New Year, New Raid League. Who dis?

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 02:53 PM PST

    Happy belated new years folks!

Have you heard of the raid league? No? That's fine. I'm here to re-introduce it! The raid league is a community organized raid tournament system. We've been around for two years actually but with the new year, comes new changes!

    What we are

The overall aim of the league is to bring hardcore record-setter raiders and softcore raider groups alike together in a competitive yet friendly manner. The format of the tournament is based around fastest kill-logs. A season lasts three months where two bosses are drawn randomly each month for a total of six bosses being timed, killed and compared. This all culminates in a leaderboard where your points will determine your rank and eligibility for prizes.

    Rewards this year

Last year, we had 34 teams participating in the league and six teams (three teams classified in gold and three teams silver tiers) were rewarded for their performances with prize pool support by both ArenaNet and a donated prize pool by players like you. This year, we've restructured and instead of six teams, we'll be rewarding sixteen teams!! This year, we're leaning into seasons more. The first season has already kicked off with boss draws but don't worry, there's still time to register and play for your chance at prizes! End of submission for session 1 of the Winter 2021 season is January 30th 7:00 CEST (UTC+2) / 1AM EST (UTC-5) / January 29@10PM PST (UTC-8).

    What tiers?

Don't know whether you're gold or silver tier? Don't be! We've also done away with the tiering system on registration for 2021 so you don't have to worry about knowing ahead of time what tier you have to register as! There will be gold, silver and new this year is bronze tiering. These tiers will be based on your earned points per session of two bosses and as a final leaderboard placement; but mostly, they're for bragging rights right now (see later on in the post for potential future rewards). As mentioned before, our focus this year is on the seasonal rewards. To complete the rework, we've also changed the points system to award more points overall!

The bosses for the first month of the winter season are:

    Matthias and Xera

    Prize pool

Subject to increases based on reaching donation goals, our prize pool is contingent on teams participating and donations from both inside and outside the community.

    Current Seasonal Rewards

    2 4000 gems + 200 gold

A Couple Issues with Parts of the New Living World Episode

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 11:01 PM PST

Alright, let me preface this with saying that I like the Dragon Response Missions. I think they're a healthy addition to the game and I would like to see them implemented more in the expansion. They remind me of Missions in the first game as progressive story elements that really drew me to the game in the first place. GW1 was absolutely fantastic.

    • Issue 1

We're thrown into a disaster in Thunderhead Keep. Big problems, Destroyers and all that shit. There's even a kitchen sink flying around. But hey man, the Priory has got better shit to do than their job as a faction. They wanna cower in the corner. Shits getting blown the fuck up, the ceiling is collapsing and we gotta act quick or else people are going to die. The Priory pricks are like 'Nah man, spar with me and we'll help you.' The fuck is that? We've allied with you and your smart guys. Shit is going down RIGHT NOW and you're like 'nah man'? Aren't you a member of the goddamned Pact dude? Who the fuck cares if I spar with you man, you're gonna die anyway, LET'S GO!

After my dumbass gets done with the mission, I tell my Guild mates that whoever did the writing and okayed that scenario in the first place should really look to improve themselves. It was the worst scenario and the worst writing implemented to a story that I have ever seen. No joke. I beat Sonic 06 and abused myself in my teens by doing so. I'd take that story over that mission's story any day, at least it's cohesive.

    • Issue 2

Jormag was like 'Hey man, we love you, we're gonna work out our differences, we cool and shit.' in essence. Then like 3 missions in we get 'Sike yo, we gonna kill yo ass'. ??? Okay man, it's like being neutral but willing to possibly help another country/faction, showing up on the battlefield and them being like 'Just kidding, you're gonna die now'. Why even bother with making treaty agreements and telling us you need help when you know damn well you're BSing and know we're gonna stomp your ass in combat? What a waste of everyone's time and they lose soldiers. I don't know what the writers of Anet is smoking up in Seattle but it's some whack shit man.

I'm looking forward to the upcoming patches, but if they decide to brush Jormag's bullshit under the rug, I'm gonna lose my mind and check out of this whole story.

I love you guys as a community though. Stay safe and much love.

TLDR: Me at the end of the New Living World update: ಠ_ಠ?

Tip: For Tier rewards buy at least one Deldrimor supply box

    Posted: 24 Jan 2021 02:05 AM PST

I was struggling why I was not getting tier rewards from Ogden. I bought Deldrimor supply box from Merchant. Speaking then to Odgen gives you all tier rewards. Hope this helps others like me.

