatic memories Lyssa has of the goddess of air and life. Converssly, Primordus represents Lyssa's memories of Balthazar. These memories are generally favorable.

The DSD is a bit different though. Of a the gods, Lyssa's greatest fears were generated by Abaddon. To help Lyssa safely recover consciousness without obliterating everything and everyone with a single thought, the Elder Dragons must painfully, carefully draw Lyssa's memories together.

Matthias (1:35) and Xera (2:30) by Seventeen Elitists [XVII]

    Posted: 31 Jan 2021 12:12 PM PST

    Matthias

We entered the boss with power chronos as a meme to see their performance. It didn't take long until we broke the current record by a couple of seconds but we didn't want to stop there. Biggest time-save is the 3rd bubble skip, which happens 1:36-1:39 into the fight. That alone saved us full 10s. To achieve the bubble skip we had to take damage from Matthias' attack Shards of Rage which in most cases you have your boonDD/Thief block (or druid with staff5). That gave us a 10% damage buff for 20s in the Abomination Phase. Since Chronos do not have a natural self sustain and Matthias fight is very aura heavy, we had a heal-Thief who kept us alive. We also took 1 Devastation condition renegade who provided Assassin's Presence for the Chronos while also providing alacrity alongside the other condition Renegade.

Also, to not have the need to spread so much on the last phase, we had the Chronos stack and purposely kill themselves only to be revived by the Warrior's Elite banner, this way we got some more aa's in before the bubble would appear. We also used onheal-food just so we could push the bubble skip.

Big idea to tank the shards in abomination belongs to Muru who convinced the group that almost killing themselves will result in a great kill.

Before we started using the Banner to revive in the last phase, our BS used it to revive many, many...many people throughout https://youtu.be/TjwWjb1Wo1U .

Composition We optimised AP by grouping the Chronos and Devastation Renegade. Taking the power Warrior in a sole group with EA further buffed their DPS. Then grouping the condition SLB and other Renegade boosts the Renegade's DPS by quite a bit and lastly the heal-Thief in his own subgroup to give the chronos the most heal possible while not stealing AP.

As a note of what we tried:

    • We tried running a more offensive boon Daredevil instead of the heal-Thief while swapping impact Sigils on the Chronos for water Sigils. This proved to be quite unstable for us and we couldn't survive quite often. Also tanking shards would be rather difficult so it was not worth continuing with this
    • When we initially wanted to tank the shards we tried condition Tempest with Rebound and "Wash the Pain Away!" but the DPS from the Tempest was too low.
    • Swapping the Slb for another Chrono resulted in the same group DPS as with it but we decided to stick with the Slb for no particular reason https://youtu.be/mLlpd_7QubA.
    • We tried swapping the Invocation condition Renegade for another chrono and having all of the chronos run alacrity well to compensate and help the Devastation Renegade. Overall alacrity was fine except on the boon-Thief which resulted in worse resistance uptime so we decided not to go through with it.

Special thanks to Quatsch [XVII], Killdmaster [XVII], Rez [XVII], Lawitz [SC], Tob [SC] and Bekko [CnD] who helped immensely before but were not there for the record.

    Xera

The biggest timesave over the current record is that we skip being ported on the 2nd phase. Initially, we discovered that if you're not on the platform when you should be ported, you will not be ported so we thought about jumping off the platform and gliding back when the text appeared at 40% and 20%. Later we found out that on the edge of the main platform you are on a layer on top of the main platform, so you are not eligible to be ported. We used the same comp SC did and same strategy with almost no adjustments apart from immediate Continuum Split in P2 and using devastation condi Renegade over the standard power alacrity Renegade. We also tried to test other classes like hybrid Soulbeast and in this clip you can see how it went https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5Aa8RvrE9M. We used onheal food just for some extra DPS although it did not result in too much of an increase in P1 speed over SC.

The reason we even found the skip is because Moe wanted to try some portal shenanigans to come back from the mini game and in the end said "lets try and jump off the platform" which ended up being the key to success. We hope this discovery will produce many different new Xera kills that do not include pChronos in the future.

In a previous kill for "memes", we used on res food https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sharpening_Skull but later we found out it was not allowed per speedrun.com and therefore also RL rules. We had 1 person die in pre on that last button and before P2 2 people would glide earlier then we would revive them to get the buff. Along with other stats it gave us 75 precision which allowed us to change some Assassin armor pieces into Berserker.

Is gw2 lore good, in depth, and cohesive? Should i start playing through the story?

    Posted: 31 Jan 2021 05:46 PM PST

I love lore a lot, and i like doing research about it in games, and reading through everything. Will I be able to get into the lore in gw2 and find deep, hidden bits of lore through the world? Is it worth spending my time and energy or are there a bunch of holes and stuff that doesn't add up?

    Inquest in Cantha? (Spoilers)

    Posted: 31 Jan 2021 11:27 AM PST

As GW2 has gone on we've seen just how wide spread Inquest are. They're willing to be anywhere, from Orr to the middle of heavily militarized Charr territory. They also seem to have more resources than any known nation in Central Tyria, not only having countless small labs and city-sized complexes like the Infinite Coil Reactor and Rata Primus, but considering such places expendable enough to self-destruct when compromised.
Consider the sheer amount of resources the Inquest must have to have detonated a city equal, if not larger, than the whole Asura Capital.

On top of this staggering amount of resources they seem to be ahead of the other races in tech. While the Charr were just testing submarines the Inquest have underwater bases across the continent and sent deep sea expeditions to capture a minion of the water dragon. And important to point out: This expedition was run while Zhaitan was still active with their undead blockade stopping every other race. This proves the Inquest could break the blockade and venture further south than any known organization in modern times.

Further, their lack of airships and with how advanced their portal tech is implies they can move undetected with no known distance limit (their portals even accessing parts of the Mists)

Considering all of this, it would surprise me if we don't see the Inquest everywhere we travel, be it on Tyria (the planet, not the continent) or even in the mists.

    Any advice for necromancer class?

I'm amazed of how much damage it does compared to my engie, tho it's not the same of course. That being said, is there anything specific I should know? Like, weapon stats, life force, game style.. stuff like that.

    Current state of classes?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 06:38 AM PST

I don't really know what would be the tier list of the classes, I have a very general idea of it. Mesmer is used as Chrono support for PvE and guardian is generally good in PvE while every other class can be used as DPS. But further than that I'm not sure.

(If this question already has a good answer could I get a link to it?)

    Some general questions about GW2

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 05:58 AM PST

Hey ! Been a long time casual player and now I'm playing more and more, but I have now some questions.

*I looked for some info on internet but nothing clear ever came out... Are things like arcdps and taco allowed or not ? Never used them but it scares me that I could get bannes potentially

*I'm wasn't really into lore before but now I'm super interested. Can you explain to me why gods left tyria ? Where did they go ? Explain to me like I'm super dumb please, and if there are areas with some info in the game, can you give me some advice ?

*I saw anet post on twitter about WvW rotations (and a lot of people were salty about it). What is that, and why are they ?

Sorry for the questions, thanks in advance for answering them !
