Rule of thumb for LFG roles?

    Posted: 18 Sep 2020 04:48 AM PDT

So, when doing strikes and fractals and whatnot, I see people asking for healers and alacrity and boons with a bunch of acronyms that I barely understand.

What I would like to know is if there is a comprehensive guide to group composition and/or a rule of thumb I can use when trying to make my own groups.

Something like 1 healer, 2 support, 1 alacrity, etc (yeah this is probably wrong)

Sorry for the noob ass question, but I really couldn't find anything!

ANET - why is the in-game shop interface so slow & terrible?

    Posted: 17 Sep 2020 01:23 PM PDT

I know this isn't a direct conduit to speak to ANet, but part of me hopes that if this gets traction, they might see it.

The gemstore in GW2 has been through some iteration since launch; however, it has always been slow to load, slow to navigate through, unresponsive and just generally gives a poor experience. It was fine when the game first came out, as the range of things available was relatively few, but now that there's usually quite a lot of stuff available, it's just really clunky and not fit-for-purpose.

But the thing is - the gemstore is the primary way in which we, the playerbase, can give ANet money. Like if you're dispassionate and cynical about it, you could argue it should be the best functioning part of the game.

If you're one of the players who buys gems, that is. And navigating it, having it be responsive, quick-to-browse; these things are enormously influential; they're the difference between a player maybe buying something and not buying something. There have definitely been times in the last 8 years - dozens of times - when I've closed the gemstore just because I don't want to have to try to use it.

This isn't meant to be pro-micropurchases or anything, but it's just that over the years, I've bought things from time-to-time - and each time I come back to it, I'm always stunned that it works so badly.

ANet, I'm sure it's difficult to do. You're smart people; I'm not trying to suggest otherwise. You're almost certainly well-aware of this problem - and probably don't fix it because I know, from experience, that those sorts of interfaces are very complex, and likely have legacy code, etc. But I'd also argue that more than so many things, the presently bad experience is costing you money.

If it's too much, maybe you could have a web-based version that can be browsed from a web browser? This was a good solution for Sony on the PS3, who faced a similar problem - that the PS3's on-console store was clunky and hard to use, but their website was really quite good, and that ended up being where I made all my purchases.

Honestly, if it was overhauled and made responsive, fast-to-use and just an all-round better experience, I'd be willing to bet a thousand gems that the game's revenues would significantly increase.

    Hacked??

    Posted: 18 Sep 2020 08:08 AM PDT

So I was trying to log in to my guild wars account today (which is merged with GW2) and found out it was hacked cause a mobile authenticator had been enabled on the account (which I had not enabled myself before). The password seems to be the same cause I'm directed to the input for the Authenticator key. Has this happened to anyone else before?

And if so were you able to get your account back via Arena.net support? Is there any chance I can get my account back or should I count my losses and move on?

Also it must have happened this week cause I was able to log in fine last Saturday 2020-09-12.

Is anyone else experiencing log-in server problems?

    Posted: 17 Sep 2020 05:35 PM PDT

For the past hour I have been unable to log in. I tried restarting the client, rebooting my router & modem, rebooting my pc, fixing the client, updating GPU drivers, tinkering with firewall and while it finally worked magically after none of that did it, I tried loading into a pvp game only to stall on the loading screen and I'm back to not being able to connect to log in server.

Does anyone have a clip of a failed orb transfer, even though special action key was activated and you stood inside the pylon area with 2 seconds left to drop the orb?

How to git gud with Guardian?

    Posted: 17 Sep 2020 03:44 PM PDT

When playing HoT solo (the story I mean) I feel so weak and get downed a lot.

I have equipped almost every gear with Power, Vitality and condition damage, using a shield and focus as off hand weapons to get the Aegis.

I also looked for a more defensive build with the core skills (don't have too much skill points yet to go for DH yet)

Can you guys give me any tips on how to survive better in fights?

Compared to my necro (yes, I know. he basically has 2 health bars) the guardian feels incredibly weak to me... :(

Any tips would help a lot here as I don't feel like playing him anymore sadly.
