Fun Ritualist build I discovered during playthrough on my second Factions only account

    Posted: 01 Jul 2020 10:33 PM PDT

So, I've had a second account for a while and occasionally been playing it to max whatever I can with access to Factions only. I experimented a little bit and came up with a pretty cool and unusual 'teleporting bomber' rit build. It goes like this:

    Channeling Magic: 12+1+3

    Spawning Power: 8+1

    Deadly Arts: 10

    1. Dark Prison/Death's Charge
    2. Destruction
    3. Assassin's Promise
    4. Ancestor's Rage
    5. Lamentation/Essence Strike
    6. Rupture Soul
    7. Optional (I use Nightmare Weapon to finish off targets if they're still not dead)
    8. Optional (Dash for speed or Shadow Sanctuary for extra tankiness before jumping in)

The idea is to use Destruction+Rupture Soul combo for a big spike, with filler skills doing some extra damage and charging the spirit so it deals full damage when you destroy it.

BiP might be required (yes, I use heroes from my main account:p) depending on skill choices.

    Dragon Arena has fallen

    Posted: 01 Jul 2020 04:05 PM PDT

In recent years, Dragon Festival has always been hard on Dragon Arena, what with it starting a day late and the npc being absent from the American district of GToB, but it seems that this year it has finally proven too much for us.

For those of you that have never had the pleasure, Dragon Arena is an event arena that comes with Canthan New Year, Anniversary Celebration and Dragon Festival. It's a 6v6 game of dodgeball with gameplay so heavily dependent on individual player skill that it attracted many dedicated players. After Guild Wars 2 launched we noticed that it was what we considered to be extremely dead, I mean there were only 2 games on at once, sometimes only one during the transition from European to American prime times, if that's not dead what is right? How naive we were.

Fast forward to 2018, the regular players decided that we would all aim to play at 8pm BST since we scarcely managed to get any games leading up to that time. We would have maybe 4 hours on a good day.

And now here we are: Dragon Festival 2020. It started out okay, we had games on the first day that it was available (Sunday) but they didn't last as long as usual. The next day I think we managed to get 9 people in the outpost at one time, plenty would come and go but we could never get more than that to stay. Yesterday and today we had 6-7 people at once.

It was a downhill battle from the start but at least for this particular event I think we've finally lost. If we're lucky the weekend may bring us some consolation games, but I don't have much faith in that happening.

Help me make a viable "Monkway" build!

    Posted: 01 Jul 2020 06:26 AM PDT

Hey guys, title says it all, I'm looking for feedback and advice for making a Monkway (8 primary Monks) build that can clear some of the more challenging areas of the game (FoW HM for example).I have tested some ideas (for example 5x Word of Censure smiters + 3 prot/heal Monks) but haven't had a great deal of success so I'm looking forward to hearing your ideas!

Skills from secondary professions are of course needed, but I'm not too interested in running a poor man's SoS build for example (Mo/Rt with a Ritualist bar and no Monk skills), I think that kinda defeats the purpose.I'm also not a big fan of pcons as that makes this whole project less challenging.

A build that I've been thinking about for example is Mo/Me frontline with Mantra of Inscriptions + Signet of Judgment (and other signets), with a /Rt running Earthbind for long lasting KDs and AoE damage, but Beastmaster smite builds could also work well.

I'd love to hear from any and all of you who had tried something like this before or have any ideas for making a viable build!

    Hey,

I'm farming money for the obsidian armor right now.

does make it sense to buy now ectos (value is 8,5-9k currently) ?

or should I wait until the price is lower?
