His post above if you haven't seen. I honestly love the Guild Wars 2 community, even in times of global uncertainty they still offer help & guidance.

I wish to offer the same support to the EU servers that he is offering to the NA servers.

Background if required: I'm a Mesmer main that has spent a large amount of time over the past 3 years, helping players with JPs, Collections, Expac Hero Point trains, Tier 1 Fractal teaching runs etc...

    Therefore if you are:

    • a new EU player confused about story or general progression,
    • just reaching level 80 and are uncertain about the endgame, elite specs etc,
    • An existing player who really wants to get into Fractals but not sure where to start,
    • A player who really likes the idea of raid content but has low KPs or simply brand new to them,

Pls whisper any questions or add me in-game 'TotallyNotJazzie.1493' (EU servers) - I'm always happy to help anyone get acquainted with GW2.

To help the last 2 points, I have just set up 2 brand new EU Guilds that I hope will be able to provide the community, players both new & old, 2 central hubs for teaching:

    'Fractalicious [Rawr]' for Fractals teaching.

'The University of Raiding [UoR]' for Raid teaching, with a new Discord https://discord.gg/uheuXcS

If you wish to teach or learn endgame content, please feel free to join either and maybe this could become a bigger community project.

Like Zodiac in his post that inspired this, I'm simply passionate about the game and would like to see all parts of it grow.

I just realized, that Eil.9385 now has over 42500 AP. Shouldn't he be able to see the Skins that he gets, when he reaches 45000 AP or are there simply no Skins?

    I guess it's a shoutout to that_shaman or Eil.9385, because I'm just too curious.

This game needs more enemy mechanics above everything else

    Posted: 08 May 2020 08:02 AM PDT

I don't mean to talk mad shit about GW2 but rather discuss the lack of complexity of battle mechanics.

My cumulated boredom of required power dps and quickness made me write this.

We have so many skill effects and buffs, debuffs at our disposal and all that really matters is dps because obviously a dead enemy can't do any harm. CC has no other purpose than to rush to damage phases. Huge bosses aka. damage sponges have their right, but isn't necessary for an epic encounter.

I simply wish there were more fights that require cooldown management and target priority over dps skill rotation.

It's easy to implement like this:

We face 3 enemies that have each their own kit and resistances and weaknesses. One has high mobility and favors ranged high dps and healing/buff giving targets. It takes more damage while affected by movement impairing effects. The second has high armor value, can't be critically hit and targets players in close range , on top it is immune to CC. The third can heal it's allies and removes buffs from players, it also applies conditions.

By my logic you need to CC the first one to protect your allies and even take it down. The second one needs to be tanked and kept in check while being damaged by conditions. The third can't be ignored because it makes the fight longer and harder. Conditions need to be removed and buffs need to be refreshed or timed well. This fight demands a variety of skillsets and stat values, utility is as important as dps and raw power/crit damage is not enough to win.

EDIT: they also deal cleave or aoe damage, so you'd want to have a fair share of melee and ranged players and stacking is not always possible.

Correct me if this pipe dream is not desired or needed. I know some encounters have fun and hard mechanics but as far as I know they don't often encourage the use of mechanics other than maxing dps. I'd like to hear what you guys think.

[New YouTube Series] Submit your PvP and WvW clips for "GW2 Top 5 PvP Plays" competition!

    Posted: 08 May 2020 06:06 AM PDT

    Hey guys!

My name is Hollts and I am a long-time GW2 content creator focusing on PvP and WvW. I recently stumbled upon a "Top 5 PvP Plays" video from another MMO and though, hey, why don't we have that? Turns out Jebro attempted to start it many years ago but discontinued the project. So, I thought I should give it a try.

The idea is to send in a max 2-minute video of your best PvP or WvW clips that focuses on individual skill. This means no GvG or Zerg fights. The clips can be from any class, time period, etc. Just make sure to have an interesting, skillful, clutch or amazing moment caught on tape.

The prize for the best clip will be around 50gold as I am super broke.

For your clips to be included in the first installment of Top GW2 PvP/WvW Plays send an email to [top5gw2@gmail.com](mailto:top5gw2@gmail.com)!

    Include in the email:

    - What you want to be called by during the video.

    - Your in-game name (like Holl.3109, for example) so that I can send you gold.

    - A short description of the clip and why it should be included. Mention important interrupts, damage combinations, rotations, setups, etc that you thought were important.

    - A link to the build used in the clip using http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/.

    - When this clip was recorded.

    - Any personal message you want to say to me hehe.

    Rules:

    - Email to: [top5gw2@gmail.com](mailto:top5gw2@gmail.com)

    - Turn camera shake off in the settings.

    - Clips cannot be longer than 120 seconds/2 minutes.

    - Do not edit the clips in any way.

    - Footage must be from yourself.

    - Please send some high quality/clutch/skillful/interesting clips.

    - Clips can be from anything PvP related! Think duels, PvP Conquest, WvW Roaming, WvW zergbusting, etc.

    - No GvG's and zerg fights.

    - Clips can be from any time period in the history of GW2.

    - By sending me your clips you agree to me posting them to my YouTube channel.

    - Submit a WeTransfer, Google Drive, OneDrive or Dropbox link of your recording.

    - Please double-check whether the link you send me can be accessed by anyone with the link. Also, double-check whether I am able to download the file.

For more information check out my video on the project here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2sE-NvPOMXo

Hope this is all clear and that many people will participate! Would be cool to make this a recurring thing :) If you have any questions feel free to leave them down below.

