Lack Of direction and a solid gameplan has hurt the game and Arenanet needs to fix this. Posted: 23 Nov 2020 12:52 AM PST Its pretty obvious that the Icebrood Saga was cut short because half way in its development Anet realised they wanted/needed to do an expansion and now we are starting to see the cracks this lack of direction has caused. This is not the first time where things didnt go as planned and Anet had to change things. Arenanet surely must've realised by now, over the 8 years of them running gw2 what sticks and what doesnt at this point, no? They dont HAVE TO reinvent the wheel for every year instead of building on top of what works and what the players want. Se4 was plagued with delays and issues and an expansion never even existed at this point, when it was seemingly intented to be the end for gw2. It was the massive layoffs which changed their plans and argueably forced them to go into IBS only for things to change yet again with EoD and another restructuring internally. For the last 3 and a half year it feels like anet has tried to expand their business and work on other stuff and everytime this has flopped in some fashion (as recently as this quarter) and with the constant pressure the company faces from their publisher theres alot hanging on how well EoD does both for the investors and us players. At this point its of paramount importance for the studio to look inward and decide on a model for content delivery that will allow them to grow, expand and achieve their goals (whatever those may be). I think its pretty safe to assume that Ibs wont have the finale most of use were hoping for, esp when compaired to that of se4 but, honestly, i dont see any other alternative and would rather EoD get the extra attention rather than IBS. They have to figure out what other mmos have figured out for years so they dont find themselves in the same situation. [link] [comments]

Posted: 22 Nov 2020 08:00 PM PST I got thinking today while I was running through Frostgorge Sound. We don't know a ton about the Kodan, and even less about their god, Koda. But, a strange connection clicked for me, which started this whole theory. Each of the Kodan clans possess a Voice, which interprets the word of Koda, and a Claw. Now, there's already a massive hole in this theory: there isn't room for Koda to be an Elder Dragon, all the slots are filled. However, Koda does not necessarily have to be an Elder Dragon as of now. As seen with Aurene, it is possible for an Elder Dragon to be killed and replaced. Thus, my theory: Koda was an Elder Dragon that has been replaced by Jormag. Let's look at a list of evidence.
What do you think? At the end of the day this is just a random thing that stuck in my head, but I think it's interesting to discuss random stuff like this. In retrospect, maybe a better theory is that Koda is one of Jormag's Champions? [link] [comments]

DRMs are this year's templates Posted: 22 Nov 2020 08:34 PM PST TL;DR: be careful what you wish for. be specific in what you ask for
.
This feels like malicious compliance at this point. DRMs don't seem like the sort of thing you'd design if you're setting out to make group content with story and a sliding scale of difficulty. DRMs seem like the outcome of making a story instance replayable. ~Rambling critique ahead~ Each DRM acts like a story instance: you form a Party, load into the same instance of a map, one person opens and owns the instance and if they leave the instance for any reason, it straight up closes. This is literally the worst instance creation technology currently in the game. Fractals have an "all ready?" check instead of the story "we going, who's coming?" one and Dungeons let anyone open an unowned instance and both are free to leave and join at any time. The only open door instance creation available is the public DRM which has CMs disabled. It's fine if you want to do story among people, but is non-viable as a replayable group content route. Best guess is this is why the 4 minute pre-event exists in both public&private instances. Was the concern of players farming instances by participating only for the boss fight so high that defaulting to the jankiest party system seemed warranted? That's the jist. It's story, but I'm not mad, I'm just worried 2021's templates will be Legendary Armory and 2022's will be Cantha. [link] [comments]

Fast and hassle-free DRM completion Posted: 23 Nov 2020 08:29 AM PST If you're like me, you're annoyed at the DRM bosses not because they're a tough challenge, but because they're timewasters with large health pools and very frequent knockback attacks. The one in Gendarran Fields and its fire tornadoes and position-reading meteors for the fissures are especially annoying. Here's how to quickly finish them with minimal effort:
*When the fissure events happen for the Brisban Wildlands one, simply glide down and destroy them, then fly back up when the boss is back up. *When the boss changes positions for the Metrica Province one, simply follow. There are perching spots for all three locations of this boss. For the last location you need to perch on a small ledge halfway up the pillar near the boss. *For the Brisban Wildlands and the Metrica Province bosses, there's absolutely nothing else you need to do. You are safe from their knockbacks and damage while being able to give them huge DPS by following a standard rifle DE rotation. Nothing they can do but throw the occasional fireball at you, which your signet will quickly heal. *For the Gendarran Fields DRM, use the same strategy for the fissures. There are roofs and walls nearby all of these that you can perch on, and the meteor knockbacks can do nothing to you. For the boss, you need slightly more involvement, because while its fire tornadoes now mean jack shit to you from your perch, from time to time it will throw a pretty powerful and telegraphed fireball barrage at you, which can down you if you're not careful. So when you see the AOE indicator, quickly use rifle skill 4 to block it. It will then do 0 damage. And that's it. Give the bosses your middle finger as you proceed to riddle them with bullets. Posted: 23 Nov 2020 08:28 AM PST The game used to have a good meta before I sold my account with Radiant Greatsword being a good class. Now Guardians just look like any other class that does Condi damage, there is nothing special about playing a Guardian now. Aside from that, the meta is really fucked now with Marauder Staff being extremely overpowered and uncounterable. I've seen many people using this class now and all they do is hop around hitting people, dealing 40% of the HP regardless of their build. Yes I've seen my DH Guardian guildie get hit by one of them while having a Valkyrie Amulet and their HP dropped by 40%. ANet, you really fucked your PvP. It's even worse than Black Desert Online at this point because it would make no difference from a newbie trying to solo a full pen vet. I rebought this game for PvP and I'm already thinking of selling my account again. This will be the 3rd time since 2012. [link] [comments]

Posted: 23 Nov 2020 08:18 AM PST So I tried installing GW2hook by following a tutorial. I followed all the steps but after opening the menu with shift+f2, I'm not able to start the tutorial/do anything else in the menu (it says to press pos1 but it doesnt do anything) So far I've tried reinstalling it and running the game as an admin, nothing worked. Any help would be greatly appreciated [link] [comments]

Naming the Living World Seasons (Inspired by Icebrood Saga). Let me know your versions. Posted: 23 Nov 2020 07:02 AM PST This is just a bit of fluff, and a little bit of satire. With the 5th addition to the living worlds, Icebrood Saga, I was thinking I liked a name better than just a number. And yes it does become a bit less clear on what you mean, cause numbers are easier to remember, and indicate. So I went on a tiny brainstorm and came up with the following: Living World Season 4: A Branded Crusade Living World Season 3: A Gods Descent Living World Season 2, I dont have it, so I have to admit I cant think of anything. Satirical version: LW4: Praising Joko's Revival LW3: The Actual Fractal LW2: (open for others) LW1: Icebrood saga Champions [link] [comments]

Posted: 23 Nov 2020 04:11 AM PST Being unsure as to what to pick or how they differ, I wanted to make sure before I commit to one elite. I've Googled but I couldn't find anything straightforward about it. I have a Revenant and a Ranger, and I want to know which would be better options if one cannot switch between elites.
