They have enough time to build a new expansion and work on living world seasons but ALliances is all but forgotten. I'm at the end of my rope.

Snow Crows [SC] Qadim speedkill in 4:39 (8:20 left)

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 08:01 AM PDT

Hello Reddit and fellow Guild Wars 2 players,

Snow Crows is proud to present you our most recent speed kill.

Qadim 4:39 (8:20 left on the timer)

    Log (Link to dps.report)

    Our Gameplan:

The entire idea of this record was stacking Null Fields to prevent Qadim from having retaliation and protection so we could dps Qadim down without doing pyres.

Our Squad: (click on each name for a link to the Youtube video)

    Subgroup 1 Subgroup 2
    Power Chrono (Max) Daredevil (Trace)
    Power Chrono (Fallen) Daredevil (Nika)
    Power Chrono (Kiki) Spellbreaker (Luna)
    Power Chrono (Tobi)
    Power Chrono (Cody)
    Power Soulbeast (Alex)
    Alacrity Renegade (Stijn)

    Chronomancer

As previously mentioned, our power Chronos all ran Null Field and we synced them up to achieve the lowest possible protection and retaliation uptime on the boss.

In order to be able to have Continuum Split every boss phase we ran Illusions over the Domination trait line. For gear it was the regular power Chrono setup.

Two Chronos ran Phantasmal Defender to provide taunt, which is a dps increase for power Chronos.

A Chrono was kiting the boss in the first phase and two Chronos went into the last lamp together with the Thieves.

Funnily enough one of our Chronomancers ended up CS'ing on Hydra because if we over dps'd Qadim in phase 1 he would get animation locked, slowing us down by 2-5 seconds. Lowering dps there was the solution.

    Daredevil

Two Daredevils were an obvious choice for this boss. Optimizing lamp was very crucial for a good time.

And not only are they the fastest lamp duo but they also provide boons for the three dps phases using Detonate Plasma.

They ran Invigorating Precision because the extra Scholar and writ uptime was more dps.

And they also brought Shadow Portal so we were able to skip the jumping puzzle at the end.

    Soulbeast

Soulbeast does Soulbeast things, provide Frost spirit, Spotter and stance share.

Moa stance was quite crucial, because we used it in combination with Detonate Plasma, which allowed us to only use 2 Plasmas each dps phase.

It was also Soulbeast's job to open lamp during Hydra and Wyverns and it was important to have fast timings on it.

It also kited during Destroyer phase because the Chrono that kited during Hydra needed to be with the group for alacrity.

    Renegade

This class provided us with all the healing we needed using Soulcleave's Summit, which was permanently up during boss phases.

Our Renegade used a mix of Harrier stats and offensive runes and sigils to optimize healing provided from Kalla and dps.

    Warrior

Every Warrior hates to see it, the Tactics Spellbreaker.

The true sacrifice providing Winds of Disenchantment for dps phases, because Null Fields themselves were not enough.

Tactics traitline was run for EA which was a dps increase and Phalanx Strength to provide might, as DD's didn't cap might without it.

Warrior tanked the Hydra and the Destroyer for us simply because he lost the least doing so.

He also kited during Wyvern phase as he had the least personal dps there.

Please Anet, consistency with mount skills.

    Posted: 27 Aug 2020 09:49 AM PDT

    • Skill 4 on Griffon: Go up
    • Skill 5 on Griffon: Dive Down

    And now...

    • Skill 4 on Skimmer: Dive down
    • Skill 5 on Skimmer: Go up

I always press the wrong key because I've been used to how it was on griffon for years. The worst part is that if we change the keybind on it, it changes for both mounts.

The name of mount might not be accurate because I play in spanish: Grifo

    I love this game.

    Posted: 27 Aug 2020 03:21 PM PDT

    TLDR: GOOD GAME. Play it.

I have played my share of MMOs, starting waaay back in 2005 with a certain 2D feller developed by Jagex. I played around with a few others, but as soon as I started playing Guild Wars, I was a changed person, and I fell in love with Tyria, her people and maps and geography, and then Nightfall dropped and I had a little bit of a heart attack when I first started playing Dervish. And then...