    GW2 on Bootcamp?

    Posted: 24 Jan 2021 05:43 AM PST

With Anet dropping Mac support in less than a month, will Bootcamp be a viable option for the Mac players (who, like me, can't afford to get a PC right now)? Don't really know the technicalities on how the game runs in relation to the new Apple chips, but I have a 5-year old Intel-based iMac.

Also, cloud alternatives such as GeForce Now are also out of my reach at the moment.

Solution to Yggdrasil's 'Nature Spirit' Drop

    Posted: 24 Jan 2021 08:46 AM PST

Was digging around a few stuck forums from other players when I was having difficulty getting the Exotic Accessory 'Nature Spirit' to drop to complete my Druids ascended staff achievement.

The item is coded to drop very early on into you fighting Oakhearts, so much so that you can get it dropped before you unlock the Druid specialisation tree (or its accompanying achievement). If you are unlucky enough to have it drop and break it down before you unlock the Druid specialisation then you won't get an easy drop later once you can start progress on it.

SOLUTION: go kill some Oakhearts on another character. Takes less than 5 of the buggers to drop since the coding to drop is per-character, not per-account. If you don't have an alt ready to do this then quickly make a human and race to the Heartwood Pass Camp Waypoint [&BPUAAAA=] where you'll get one dropped in no time. Your alt character DOES NOT have to be a ranger. Hope this helps some people get out of the struggle that is spending mystic coins on the achievement and then not being able to complete it.

First time PvP player: problems with using a PvP build

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 10:10 PM PST

I apologize because I think this may sound pretty dumb for GW2 veterans, but I am really confused here.

Yesterday I decided to try PvP for the first time and went into the PvP lobby. When I wanted to start, the game told me that I had no PvP build.

I could choose a premade PvP build (3 options, although all 3 had the same name).

This equipped me with different weapons and skills. Of course.

What really confused me was that I still had those weapons and skills when I left PvP and returned to PvE.

Is this normal or did I do anything terribly wrong?

Normally I play a Power Necro with greatsword

    [&DQg1KTIlIj3BEhIAdwHkAA8TDxPxEr0BAxMDEwAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA=]

What do I need to do if I want to use this build in PvP?

Hello forgive me if this is already posted somewhere but I was wondering what's the best way to get experience players to help doing fractal Mai Trin or is there anyone that has to do it too and maybe we could queue up a day and time and we could all help each other? Because waiting at the Fractal portal all day is not working for me.

15 years of Guild Wars Factions as a stand alone game.

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 08:10 PM PST

This year welcomes the year of the ox on Feb 12 in the traditional chinese zodiac calendar, the Ox was last and first seen in Cantha in 2009 in Guild Wars: Factions. On April 28th 2021 exactly we will see the 15 year (!!!!) anniversary of the Guild Wars: Factions release (North America April 28th 2006, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guild_Wars_Factions). I am very curious if these particular dates will play a role in rolling out the reveals this year, as Arena Net loves giving us little celebrations for 5ths and 10ths year mark anniversary mile stones.

Returning after 8 years, need some help

    Posted: 24 Jan 2021 05:37 AM PST

    Hello!

I'm considering returning to gw2 after 8 years. I've never played the expansions, but I'm buying those if I return. My guild does not exist anymore.

I need some help, especially with the relevant things I missed and with my build and gear(I dont think its up to date anymore).

My main is a level 80 warrior.

[LWS4] Memory Fragments usable when they're not supposed to be?

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 06:16 PM PST

I'm playing through LWS4 on my first character. Currently in early episode 3 in Kourna. I saw a big glowy thing above the Allied Encampment, flew over on my gryphon and used the special action to interact with it. Lo and behold, I get a cutscene where Joko is taunting my character and Braham when Aurene flies in and eats his face. A friend told me those are meant for post-LWS4 when working on your Skyscale. Apparently that's a story cutscene I've yet to see and one of the best moments, so I'm a little miffed to have it unexpectedly spoiled. Is this a known issue? Is there somewhere to report it?

Found a chicken labeled "villager" in Snowden Drifts DRM and thought it was weird, turns out it's for a hidden achievement. I couldn't find any guides for it so I thought why not make one: https://imgur.com/a/S8lCLOf
