Updated discretize.eu and summary of changes

    Posted: 24 Jul 2020 11:01 AM PDT

    Hello everyone,

Discretize [dT], a fractal focused guild has updated the website for the recent balance patch. Since the last reddit post, a lot has happened in fractals and on our website!

    Check out the site here!

(in case of a blank page please use ctrl+f5)

We want to encourge everyone who enjoys fractals to strive for improvement! The first step to improve is to read more about the workings of not only your build but also how the game and the meta works. After that you can use the #looking-for-static channel on our discord server and find likeminded people to play with on a daily basis.

In case any questions arise you can always ask on our public discord server. We provide in depth analysis for high-end statics too in case they struggle to execute the strategies or want to learn new ones.

If you already have played a fair share of fractals and feel confident on your class and you wanna bring your gameplay to the next level you are very welcome to apply to our guild here. (EU only)

    Changes:

    • Created a site that explains how the current meta works. It explains what is the current meta, how it works, how the builds interact with each other, why its hard to substitute builds, what to play in PuGs where people frequently play their own builds. Especially worth noting is, that condi firebrand performs extremely well in PuGs as a quickness provider: we put a lot more emphasis on condi firebrand in this update as it is frequently – in suboptimal team compositions - the superior choice over power firebrand.
    • We updated all important builds to 162 AR. This is due to the fact that when you insert +9 Agony infusions into all 18 slots you end up with 162 AR. We do not see a point in supporting gear choices with +5 infusions since +9s are not expensive at all. The next step is to get fractal god – this allows you to use your relics to buy a tear of alba and increase your AR to 222. And finally every build, that does not crit cap on 222 AR has a third build, that critcaps with x amount of AR. For guardian it is 203 AR for example, for warrior 276 AR.
    • Arenanet changed the duration of the exposed effect (50% damage modifier after the CC bar is broken) in 99 CM. We adjusted the rotations to deal with that change. Most noteable is Ensolyss where the traditional rainbow composition (weaver-soulbeast-warrior-renegade-firebrand) has a slightly harder time now compared to substituting the weaver with a second soulbeast.
    • Made the application site a lot more appealing.
    • Updated all the benchmark videos.
    • General spelling, grammar and rewording of all guides and builds.

    Class specific changes:

    Soulbeast:

Soulbeast received a huge update compared to the last time we posted on reddit. Tremendous amounts of effort went into providing valuable, accurate and usable information for the community. The page now contains information for both PuG runs and runs with high-end strategies alike! A section regarding underwater combat was introduced. Spirit management is explained.

Overall – despite not being the easiest class to play – we highly recommend to play soulbeast. It provides so much utility to the party while still being self-sufficient and providing superior DPS compared to all other DPS – it is even on par with weaver. The self quickness and boon extension, huge amounts of CC and the elite skill "One Wolf Pack" makes soulbeast a great pick for PuGs and organized teams alike.

    Renegade:

The renegade guides also got updated to make dealing damage as a renegade more accessible. While PuGging we encountered a lot of renegades that deal damage that is on par with a harrier heal firebrand especially on days where the mistlock instability "No Pain, No Gain" is present, which is an issue that we meant to address in this update. The guide now includes a very basic burst rotation and also information how it needs to be altered for every boss. In addition to that there is now an entire section about how to deal with the "No Pain, No Gain" instability in a way that does not render your DPS neglectable.

Another thing we want to put emphasis on is, that the renegade is NOT solely responsible for breaking CC bars, except for Arkk where the special action key is also available. Renegade does about a third to half of the bar depending on the boss. CC is a group effort of all members in the party.

    Warrior:

The berserker has not changed much due in the recent updates. It still provides DPS that comes close to the DPS of the soulbeast and weaver, while providing high amounts of CC and buffs the party with banners. In this update we put a lot more emphasis on the strength of the skill "For Great Justice" as many people play !!!without!!! a weaver or a heal firebrand that has the ability to maintain 25 stacks of might and are also not blasting might during the fight and therefore losing huge amounts of DPS by having less than the optimal 25 might. In that case it is a huge DPS increase for the party to bring "For Great Justice" instead of the signet.

    Firebrand:

People were wondering if the recent changes to "Feel My Wrath" changed anything to the firebrand build. The answer is yesno. If you are running in an organized static, you need to change nothing, but time your Mantras a little better.

For elaboration: on 222 AR you are dropping quickness with "Feel My Wrath" at around 60-70 seconds in the fight. You need exactly 24.6% boon duration to maintain permanent quickness. So in organized parties where you phase fast you can coordinate to drop quickness in splitphases (Skorvald updrafts, Artsariiv CC adds…). For groups, that operate on the slower spectrum of killing CM bosses however it is recommended to get a few diviner pieces as power firebrand and concentration sigils as condi firebrand.

    Reaper:

Yes, we are acknowledging the existence of this build. A friendly player with the name jes on the public discretize discord took the time to write fully fleshed out guides for all CM encounters and also updated the reaper build.

