Take initiative in the content you want to learn.

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 07:48 AM PDT

    Hey folks,
A topic that comes up a lot regarding end game PvE like Fractal CM's and Raids in Gw2 is the "need for KP to get into any groups."

I've recently posted my thoughts on the removal of KP, and also addressed some thoughts in a previous post about how the toxicity in game lies on all sides of the spectrum (casual players, elite players, middle road players.) Spoiler: Toxicity is not restricted to a specific skill level, but a persons personality. Now, I also have some thoughts about taking initiative in end game PvE.

    --

To TL;DR the video, I see so many people mention how there's not enough Low KP groups, or training groups to get into Fractal CM's, but instead of actually posting up on LFG, or using Mistlocked's Discord server LFG (We're a FotM guild that has been training Fractals for the past 3+ years,) they'll reside to waiting around for our weekly scheduled training nights and say that our weekly training sessions are not enough. I can't speak for other training communities, but our sole purpose is to teach the content, it's up to you to take it further. I'll just say there are an insane amount of resources available nowadays for getting into endgame PvE to help players bypass the KP requirements of the LFG, so saying that there's not enough is irksome to see. If all of these players who said that there's 'not enough training groups to learn CM's' all grouped together, I can guarantee that they could fill Auric Basin's Octovine meta with about 2-3 overflow maps, every 2 hours.

At the end of the day, if you don't see there's enough of what you desire, you need to put your desires out there, and you need to take the initiative and form your groups.

[NA] HoT Monthly Map Completion Train

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 08:49 AM PDT

    Hello again /r/guildwars2!

Another month has come and gone :) On Saturday, October 3 at 11:00 AM CDT (UTC-5), I will be leading a map completion train through all of Heart of Thorns on the NA megaserver. No waypoints, mounts, or masteries needed aside from the ones listed below. We will be covering the ENTIRETY of base Heart of Thorns, including hero points, mastery points, strongboxes, waypoints, points of interest, vistas, jumping puzzles, meta events, and hidden achievements. Yes, you read that right. EVERYTHING >:D

For the train, please make sure you have:

    • Shipwreck Peak Waypoint, [&BN4HAAA=]

    • Basic gliding (will get you 95% of map completion)

    • The ability to read

    • A pleasant attitude! <3

Tentative Itinerary for the Day (in CDT time)

    • 11:00 - 11:30 AM . Preparation and introduction to the train [Giveaway]

    • 11:30 - 1:30 PM . Verdant Brink map completion + night bosses.

    • 1:30 - 2:00 PM . Break time, preparation for Auric Basin [Giveaway]

    • 2:00 - 4:00 PM . Auric Basin map completion.

    • 4:00 - 4:30 PM . Break time, preparation for Tangled Depths. [Giveaway]

    • 4:30 - 6:30 PM . Tangled Depths map completion.

    • 6:30 - 7:00 PM . Break time, preparation for Dragon's Stand. [Giveaway]

    • 7:00 - 7:30 PM . Dragon's Stand map completion (unlocked portion of the map).

    • 7:30 - 8:00 PM . Event wrap-up and final giveaways. [Giveaway]

This will be a full day event, so you are welcome to hop in and out. I will be trying to keep the map as full as possible with overflow squads, but I can't guarantee you a spot in the case everything fills. This event will also be live-streamed at https://www.twitch.tv/eminyaa. Swing by, say hi even if you're not on the train! I'll be answering most questions there; plus, it might be helpful to have it on in the background since I tend to give warnings/information during the train itself.

I will be playing on my Chrono 'Emi Nyaa'. Squad will be up at 11 CDT exact. The first 10 minutes will be reserved for whisper invites only. Once it hits XX:10, the squad will be up in LFG → Open World → Verdant Brink. This is on a first-come-first-serve basis, so please don't spam my chat if the squads are full!

Feel free to add me on Emikadon.8542 in game or Emi#6622 on Discord. If you have any questions, you're welcome to whisper, mail, or private message me at any time, and I'll do my best to respond. Keep in mind that once the train starts, it'll be hard to respond to individual people, so please be understanding if I don't reply.

    [Giveaway Information]

Courtesy of my partnership with ArenaNet and the Overflow Trading Company [TP], I have lots of things that will be given away over the course of the event.

    • 2000 gems to giveaway, in increments of 400 gems
    • hundreds of liquid gold
    • dyes, minis, and other goodies

Everything will be done using a giveaway extension on my stream. This means that you do not have to be in the physical train in order to be eligible! Anyone on any server from anywhere in the world can participate, so long as they're present at the time of the drawing and are able to type in chat. Note: You cannot win more than one code.

Thank you, and I hope to see you there!

For non-fractal players: Has the Fractal Rush Festival encouraged you to try fractals?

    Posted: 30 Sep 2020 05:39 PM PDT

    I'm curious.

I haven't played fractals in years (due to time/life) and I'm pretty hesitant to jump back into T4's, just because I'm out of practice and don't want to inconvenience T4 groups. But I have starting doing the low T1's and T2's and forgot how fun they are, not to mention how easy they are.

So I wondering if any non-fractal players who have stayed away from them because of a preconceived notion that they are hard, have been encouraged to at least try T1 fractals? if so what have your experience been? and will you continue to play them, even if just in the low tiers?