    Kind regards,

    Hollts

What are some of the best and worst things about GW2 in your opinion?

    Posted: 07 May 2020 06:47 PM PDT

    Best:

    - Fashion Wars. Making awesome alts and cosplays. Acquiring account-wide permanent dyes and gizmos. Definitely one of the top reasons why I love the game so much.

    - Combat. It feels really good once you FINALLY achieve that perfect flow with your character. When you're just blasting out skill upon skill and smoothly adapting to the situation at the same time. Just feels so good. For example, clearing the very first part of the Volcanic fractal solo with my ghosty girl was amazing.

    - Mounts. For the most part, they're very well done. I would complain that the Skyscale makes many of the other mounts completely redundant and is grindy as hell to get, but otherwise, definitely amazing.

    - Trading Post is mostly great. It's not INSANELY robust for the true traders among us perhaps, but I think for the rest of us, it definitely gets the job done and done well.

    - No sub fee. It's been stated over and over but it can't be overstated. ANet has found a winning formula to both please its players and generate revenue.

    - Gear and class always stays relevant. No damn gear treadmill. With one caveat, but I'll get into that later.

    - Megaservers. Being able to log in and always find players on your map, no matter where you go is an often overlooked but awesome feature of GW2, ensuring that every map is active.

    - Great race selection. I don't think there's any playable race in GW2 where I've said "Ewww I'm never playing that." They'll all smoothly and accurately animated too with their own fun quirks to them.

    Worst:

    - No Guild vs. Guild. C'mon ArenaNet. And don't tell me the Guild Wars was just a lore event. You and I both know that's a poor excuse to not include one of the best features of GW1. And no, WvW is not a suitable replacement. If it can't be added, at least tell us why. Don't leave us hanging like this.

    - At least 50% of items in-game are account bound. One of the most frustrating things. I can understand some things being account bound, but sometimes, it literally seems completely random. Why is candy corn not account bound but baubbles are? Why are gen. 2 legendaries account bound but gen. 1 legendaries only account bound on use? Which brings me to...

    - Free stat changing locked behind legendaries. Every player used to have this almost right from the get-go in GW1, but in GW2 it's been locked behind an INSANE grind. Why? Why is one of the most important and interesting features for combat restricted behind a huge grind/paywall?

    - Forced Mastery unlocking to obtain sometimes basic functionality. Unlike the other things on this list, I kinda get why this was done, but at the same time, it's a huge pain when you see a new and cool place or thing you'd like but then get immediately stopped and told you have to get so many arbitrary points in order to go there/obtain that thing. This can also create PvE issues between players who have certain Masteries and those who do not.

    - Rendering engine lag. For me, it's not so bad, but I know many other players struggle with this. Now THANKFULLY, there is the dx12 wrapper that's come out very recently, but even so, this is an issue.

    - Going through levels 1-79/leveling specializations with an alt is completely and utterly pointless after you've already manually leveled a char to 80 and gotten the specs. Even for practice with a certain class, that can still be easily done without denying players access until they've done so and so arbitrary tasks. What's worse is even if you're willing to pay to skip the grind with an Instant 80 booster, you still have to get the Hero Points for the specializations.

Besides all that, thank you, ANet for giving us one of the best MMOs currently out there on the market. If I complain about some things in the game, it's only because I care so much, and also, because this game is so good, it makes its flaws stand out all the more.

Multiple account swapping using command line arguments on a Mac

    Posted: 08 May 2020 08:53 AM PDT

I've been looking into multiple account swapping using command line arguments on a Mac.

There is an example code on the wiki for windows using the Local.dat file but I cannot find a similar example for OSX and I have looked pretty hard (all 3rd party options appear to also be Windows only).

I had a go turning this into a bash script using the same format.

    -------- GW2Login.sh------------ #!/bin/bash cd ~/Library/Application\ Support/Guild\ Wars\ 2/ cp Local_$1.dat Local.dat /Applications/Guild\ Wars\ 2\ 64-bit.app/Contents/MacOS/GuildWars2 -autologin cp Local.dat Local_$1.dat cd - ---------------------------------

Use for account preferences saved in Local_ARG1.dat:

    bash $ ./GW2Login.sh ARG1

This gets the email switching correct but doesn't seem to correctly remember the password (Yes I ticked the box). It only remembers the password of the account I last logged into manually.

Any other Mac users come up with an elegant solution to this problem? Preferably without using a Windows dual boot.

    Your friendly neighborhood teacher

    Posted: 07 May 2020 09:07 AM PDT

Yo. First things things first my name is Warspites and I main guardian, I regularly do T4 fractals and some W1 and W2 raids, as well as all open world content. I've been playing for 7.6 years since beta and have only played guardian. I have 12 character slots all at 80 and have some basic knowledge of all the classes.

With introductions out of the way.

I am making this post to introduce newer players to fractals, raids, and dungeons. Teaching all the paths, what each thing does, some basic rotations. I also help specifically guardians with their builds, rotations, weapons and general setup.

There is no charge, no scams, just a dude who's passionate about a game and wants to teach new players so they may love what I love. There are no requirements for the T1 fractals so don't feel rushed for any ascended armor or anything special this is 100% beginner friendly.

Feel free to comment below with your name so I can add you or you're welcome to join my discord. https://discord.gg/2ZZrbE

EDIT: I am on Ehmry Bay, which is a NA server.
