Critical Hit Probability Calculation Posted: 11 Jun 2020 10:24 PM PDT EDIT: In summary, against lvl 26-30 enemies, the crit chance is approximately your weapon mastery divided by 100. To get a more precise precise approximation, you may add these correction terms: +1.3% against lvl 26, +0.8% against lvl 28, +0.5% against lvl 30. I am interested in calculating the chance of critical hit against various mobs (mostly above lvl 20). On the wiki this formula is provided https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Damage_calculation#Critical_hits The formula is simple enough until you get to the last term, called WeaponCritChance. From what I gather, no one has any insight as to what that term might be. The wiki claims:
These numbers are consistent with what the formula gives, if you completely ignore the WeaponCritChance term. However, there is conflicting information on german wiki (google translate works pretty well for me) https://www.guildwiki.de/wiki/Kritischer_Treffer German wiki claims that a level 20 character attacking another lvl 20 character with rank 12 weapon mastery has a 17.5% chance of landing a critical hit. I was unable to find any information on the effect of attacking a character above level 20 (since the formula has a mystery term). In the discussion page, user arty describes some empirical tests but the links to the results are broken. Either way, he deals with lvl 20 vs lvl 20 case which is of no relevance to pve. I am planning on doing some empirical tests (hopefully i will be able to use toolbox to produce a log of damage dealt to pve mobs so that i can count crits automatically. i need about 1000 hits to infer the crit chance at each weapon mastery level within +-1% which would take around 30 minutes, which i would rather not do that manually) But first i wanted to see if there was any actual knowledge that I was unable to find. Why Does It Get Progressively Harder to Repeat Missions Posted: 12 Jun 2020 03:40 AM PDT In Prophecies & Factions you just go to the outpost and click the "Enter Mission" button. In Nightfall, you have to find & talk to the relevant NPC. Then, in Eye of the North it's just like "look that shit up on the goddamn wiki." [link] [comments]

Profession suggestion new player Posted: 11 Jun 2020 12:18 PM PDT So, I just purchased the Complete Collection. I've never played guild wars before, and I wanted to see if anyone has suggestions on a good/fun profession to start with. I usually tend to lean towards spellcasting classes, so the Elementalist caught my eye. However, the warrior also looks pretty fun. I'm probably likely to roll either of these to begin. Any other suggestions? Mainly I'm looking for a good beginner class that is also fun to play, as I hope to jump into Guild Wars for quite a while...thanks! [link] [comments]

Suggestion: Weekly/Daily Class Discussion? Posted: 11 Jun 2020 07:06 AM PDT Just wondering if we can get a sticky'd weekly post that rotates through each class and maybe other topics to encourage discussion. I personally love theory crafting and seeing what the community comes up with but there doesn't seem to be an active place to discuss these things anymore. Maybe this has been tried before and it didn't work out. Just curious if we could get it going or if there was any interest. [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Jun 2020 02:57 PM PDT Hey guys is does anyone out there have a Q0 9-17 scythe they'd be willing to part ways with? Preferably briarwood, but that's just me being picky 😂☝🏼 Edit: I'd be interested in a Q0 1 handed weapons as well, if something like that exists [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Jun 2020 12:49 PM PDT Hey guys. So I finally got back to playing GW recently, and I've had a great time catching up and doing all the usual solo goodness, but I've also started thinking about getting into the whole speedclear thing. Now, if I'm remembering right, the last time I did a proper speedclear was back when Shadow Form still had its old functionality (pre 2010), so it goes without saying I'm pretty out of the loop when it comes to this stuff. I guess what I'd like to know is if anyone has any suggestions on how to get started with SC? Joining a SC guild sounds like a good idea, but I'm worried it'll just end up being one of those experiences where nobody's gonna have the time or patience to lug a noob around, so I'm kinda hesitant about that prospect. Are there any guilds/people out there who regularly teach speedclears or who could help set me on the right path? [link] [comments]
