Hardstuck Boneskinner Competition 2nd Place, Grenth Theft Auto [GTA].

    Posted: 21 Jan 2021 01:07 PM PST

    Hi Reddit,

First of all thanks to Hardstuck for organizing this competition and looking forward for more content like this! We are a newly formed speedrun guild and very happy to be able to get an achievement in our first run together with Grenth Theft Auto [GTA].

    Our Strat:

Nothing very special, we just used soulbeast as it has insane amount of modifiers and ofc "sic em", used maul before each SAK for another %25 and 2 warriors buffing with warhorn for another %25. So basically tried to squeeze as many modifiers as possible to increase our SAK damage. We wanted to reach %90 as fast as possible so that we can get the breakbar earlier which cut significant amount of time since SAK is doing all the damage for us after the breakbar. Renegade provided our SAKs using a shortbow for the adds and tempest was a better choice compared to druid since we could push more SAK damage with it and use arcane power while a soulbeast taking frost spirit instead, chrono did his purple stuff and that was basically it.

    "SAK" = special action key

    Log: https://dps.report/uw1Y-20210115-200029_bone

    Some POVs;

Alyster (Soulbeast): https://youtu.be/4jT6T5MFlz0 (different kill, 22.1s)

    Mario (Berserker): https://youtu.be/4Iq9T7b0y94

    Blue (Berserker): https://youtu.be/6MgivoaSLj4 (tactics)

    Namara (Alacrity Renegade): https://youtu.be/I6K-QlgR548

    Krebons (Soulbeast): https://youtu.be/qEP5ZFz0zRE

We are still looking for new gamers to join our roster! Requirements/discord link are in the video description.

Congratulations to other guilds who have participated, and congratulations to MCA for the 1st place!

Hope to see you guys in the next event!

Many people seem to dislike the current Desert Borderlands maps. Share your reason for not liking it.

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 08:24 AM PST

for sake of discussion, I wanted to know more about what people dislike about the desert borderland map. Its the newest map in WvW, but seem to be one of the most disliked generally. Mind sharing your thoughts and opinions on why this may be?

Also any ideas and solutions to the problem that you may have with this map?

What are the quickest Ascended Accessories to farm?

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 04:26 AM PST

So I haven't really farmed ascended accessories since back in 2017-2018 but I used to get mine from LS3 maps.

But now that LS4 is out, what are the quickest accessories to farm? I need a couple of new stat selectable sets.

    • Ring1?
    • Ring2?
    • Amulet?
    • Accessory1?
    • Accessory2?
    • Back Armor?

    Snowden Drifts DRM CM Strategies

    Posted: 21 Jan 2021 08:54 PM PST

I found this CM to be the hardest to do with the time limit for PUGS. Here are my tips for those who still haven't finished the 5x achievement. A healbrand (hb) is a must for heals, swiftness, and quickness. A boon strip class (ex. condi scourge) also highly recommended.

I was able to finish with a couple minutes to spare with the following tips:

    1. Keep the escort npc with swiftness at all times. Faster NPC means more time for the boss fight.
    2. I like to engage in the boss fight with jackal since it gives a large barrier. Nice for absorbing initial damage.
    3. DO NOT use waystation/emp OR any cc during his breakbar phase. The reason is because during this phase, he stands still and summons aoes. This is a great opportunity to DPS him. EMP cc is very strong and will completely destroy his breakbar, thus eliminating this crucial dps phase. Treat this like the chak gerent dps phase.
      1. NOTE: when he summons his aoes, there are some gaps that you can stand on to avoid getting hit. Standing on top of him during this breakbar phase is one of those gaps.
    4. After this phase, regardless of whether he was cc-ed or not, he will grant himself a lot of boons. It is ideal to strip his boons.
    5. Do not stand still in this teamfight!! He has an aoe that will continuously knock you down and do a lot of damage. If you (and anyone nearby) gets hit, they all get knocked down as well. Thus, be careful when rezzing a downed ally, since this aoe will kill you and your ally.

Dragon Response Missions Still Suck - Here's Why

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 07:37 AM PST

It seems like people have warmed more to DRMs lately. I don't know if this is Stockholm Syndrome setting in or if they're genuinely better and I'm just blind to it. Regardless, I think they still need significant work to make them actually fun and engaging and I'm going to do my best to distill my criticisms down.

