    I am addicted to this game lol. Never played an mmorpg before and have been wanting to try one for a while. A lot of my buddies play WoW but I didn't want to have to pay a monthly subscription to play. Then one of my buddies suggested GW2 and since it's free I said sure why not. Well I've already logged about 16 hours on my first day lol (7 hour sleep in between runs). There's so much to do and so many sick looking items! Probably going to level my first character to 80 before getting the expansions, but definitely will be (I need one of those cool mounts lol). And while the game has been awesome, I wanted to say that the community so far has been even better. Had a bunch of nice random people stop by my stream and provide me a bunch of tips and tricks and walked me through some difficult parts. A few even hopped in and joined me and my friend's squad and did some quests with us. Definitely made it easier to jump into this game since there's so much stuff. Here's to many many many more hours of playing!

    Snow Crows [SC] Cardinal Sabir Speedkill (2:09)

    Hello Reddit and fellow Guild Wars 2 players,

    Snow Crows is proud to present you our latest speedkill.

    Cardinal Sabir with a kill time of 2:09 (6:51 left on the clock)

    Our strategy:

    In previous records the portals were limited by the encounter specific portal restriction, that prevented taking portals that were too far apart in height. (You can see an example of this in our first Sabir record: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYIprZ2FuEU).

    The plan for this record was to improve portals, to speed splits up.

    We managed to do that by discovering that the height restriction does not apply, when you trigger a loading screen with the portal, which happens when you take it from more than 5000 range away. Video on how they bypass height restriction: https://youtu.be/WKQQuxN4ZP4

    After a lot of testing the portals we ended up using are:

    • One Chrono precasts a portal on platform 3 by starting up there at encounter start. After phase 1 everybody takes that portal and drops down to phase 2.
    • Another Chrono precasts a portal on the last split platform when the fight starts. After phase 2 we take that portal to the end of split 2, to reach the last phase very fast.

    Reason why other portals didn't work:

    • When entering the next platform, the old platform becomes a 'killzone' where you just instantly die.
    • If everybody is in a loading screen at the same time the boss despawns, so we had somebody delay taking it to prevent that.

    Fun facts:

    • With our portals the shockwave mechanic during second phase (that we skipped with high dps) doesn't actually do damage.
    • With a bit of good timing the cc in second phase can be skipped if it would happen while Sabir wants to finish the cast of the shockwave. (We decided against abusing it, as it seems sort of game breaking)

    We concluded that power Chrono stacking is just the most powerful option because of its high damage and its high cc capability. Thanks to that we not only had faster splits, due to the portals, but also faster phase times than previous records.

    Just like in our last record we all played Sigil of Paralyzation to increase our cc as well as taking some Moas and some Signets of Domination.

    SC published a nice Sabir kill today. Tough act to follow, but I hope you will enjoy that as well.

    After our low-man strikes - Freezy and WoJ, we decided to try low-man Mursaat Overseer, 2nd boss of Wing 4.

    We started 3 man and tried to beat old 3 man record (with busted Epi) but we were lacking the damage to cleave statues, so at the end we were missing sustain as well, so we decided to go 4 man. So far the only 4 man on speedrun.com was old SC run with bugged statues. We could do better.

    Our comp is not too exciting. Diviner boon thief with trickery to cover almost all boons, especially resistance was useful, since scouts gives you annoying slow. Condi rev (RR) to provide some vulnerability, great damage and alacrity. Necro, for epidemic to have better statues control. Our scourge took claim, so boon thief could use thief runes (thief using thief runes pog). We have tried other comps, using warrior or other classes to handle scouts, but it's just worse.

    So a little disappointing that we couldn't do 3-man, but at least we improved upon the 3y old SC 4-man run by 2 minutes. Have a wonderful evening gamers o/

    volcanic stormcaller weapon droprate

    I havent gotten any volcanic stormcaller weapon chest since the patch in mid december, and I run it with multibox. Currently at around 350-400 runs without a weapon box (4 accounts). Has anyone got a drop recently or it might be really bugged?

    Raiding with a Necro

    Hi guys,

    I'm about 2 months in and am loving the necro. I would like to get into raiding eventually and have come to find out Necros are less than desirable in such settings. Will I have a tough time finding groups or do you think I should cut my loses and go with a different profession. If so, which do you recommend?

    Crazy Shower Thought: A bridge episode between Season 1 to Season 2

    Let's act like The Commander was not involved with Scarlett's rampage at all. They were in Orr the entire time cleaning up Zhaitan's mess and making sure the cleansing takes hold. Rox, Braham, Kas, Jory, Taimi, and Lord Faren (obviously) all took care of it.

    At the start of a short bridge episode a message from Trahearne arrives asking us to come back to Fort Trinity. After we arrive he assigns us to work with "The Heroes of Lion's Arch" because of the rumours that Mordremoth is awake. A feeling in the back of his head is telling him that it's true. (Ooo! Foreshadowing!) So off you go to Brisbane Wildlands to proceed in to Season 2. Which, for the most part, was written like you're still proving yourself to them and would explain why Jory is running the show at the start of it.

    Anet actually bridging the gap between Core and S2 with new content being a 0% chance at this point (also getting Matt Brenher for a one off might not be doable) does make this whole idea silly fan nonsense, I admit. But I do think retconning the game's story a slight bit would be a better tactic than using the Eye of the North to replay* parts of Season 1. YMMV.

    *Because replaying S1 shows that it was much better in memory than it actually is and it should probably stay as lost content. That's right. I said it.

    tl;dr- The Commander wasn't there for S1 and is meeting DW for the first time in S2.

    How free is this game?

    So I'm looking for a new game to play, but I don't really want to sink a lot of money into something right now and I know that a lot of mmos have paywalls, or just a lot of things that you need to buy to make the game worth playing. How is Guild Wars with that? Will I need to put money it to make it worth it, or could I grind for currency to buy content (I played DDO for a while and that's what I did for that) or is it just about all free? Thanks in advance

    Hi everyone

    i'd like to play dual dagger or sword / dagger thief for PvE

    i actually only own the core game so i'm pretty sure any class and any build will do fine for that, but if i'm looking for fractal / raid ? is there any dual dagger or sword dagger thief build for PvE HL ?

    i'm not a fan of staff, pistol or bow as main weapon, so if you have any build or advice ...