Unfortunately, even after the latest balance patch, reaper is not an optimal choice in an otherwise meta composition and we recommend picking and practicing a meta build, for maximum efficiency in all levels of play.

    Daredevil:

The daredevil does not need AR to critcap now thanks to the trait changes. We updated the gear accordingly.

Thanks for taking the time to read, we wish all players – casuals and more invested ones alike – a great time in fractals.

The Guild Wars 2 Raiding League - Core Appreciation Challenge - Twin Largos 3:50 (Record 3:48)

The Guild Wars 2 Raiding League - Core Appreciation Challenge

DISCORD: https://discord.gg/dZUVtkF EVERYONE WELCOME TO JOIN

Not sure if the winner guild wants to post as well

Challenge: 9 core professions (no doubles) and one flex which can be whatever we wanted.

    Boss: The Twin Largos

    League: Gold

    Time: 3:50 min

    Place: 2nd, lost by 1.585s :(

    Log: https://dps.report/m89H-20200721-230042_twins

    Sub 1

    Lederhosen – Condi Boon Chrono

TheLegendaryLyn - Power Banner PS Warrior

    Linka – Condi Necromancer

    JuanPunch – Condi Engineer

    Divorus – Power Virtues Guardian

    Sub 2

    Mike – Condi Scepter Mesmer

    Leguama – Condi Boon Thief

    Sefik – Condi Spirit Ranger

    Xeberneth – Power Staff Elementalist

    Roca – Condi/Heal Revenant

Xeb Strim Again [pliz] – The name was just a joke I came up with in 30 seconds but Lyn took it serious.

The main goal when creating the comp was, of course, maximizing our boon and damage output. Choosing a Chronomancer as the elite specialization was a given since we needed a class that could generate Alacrity for its subgroup and some Quickness for the whole squad.A condi boon Chronomancer was chosen since it could provide Alacrity for its subgroup and 10-man Quickness with Time Warp while still doing decent DPS via Confusion.

We have used a hybrid condi/heal Revenant build that generated Alacrity for its subgroup and healed the squad with the help of Ventari stance while also doing decent DPS. This healing combined with the help of certain other classes like the Necromancer bringing Transfusion, Signet of Vampirism and Vampiric Presence or the Guardian bringing Signet of Courage and Virtue of Resolve was enough to sustain the squad.

We decided to go with a condi boon Thief since it had the option to steal Detonate Plasma from Kenut. If we hadn't used this option to generate Quickness starting from the second platform our Chronomancer would have had to run a build based on the Seize the Moment trait trying to give 10-man Quickness which would severely decrease its personal DPS. Since we had access to two Signet of Inspirations our condi boon Thief could run a lower boon duration build which meant we sacrificed minimal personal DPS.

Might was mainly generated by Detonate Plasma assisted by our Warrior running the trait Phalanx Strength and certain other Might sources (Blood is Power and Fire Lesser Elementals).

We have decided to use the Portal strat since we believed it would bring enough value in this instance since splitting would make it significantly harder for us to maintain certain boons and sustain the two sides with enough healing.

We did not expect this comp to have such an easy time with Largos, even beating the times of usual raid full clears some of us did with serious comps. This was mostly possible due to many hybrid builds and having no dedicated healer. It was a fun challenge that shed light on how inferior some core classes are to their elite specs, especially Necro and Ele, but also how certain core specs could be utilized to create some interesting build like the hybrid condi/heal Rev. Hopefully this proves that meta is not a must as long as you know what you are doing.

    Builds:

    Chronomancer

    Warrior

    Ranger

    Necromancer

    Guardian

    Mesmer

    Thief

    Engineer

    Elementalist

    Revenant

You guys are an AMAZING community

    Posted: 24 Jul 2020 08:31 AM PDT

    Just started playing this week...

Blown away by how friendly everybody is to newcomers

I will be standing somewhere doing something very noobish minding my own business and will be approached by people saying "hi". The next thing I know I've been in their party for a couple hours and leave with all this new knowledge, gear, experience, etc

People BEG me to ask them questions, which I always feel bad doing...Because I don't really even know where to start asking the right questions and figure I should just wiki things I don't understand. Yet so many people literally beg me to ask questions because they "feel like helping out"

Besides the random people I run into I joined a guild and the guild leader sends me a message everyday "just checking in seeing if everything is ok", "let me know if you need help", "keep up the great work", etc

Anyway just wanted to say YOU GUYS ARE AMAZING. I've been gaming for about 25 years and have never experience anything like this.

Revenant AFK farmers are DESTROYING CN server!

    Posted: 23 Jul 2020 08:36 PM PDT

Revenant AFK farmers are DESTROYING CN server!

tl;dr: whenever there's a gold farm (event poping area), there will certainly be bunch of Revenants standing there, doing nothing, and get all the loots.

If there's a profession that can make gold while afking, that would be Revenant.

Revenant can constantly provide boons to nearby players without any button press, and this count as participating in a nearby event.

