Semi-final update on my GW inspired game

Semi-final update on my GW inspired game

It's been a long journey. This started as a small fun project where I wanted to explore the mechanics of the GW's skill system, also being influenced by the mechanics of other RPGs.
Now, two years later, I'm two months away of launching this project on Kickstarter, it's an analog card game by the way (no plans for a digital version for now). Learned so much about game design and have huge respect for the minds behind combat systems in games, especially GW.

Ambal Tournament is a skill based card game (no monsters) with simultaneous combat where players build their decks using up to two Schools of Knowledge. Each School is like an attribute from GW, and I plan to release more skills for each School and even new Schools in the future.

I've posted about the progress before so some of you might have seen pics of my game. For everyone that supported with nice words and feedback, thank you very much!

Some of the latest cards for Ambal Tournament

Ah, it might actually be the last update if people think I'm spamming haha. For more information about the game, here's the website.

Fan-made NPC - just an idea

    Posted: 25 Feb 2020 09:50 PM PST

Hello, I would like to suggest an idea:

    Fan-made NPC.

We know that Arenanet won't add new content to GW, and we know that GW's servers will be up as long as GW2 is running.

Though, players of GW1 would love to get knew things to do in GW1.

    Hence this following suggestion:

A NPC who would stay in a random outpost (usually in Inter-1), he would sometimes be near a specific NPC, or in a lost corner of a big city, depending on the story of his mini-quest. He would change his location irregularly. He would ask for some objects, when he retrieves them, he goes to another outpost.
How possible...? It would be a bot that do not play the game: just reading chat, sending /w messages, open/accept/cancel trades, and teleport to an outpost (and maybe move a little in the outpost).

    Example of quest:

The NPC is standing near another NPC2,

When a player do /wave in front of him or says "Hello <NPC name>", (any respectable greetings acceptable: Hello, Hi, Good morning, etc)

The NPC would reply "/w Hello <Player name>, <NPC2> would like to place flowers on the grave of <Name of a dead NPC3>, if you could give me 250 Red Iris Flower, that would help me a lot."

The player opens the trading window and gives 250 Red Iris Flower.

The NPC will cancel the trade after 10 seconds if the player failed to put the correct items or if the player has not pressed "Accept". (Also prevent a player from keeping the NPC busy)

The NPC accepts the trade and "/w Thank you <Player name>, be assured that your gesture will not be forgotten."

After 20 players have completed the quest, the NPC dialog answers one of the neutral phrases:
/w Hello <Player name>, you look great today!
/w Hello <Player name>, did you see this Charr earlier? He juggled with blades ...
/w <Player name>! You look delighted to see me!
/w Hello, <previous player name> just helped me. I don't need help anymore.
...etc. (we could put a lot more...)

The next day at a randomly chosen time, the NPC teleports to another city to offer another quest.

    Other short quest/event examples:

    • The NPC would be in a Challenge_Mission outpost, asking the player to score as high as possible on behalf of their guild.
    • During official events (Winter, Halloween, etc.), the NPC would stay in the city of the event in Inter-1, until a few days after the end of the event. The NPC will give with a special quest a little after the end of the event.
    • Players give 1 ecto to the NPC, after a few minutes (as soon as no trade request for 20 seconds), the NPC says in local chat "Well, now, give me a nice /roll 100", and the player with the highest score wins all the ectos. Depending on the place or the event, the material (ecto, saphir, etc) will vary.
Of course, only the players who gave 1 ecto can win the price.
    • The NPC could sometimes reward a player if this player had the luck to complete a quest in the past.
The rewards could be gold, ectos, or any "valuable" item.
These items/gold could have been gathered from another quest, or perhaps donated by the community?
    • The NPC will ask "I need something, but I can't tell you what.", and players will have to propose items... But it'll be limited to few tries by characters (or by player, if there is a way to make it "by account").
Whenever a player proposes the correct item: "/excited" then congrats this player, and send some speech in the local chat.
This item will be kept by the NPC, to be used later on as a reward.

We could link this NPC to a website, and every day it would display the names of the players who completed the quest.
Points would be awarded, with many more points for the first player to complete the quest for 2 reasons:
1/ we can suspect that the following players may be the friends of the first player
    2/ Discovery bonus point!! :)
Points will allow to make a ranking. Number of points doesn't really matter, it's the number of participations that matters.

    Maybe 2 kind of points:
Discovery Point (1point for the first player to talk to the NPC for the given quest/location)
Quest Point (Or sort of Reputation point) for the players who completed the quest. Number of points could vary, depending on the number of needed players for the quest. 20 players means a lot of points, but for a quest that last 1 week (meaning it's up to an infinite amount of players), very few points.

We could see this quests as "Elite quest", because only few players may find the NPC, and complete his quests.

    PRO:
This NPC can be totally fan-made!!!
Need organisation of some players to make it happening.
+ Can even follows to a short "new" story-line.
It opens a way to attract others Fan-made quest/events. (I mean, don't you had some ideas while reading my post? ^^)
Adds some RolePlay to the game.

    CONS:
The bot maye be breaking the TOS of GW. :'(
    It will be English-only.
Need someone to program such bot.
Need someone to let his computer open 24/7 to make the bot running.
Need someone to buy a new GW cd-key with all 4 parts of the game unlocked, with all cities unlocked. (plus a Costume?)

I am not native English speaker, so if you feel like it is worth fixing the English of this post, please tell me and I will fix any mistake you may have found. ;)

I could write more quest ideas, things the NPC could do... Because each time I read my message to check my English, I had new lines to it... So, I will let my post like that for now and I wish you a nice day in Tyria.

    Low Hanging Fruit Update?

    Posted: 25 Feb 2020 11:46 AM PST

I was looking through older threads and found this one: https://www.reddit.com/r/GuildWars/comments/8irsjj/the_low_hanging_fruit_stephen_bill_compiled_list/?sort=top

Are there any updates to this list? I'm particularly interested in if there's any chance that pre-order bonus items could be added to the store. I've looked online and haven't found any eye of the north pre-release bonus packs for sale. Also the prices seem to be very high when they are on sale which makes sense but it would be amazing to have a reasonably affordable way to get those items. I would love to have the hourglass staff among some other items.