    Question about Revenant Lore

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 06:46 AM PDT

    Hi all,

I understand revenant "invokes" these legends from the mists, but I am unsure what that exactly means... Does that mean like the revenant gets possessed by the legend? (i.e. Mallyx possesses my PC while in Mallyx and then Shiro possesses my PC when in Shiro) Or does it mean the revenant just borrows the power from the legend who are just chilling in the mist? It seems that Revenant sometimes have conversation with the active legend, so they are not simply borrowing the power but they actually have some sort of relationship with these dead legends... What would be the closest thing in real life would they be? A shaman? A medium?

Artsariiv CM 0:33 by Nightmare Shattered [Ns]

    Posted: 30 Sep 2020 08:16 AM PDT

    Buenos dias Reddit,

The longevity of player interest in the 99&98CM Fractals owes to to the plurality of approaches to each encounter. Weaver stacking established the phase 1 anomaly skip; once staff fell from grace, soulbeast reflects cemented the second and third anomaly skips as commonplace. Support chronomancer yielded to firebrand and renegade, marking the advent of phase 3 midburn. Phase 1 and 2 soon followed. Some months after Shattered Nightmare [sN] debuted the triple midburn, we did revisit Artsariiv for a few days thinking about how we could integrate the recent rework to Inspiring Virtue. Unfortunately, nothing at the time really came to fruition, but after Deez Mutts [dM] posted their impressive speedkill optimizing the previous composition, we realized that now is virtues' time to shine.

    POVs:

    Roul (Guardian)

    Ryan (Soulbeast)

    Fines (Dragonhunter)

    Lars (Dragonhunter) (34.1s kill)

    Kai (Renegade)

    Log: https://dps.report/XF28-20200929-184832_arriv

Conservation of aegis is the primary challenge for making core guardian and virtues dragonhunter work in a real boss scenario, due to the Unscathed Contender trait, which is worth 20% damage. On Artsariiv, we had to consider two sources of aegis strip. Shared Shock, the chain-lightning skill casted by the elites in phase 1, is mitigated by renegade CC. Obliterate, her massive attack in the center during phases 2 and 3, is refreshed with "Retreat!" from the guardian. Unique boon uptime is also requisite to maximize the virtues line, due to Power of the Virtuous, which is worth 1% per boon. Plenty of buffs come standard with the renegade kit, and we obtained vigor from longbow symbol precasts and stability from the Indomitable Courage trait.

In addition to the higher damage composition which obviously led to faster boss phases, our other timesave came from a four-way pretrap to accelerate the second split phase.

A quick note: pretraps which do not remain equipped on your skillbar are proscribed by speedrun community rules since January 2020. In compliance, any fractal record that took place in the last 8 months excludes Dragon's Maw and other non-slotted traps (even where dragonhunters never swapped to firebrand or base guardian). However, the use of CC consumables on Artsariiv clones, along with White Mantle Portal Device on Skorvald, bizarrely categorizes every speedkill as "unrestricted." Food swaps are ironically legal, but we feel that they are un-fun to play, unreflective of player skill, and antithetical to creativity.

Our biggest disappointment doing this run was an artificial timegate before phase 2. Completing the first split phase prior to ~13.65 seconds results in a "faster" Obliterate animation that reduces the midburn window from 7.2 seconds to 5.2 seconds. Two methods could circumvent the timegate: complete phase 1 in around 3.5 seconds, before she starts moving, which results in a "normal" Obliterate animation; or just complete phase 2 in 5.2 seconds.

Thanks for reading, and we hope you enjoyed the kill! *Thread written by Ryan

    Viable Sword Ele Build?

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 07:51 AM PDT

Hey guys! I'm a returning player and have been searching for a viable sword Ele build but haven't been able to find one. My current goal is to work on masteries with the occasional dungeon/fractal. I'm currently working on HoT map completion and story line. Would anyone mind sharing a good build? Thanks in advance!

    Enjoy the view!

I hope this has been said before, ad nauseum, because it needs to be said many more times. Stop and enjoy each vista (admittedly some are better than others.) The artwork in this game is fantastic and you may just see something that you didn't realize was there!

Edit: also look around as much as possible in instances like the personal story, dungeons, raids, living world etc. Don't want to lose your neck, but you might be amazed at what visuals are going on around you!

Here's an example from an early episode in the asuran story line:

    LW2 Achievement help

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 06:12 AM PDT

So, I really want to get all of the Luminescent armor collection. I didn't realized I HAD to complete a lot of (all of? ) the LW2 achievements to do it.

A lot of these achievements seem impossible to do on my own. Does anyone have advice/a strategy to go about it?

Where to find exotic valkyrie gear?

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 06:02 AM PDT

My Reaper is still somewhat recently 80 and I've been running around trying to get exotic to upgrade my crappy rares. I managed to get enough airship parts to get the bladed armor pieces, but the chest piece for that set is pretty much unreachable barring a great deal of luck with the Night and the Enemy event. It can't be bought for dungeon tokens and I'm not really sure where to look to find an exotic valkyrie chest piece. If someone could point me in the right direction it would be most appreciated.
