    The Hardbugged Tournament!

    Posted: 30 Jan 2021 11:26 AM PST

    Greetings friends,

We all know that Guild Wars 2 is a highly 'feature' rich game, but what if there was a way to profit from that fact?
Well I'm here to tell you that there is : The Hardbugged Tournament!

Until the 14th of February every bug uncovered by the community will have the BUGHUNTER rewarded with 5 fabulous mystic coins with some special categories as well!

MOST GAMEBREAKING BUG : 100 MC
MOST AMUSING BUG : 100 MC
MOST BUGS FOUND : 100 MC

Act quickly though as only the first person to report a bug will be eligible for the bounty!

See all the currently submitted bugs in this spreadsheet
Submit your bugs through this form, read the instructions carefully!

Note: a bug (very broadly) is something not functioning as intended, but feel free to submit almost anything weird in the game!

You'll notice that many of our current contestants have gone for some quite obscure bugs, meaning that many more obvious ones including the Whisper of Jormag (just the entire fight let's be honest) and the horrific telegraphs in some of the new Dragon Response Missions are still up for grabs!

The end goal of this is to try to help Anet a little and I'll be forwarding over the results to see if we can get some stuff fixed!

Happy BUG HUNTING and good luck!

Where did my "Protected from capture" intel on WvW objectives go?

    Posted: 31 Jan 2021 12:06 AM PST

Months ago, in the WvW trenches, I could mouseover an objective and occasionally see some minutes "Protected from capture" which would correspond to how much Righteous Indignation the Camp Supervisor had on him. For months since, that feature has been gone! I mouseover an enemy camp, see no "Protected from Capture" buff on it, run to it and am disappointed to find I've been "lied" to because the Supervisor has RI. What gives?

[bAd] feat [XVII[ Whisper of Jormag 3 man - 7:42

    Posted: 30 Jan 2021 12:47 PM PST

    Hello gamers o/

our friends from the famous french guild, beat our record on Whisper of Jormag with time 7:46 with similar comp to our. Buut, they had some "bug-like" invisible boss w/o any attacks at last phase. Thats nice record, but some bad pepos could say that was bug abuse, we decided to Do It Again But Better and improve their kill. We did that a while ago, but hoped we will improve that after raid league, buuut we want to move on to other lowman project!

We used same comp, but thanks to our deep mechanics knowledge, we improved some details like not wasting energy on alac on p1 on jalis, some trait changes on revs (eg no AP on 3 man), a little different sigil/rune setup on firebrand. We also let our condi rev go HAM on Whisper to max damage while other classes took over might duty.

We hope you will enjoy the improved version of WoJ kill, have a wonderfull day gamers o/

Is an Ascended weapon of the wrong stats still better than an Exotic weapon of the correct stats?

    Posted: 31 Jan 2021 12:34 AM PST

Basically just the title. I'm a Marauder's build and have a Marauder's exotic, but also have an Ascended Berserker's.

So I just upgraded my graphics card from a Radeon RX 470 4G to an Nvidia GTX 1660 Super and I had hoped the extra power would really help but once again I boot up Guild Wars 2 and lo and behold my frames are still dropping like flies

Honestly, outside of t r y i n g to use dx912 to kinda help, is the engine just that hopeless?

New PC = new game = new friends!

    Posted: 31 Jan 2021 04:03 AM PST

Hi everyone! First time posting on Reddit so hopefully I'm not doing anything wrong. I am having my very first ever PC built this week (the only pro of all this smart-working), these are the specs i chose if anyone is interested:

    • CPU: i5 10400F
    • RAM: 2x HYPERX 8GB 2666MHZ Fury Black
    • MB: ASUS TUF Gaming B460-PLUS
    • GPU: ASUS GeForce GTX 1660
    • STORAGE: SSD SPG SX8200PRO 512GB
    • POWER SUPPLY: CoolerMaster 650W 80+ Bronze

I was always mainly a WoW player when I was younger (16-20then, 27now) and took a long break from video games but wanted now to approach GW2 as I've read nothing but positive opinions about both the game and the community. So here I have some questions for you guys:

    1) Is it a good "casual" experience? I am looking for a game I can play mindlessly after work during the week and make a few friends through.

    2) Is it still populated? I heard about the expansion coming I would assume that would retain if not draw players.

    3) I was never a big PvP player but I'm ready to get into it, is end-game PvP approachable as a brand new player?

    4) Speaking of PvE instead, is there an active end-game scene for a casual player with a fewhours every night? What is there to do (I know, vague question).

    5) They offer a mid-pack deal including the two expansions and some extras for around 54$ if I'm not mistaking, is it a good start or would you recommend the extra 20$ for the 74$ pack?

Thank you all, hope to see you soon in game!

Move GW2 (on a new email) onto my old GW1 email

    Posted: 31 Jan 2021 07:03 AM PST

Hey folksSo I had a GW1 account forever ago. It's on my main email. When I wanted to try GW2, it wouldn't let me register for the F2P option. I had some back and forth with support and they told me to make a new account and then link them. The docs are written so ambiguously that it just makes me shake my head. We're talking about 2 accounts and 2 sets of credentials, and this document: https://help.guildwars2.com/hc/en-us/articles/230900328 never makes it clear which they are referring to.So, the only account that has a "link" option in it, is the one I recently made on an alt email. If I use the "link" option, and then put in my original account info, *which* credentials am I going to be using from now on? Because I want to be using my original email address.

Thanks and sorry if this is obvious to you guys. I have a ticket in, but I'm not confident they even understand my concern. thx

EDIT: I finally noticed they specified which emails they were talking about in the screenshots. So I tried the process. And it says I can't link, because there is already an account linked. THERE ISN'T! :(

Idea to revitalize Guild Halls - Enemy & Boss Placement

    Posted: 30 Jan 2021 01:36 PM PST

Guild Halls are very much a sandbox for fun. Even today, people are posting on this reddit beautiful JPs they've created. It's truly remarkable.