...then Guild Wars 2 was eventually announced, I pre-purchased the game, and I haven't regretted a moment of it. Here are the top reasons I love this game:

    1. Amazing community. I can chat the map and get help, good conversation, and fun in almost any moment. People are friendly and helpful. 10/10, most non-toxic community ever. There are a bajillion guilds just begging people to join, and it's fun to get together with 10-50 folk to kill a big map boss. I feel connected. Playing this game feels like coming home in so many ways.
    2. Amazing gameplay. It's an MMO. You'd expect some clunkiness or serious lag when 50-100 people are on a map, casting amazingly beautiful spells and dropping rabbit cannonballs all over the Crystal Desert, but rather than inhibiting the gameplay, the number of individuals playing contributes to the fight! You're an archer and you shoot your arrows through your buddy's flame wall, now they're on fire. You're a warrior and you dash through your guild mate's black powder and now you're an invisible Great Sword-wielding kitty cat about ready to #crit the holy bananas out of a passing firefly. Not super into combat for the moment? Go do a jumping puzzle, or hey. Go find pages of a book so you can fly on your BIG HONKING DRAGON. From endgame hardcore boss fights to starting some little big guy out in the Wayfarer Foothills, you're going to have a blast. Some grinding is involved to get end-game gear but it doesn't feel like grinding, because you're doing something else in every moment.
    3. Amazing story. Sure, vanilla campaign can be sort of dry towards the end after several playthroughs, but the intro stories are COOL (norn master race). The campaigns, though, for the expansions and living world, are exhilarating. I wept at the end of Living World season four episode 5 and laughed for relief and joy in episode 6 and wept again once I saw what was required to get my BIG HONKIN' DRAGON. But, still, I'm invested in the characters. I love the plot, and how it thickens.
    4. Amazing PvP (...and WvW). Boy howdy. I get all manner of thrilled when I get the gank on some elementalist after a long 3 minute battle, and I get so salty when the warrior uses his BS OP No-skill passive to pop right back into the fray. But it's the flavor of the game and I love it. Having 30 friends behind me, charging as one on the backs of our armored ghost lions to storm the castle makes any holocaust cloak and wheelbarrow an unnecessary but cool addition.
    5. Amazing graphics. One fifth of map completion requires pausing to look at the grandeur that the designers at ANET have designed. I am enamored with the visual beauty of the game, and there's something for everyone. If you're into armor and weapons that are elegant and pretty, if you'd rather have rags and a club, or if you're into traditional MMO chainvests and leather cowls, fine. Skins are rampant. If you prefer admiring vistas in frozen wastelands, by all means. Play Norn master race. You like deserts, jungles, or underwater views? This game has it. You can enjoy exploring on foot, with friends, or on your BIG HONKIN' DRAGON.
    6. AMAZING BIG HONKIN' DRAGONS (and other mounts). I've played games where the mount system sucks or doesn't contribute to the gameplay. Not so with Guild Wars 2. Your mounts are your best friends, especially in the expansions.

In summary: I think this game is amazing. I love how awesome the community is. I love feeling like I have some say in the direction the game takes, and I am grateful to ANET for contributing to my entertainment and friendships for the past 15+ years.

    Here's to many more.

Edit: fixed details of season in point 3

    Skimmer underwater speed

Am I right that the Skimmer has only land speed when underwater?

It's definitely slower than abover water.

With the game coming to steam, this is a great opportunity to use the mentor tag as intended.

    Posted: 27 Aug 2020 09:52 AM PDT

Imagine how awesome it would be if during the steam launch, hundreds of veterans turned on their mentor tags to help with events, guide through jumping puzzles, and answer questions about the game's mechanics, builds, strategies, or just to chat and make new players feel welcome!

Edit: As some people are pointing out, this could come across as annoying. In your opinion, what would be the best way to be an open and welcoming community to help players stick around?