There's mainly 2 "event poping areas" currently in GW2, that can be used to farm gold/krama/exp. This will work in EU/NA server, too.

    1) Drizzlewood Coast

If there's no progression in the map, an escort mission will pop frequently fron Umbral Grotto to Vloxen Mine.

20~40 Revenants will just stand there, in every channel. Well, if you want to make a progression it's worse, because they will be getting more free loot thanks to you, since they already have 200% participation by... standing there.

There are so many Revenants (and engineers since their turrets are spreading boons) in that spot 24/7 that making this map almost unplayable.

    2) Verdant Brink

    See: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Defeat_the_veteran_stonehead

This event will pop very often when the day outpost mission chain is done. Players would roam in this area farming this event boss, and a bunch of Revenants will be just ... standing there. When the map bonus reward rotates to https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Shiny_Bauble , it's even worse.

    Conclusion:

Players are AFK farming by passively giving boons / holding autoattack. EVERY profession can AFK farming (by holding any buff skill or autoattack), but revenant will do it most easily. It's been months and there's no fix to that. Please help spread the word, thanks!

(I know this will get a lot downvote, it's Okay.)

P.S. I think CN server is pretty much doomed. This morning there's an event that you buy 1 Black Lion key, you get a 0.1% chance to win a set of wvw Legendary armor.

Old cat learned a new trick, Tybalt can now /wiki for you

    Posted: 23 Jul 2020 11:51 AM PDT

Got bored so decided to teach Tybalt, or AutoMod for you people not using old.reddit, a new trick. Which was to do /wiki searches for you. Obviously it's only a link as there is not extended enough API to do anything fancy to get data from the page, but it should teach new players about the command. To use:

    /wiki [query item]

So for example /wiki [Lion's Arch], or /wiki [Dusk], or /wiki [Why is it called Guild Wars when there is no guild support].

    Edit

    Added features:

    • works with chat links | /wiki [&AgFEMAAA]
    • has 10 max searches for both normal and chat links

If you encounter any bugs or something to improve do let me know

Raiding league stream: Core classes against largos in 20 minutes!

    Posted: 23 Jul 2020 10:40 AM PDT

This month's raid challenge was a restriction on classes: teams had to use all 9 core classes to defeat the twin largos!

13 guilds took the challenge and tonight at 8 PM CEST (in about 20 minutes), Samajestay will be hosting a stream review of those incredible guild's performance (https://www.twitch.tv/samajestay)!

Do you think teams were able to kill the largos at all? Do you think they set a new kill time record? Are core classes secretly meta?

    Tune in and find out!

[NON-META] Trying to make a crusader guardian work! Please post suggestions.

    Posted: 23 Jul 2020 10:13 PM PDT

    First of all:

I am new to the game, but I am aware of how closely minded the meta is and I understand why.

It's in the maths nothing can go wrong from that.

For me though, I love playing Paladins (Sword and Shield FTW), always been and always will. This game is making it a bit hard for me, but I'm trying to push my build as far as I can to make it work off-meta and hopefully find groups that doesn't mind +10 minutes in fractals.

    http://gw2skills.net/editor/?PWxAw6FlFwuYYsJ2JOqL+pXA-zRJYhRXfZkYF0YKoyA-e

This is the build I'm working towards right now in terms of ascended equipment, but I want opinions about it

    The pros:

    - 100% Fury uptime + 25% Crit Chance from Retaliation uptime

    - Great Might and Vulnerability Stacking. I usually come to 10 of each at the very least.

    - Retaliation, Stability and Might Support for the team

    - 75% uptime Symbols, good DPS with Vulnaribility and Team Healing, available from Heal Skill as well

    The cons:

    - Not Meta at all. some builds just do those things way better, but I can't bring myself to like firebrand support

    - Mobile enemies easily go away from symbols, shattering the build down.

And as for myself... I'm really bad at weapon swapping for now and need to get used to using greatsword if at all.

Tell me your thoughts? It's not optimized, but I put a lot of thoughts into making Sword and Shield work, when I just know there's better stuff out there, but I just love the roleplaying perspective of it too much, and Fashion Wars makes it look good.

    Some questions

    Posted: 24 Jul 2020 08:27 AM PDT

    hello, 2 months player here

    Some random questions:

1- i started in april this year and i got both expansions, so i got the 4 maps from PoF, 4 maps from HoT, DoKourna and Drizzlewood. But do i have other maps? i think it would be funny to have access to other map without knowing ( do not have any LW quest )

2- how can i get more blue mastery points since im missing the 1 and 2 from ice saga?

3- recently i tried PvP does the weapon matter? does it matter if its leg or asc or random weapon?

4- sometimes in PvP some players just 2-3 hit me, in some games it feels balanced, but in some i just get destroyed, whats causing this? ( unraked )

5- thats the deal with Chak Infusion?

thats all for now, ill use this post to ask more if anyone willing to help

    thx