    1. Bosses are too tanky. This isn't really about the amount of HP the bosses have, but rather about the frequency and duration of damage windows that let parties burn down the boss quickly when they do things right. I'm reminded of a D&D dungeon master tip I learned a while ago. In D&D, encounters with bosses or mobs or even just discussions all should come with a "dramatic question". For combat, that is often "can the party kill the boss?" The general rule of thumb is that encounters should end when it becomes clear to the DM that the dramatic question is answered. This way you don't have players going for multiple rounds just doing small amounts of damage to the boss while the boss either keeps missing them or does insignificant damage. THIS is the core problem I have with the bosses and with DRMs in general. The dramatic question is answered almost as soon as the encounter starts. The bosses don't do enough damage to me to overwhelm me (even if they do, the waypoint is right there and I can graveyard rush this as long as I need to) and I consistently do at least some damage to them. But it still takes an incredibly long time to get the bosses to go down because the opportunities to do damage to the boss happens to infrequently or is only open for a brief moment. So it just ends up being me standing still doing a damage rotation all the time just to slowly grind the boss down eventually.
    2. Mechanics don't matter. Or at least they don't seem to. I haven't tested this with all mechanics, but the destroyer eggs are the ones that stand out in my mind. You don't destroy the egg and a veteran spawns. That's it. A mob that is, granted, pretty tanky, but something you can kite around, cleave down, etc. Why doesn't it hatching do like some significant damage to you? Hell, a cool mechanic might be that killing the eggs turns that damage back on the boss to help with point 1. The ONE mechanic that I heard about that did seem to matter was just nerfed to not actually be a one-shot but now just does 20% of your base HP. Let's be clear here, DRMs are already Zero Consequence Content. You can res immediately once defeated, even when your allies are in combat, and the boss' HP doesn't reset. WHY is this not the perfect place for one-shot mechanics? Who cares if a player dies because they missed a tell (the tell was also wonky which is the part that needed to be fixed)? They can pop back up for free with no penalty. Boss encounters should, in my ideal world, be puzzles of mechanics that players have to figure out. Easier encounters have fewer mechanics. Challenge modes add more mechanics and have them overlap or be in conflict. And for players to figure out the mechanics, they need to actually impact the fight by either making the players waste resources like healing skills or get them to change their behavior.
    3. The pre-events are all the same thing. Press F on NPCs, kill NPCs, or (the worst) press F on an object, then press F on an NPC. These should honestly just be cut. It's why people enjoy certain strike missions. Because they let you get in, fight a boss, and then be done. The dialogue gets grating the third time you hear it. I don't care about Taimi and Braham anymore, I just want them to shut the fuck up now so I can get to the actual content. As story steps, the dialogue is fine, but as repeatable content the talking HAS to go. There's a reason why people don't run Forging Steel and Cold War much these days. It's not because the bosses are hard, it's because it takes so long to actually get to the boss.

What needs to be mentioned to a new player?

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 04:34 AM PST

Hello! I'm coming back after a 2 year break. This time I come back with my boyfriend who is usually just a casual player and to guild wars he is a newbie. We started with making new characters so I can explore the map with him teach him skills, do story together, show him dungeons and maybe later continue that to better equipment and fractals or something. My question is, how to do that without scaring him with the amount of information and things to do, I used to be a semi hardcore player with doing fractal cms everyday, farming a lot and doing raids so I'm already after a learning point. I want to show him everything, not miss out on important things but still keep it light. What are your advices on how to do that and what exactly to show him?

    Liquid aurillium infusion incoming?

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 08:06 AM PST

I was thinking, the next faction is going to be the exalted. What if they also get an infusion buyable for 75 support marks? If so, it could be the liquid aurillium, since it is an exalted themed infusion.

Help! Low FPS since 19.01 Update

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 12:06 AM PST

Like in the title, i've been having problems with my FPS since the 19.01 update, which lowerd my FPS from 80 on almost any map to 30. I have tried everything i could, including reinstalling the game, but to no avail. I have an i5 8400, a Gtx 1060 3 Gb and 8 RAM. At the moment the game is unplayable and the odd part really is that it would run very smoothly before the update, like i restarted the game that night to update it and when i got back in boom, FPS go ded :(

Anyone know what i could do????

Edit: I solved it by installing d912pxy! Now the game is running smoothly once again^^

    Good time to come back?

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 06:24 AM PST

I've been absent for at least 3 to 4 years. I had a maxed out character. I'm thinking if I do return I would want to start new.

How populated are the noobie zones?

How many expansions do I need to buy to be able to catch up?

I need to scratch my MMO fix. Thanks for the opinions in advance!