However, with all the effort we put into spending on and decorating our beloved Guild Halls, sometimes they go a bit unappreciated by the ingame community.

One of the biggest issues with customizing GHs is... You've decorated it, and now what? We can make JPs, but that's really it. The potential to create a memorable journey feels limited.

I have an idea with limitless potential - The ability to place enemies, and possibly even customize our own bosses!

Community Driven Content (The ability to make our own dungeons!)

One of the most passionate avenues for content in GW2 is instanced group content. Whether they be strikes, raids, fractals, drms, etc....

However, it can be a very long wait between updates. We haven't had a new raid for years. Wouldn't it be nice if players could create their own raids and challenging content?

The ability to create and customize our own group content would be the perfect solution not just for guild halls, but also for community events, and possibly even raid training!

    Accessing the Dungeon Hall

I imagine, ideally, they could set up a system similar to Custom Arenas, where we could choose to make our Guild Hall publicly available, and searchable with tags.

This would also lead to more content for streamers. What if all a streamer had to do when wanting spicy raid content was simply to look up a guild hall, and overcome it? Since they won't know what to expect, there will always be something exciting! Sometimes they could even get Kaizo-tier bullshit and have the fun of theorycrafting how to overcome a certain challenge. This would be fun for viewers, to see their hardwork and creations broadcasted.

This could also lead to more interesting community-driven events, like "Create a dungeon" challenges, which ArenaNet could support with stuff like Gem Codes.

Basically, having a level creator for GW2, with publicly available guild halls and a tag system, could result in a really exciting medium whenever streamers want content.

    Enemy Placement

    Premise:

The ability to create and place enemies inside the guild hall would allow us to create interesting journeys and challenges.

    Features:

    • Craft enemies found in the open world, fractals, and raids, then place them in a guild hall, like a decoration.

      • Control whether enemy can respawn, breakbar, and what boons they have.
    • Ability to craft and spawn breakable objects, such as a vine wall, or a turret.

      • Create a locked door which we need to find a key in order to unlock.
      • Enable the Arena Turrets in the rest of the guild hall.
    • Ability to craft and place Champions

      • Including open world bosses like Axemaster Harathi

    Boss Placement

    Premise:

Some bosses can be a bit mechanically complex, some bosses require a perfectly circular arena, and some bosses might crash the game if we have a bunch of them going off at the same time.

Fortunately, Guild Halls have a perfectly circular arena for which to accommodate most boss mechanics.

    Features:

    • Ability to place one single boss inside the arena.

    • Ability to set up passive special action mechanics. (Slothasor Poison, Dhuum Bombs, Sabetha Greens, Matthias flame bombs, etc...)

    • Enemy generator (Bandits, KC Spirits, Walls, Flesh Golems, etc...)

      • Ability to activate in time intervals or after boss HP %
    • Control a Boss' boons (except Quickness/Alacrity), HP scaling, and misc. effects such as enraged.

    • Spawn misc. objects such as Matthias wells.

    Possible Issues:

    • Not all bosses will be able to be ported. Some bosses may need to be stripped down to eliminate mechanics that revolve around platforming or massive terrain shifts.

    Opposing Teams

What if you could customize the "settings" of the Guild Hall to change your "team" upon entering the hall? Such as making non-guild members hostile, and vice-versa. Or even having ingame objects which assign you a "team"?

In essence, what if you make a dungeon containing multiple opposing teams? This would further enhance the player-driven content.

    Player-driven content possibilities: (examples)

    • Multiple routes, where players attempt to race each other through a dungeon, clashing at various points of the instance. (Like the unused Fortune's Vale)

    • Guild Members trying to sabotage Invaders from clearing the guild hall, for extra challenge! (A lot like Launch Obsidian Sanctum)

    • Mock GvG battles, where players can fully customize the sandbox to their liking. The ability to make both GW1-style and GW2-style GvGs.

    Closing Thoughts

Allowing players to create their own dungeons would have many benefits for the game:

    • Revitalizing interest in guild halls, decorations, and a desire to invite others inside them.

    • Stimulate interest of raiders with limitless player-driven content

      • Limitless content for ArenaNet partners to make awesome videos.
      • Exciting content for Twitch streams and Yotube videos!
    • Create a new sink for materials, boss tokens, etc...

    • Pad the time between updates and appease both the casual and hardcore playerbase.

    • Appeal to an entire new playerbase who love sandbox content creation.

    • Expand the capability to make JPs.

    • Promote player and community interaction

    • HYPE the game!

Basically, this is like adding Mario Maker into GW2.

I truly believe this has the potential to be a groundbreaking feature that would greatly revitalize the game, stimulate community engagement, and breathe a lot of new life into GW2.

History lesson: Charr-human peace at Ebonhawke when?

    Posted: 31 Jan 2021 02:37 AM PST

Hey hey! I've been lurking around the sub for a while now, never really posted anything, but last night some lore-mania got into me and one thing has confused me, date-wise.

When did the Charr-human peace at Ebonhawke occur and were Rytlock and Crecia alive to have witnessed it? Thanks in advance to all who answer 😊

Alternative ascended piece to ‘Abaddon’s Cowl’?

    Posted: 31 Jan 2021 03:34 AM PST

Hello, for the ascended gear for a WvW build I want - it lists Abaddon's Cowl as a piece. However in the past I've used this on another character. Is there a way to get another without redoing the HoT achievements? Or is there a similar piece I can get instead? Thanks.
