How to trick a WvW Bot

    Posted: 06 Feb 2020 07:50 PM PST

My views on WVW - It's awesome but underrated

    Posted: 06 Feb 2020 10:51 AM PST

Before I start I want to say that I know Anet will never read this and I know many people here on reddit do not play wvw, care about it or believe it's a dead gamemode but still wanted to share my opinions about it.

    A. When I first started playing wvw was only because I wanted the Warclaw. I found many people who helped me and commanders who didn't use the mount at all because I didn't have one. They were all friendly people who told me the basics of maps and how fights were organised. Sometimes I hear that "wvw" is toxic and even though I've found the classic "trash talk" here and there but most people are super friendly, super eager to teach and super helpful with everything related to the game mode. I've played PVE since the beginning and I'm in some guilds where I know some people, but actually I've made true friends playing wvw. We fight together and that creates a different bond, even more when your server is always outnumbered. I truly care about the people fighting on my side and we help each other.

    B. When I first entered wvw my build was all over the place. I come from a different game with same stats but applied in a different way. Over the course of weeks I was forced to improve, to upgrade my ways in order to be helpful in battle and to die less and less during fights. I've spent tons of gold changing things around. Gold that I've earned doing metas in PVE. I felt I was working my way towards an end-game purpose: make my character better to fight other people. So PVE became the source of my income and practice for better performance in wvw. I believe wvw is the real endgame.

    C. Sometimes you roam around because you're trying to flip easy objectives to help your team and yes, you'll find people better than you that will kill you. Every time I died I had this humble realization that some players will always be better than you and no matter what you say or do they will overcome you because they have skill but that never took my eagerness away to kill them. Some of them are recognizable because of their looks and it was exciting to fight them even if I knew already that I was going to lose. Every fight is a lesson. Every edge of advantage you can get is better for you, I started reading more guides, builds, I even changed my keyboard setup and hotkeys. In PVE I can overcome 99% of trash mobs in every map, I've done fractals and raids without dying. in WVW I can't let my guard down because someone will get me and kill me. WVW makes me a better player.

    D. People are afraid to fight other people. I know many people from PVE that will never play wvw because it induces anxiety, make them feel bad about their playing or reasoning behind their builds. I know that some builds will work better than others but honestly when there are large fights around any build can help. I know because I've doing the wrong things for a long time and I did well and no one told me I couldn't fight or gtfo. I think that there are no events that introduce players to this content. In other games, for example, Knight Online (underrated korean mmo) there's an event 3 times a day where people need to team with strangers against another team of strangers in order to capture and keep a tower. This gives rewards and changes some things in the PVE world according how many times from one side beats the other side (humans vs orcs). Also, there's a massive saturday event where both worlds go to war and those things change things. GW2 hasnt got a pvp event, it has an ongoing war but nothing that feels IMPORTANT and UNIQUE that really needs your participation.

    E. I've heard and read so many times that wvw is all about zerg and hitting 1 skill. I guess that's because they haven't played wvw at all. There's so much going on sometimes. The other day, giant teams of red, green were inside our keep and it was a mess. I had duels everywhere, 3vs1, 5 vs 1, a lot vs a lot. I had to get out of combat hiding somewhere to change my weapon to something else because the situations were changing. Commanders were dying, my mates were dying, I was dying but you know what? IT was FUN. It was the most fun I had in game. It seems like it was really important to everybody to take or defend that keep. After that happened and we all had a recap joking around (it was like 3am in my country by this point) I felt that our great accomplishment (push away the other 2 servers from our keep being greatly outnumbered) had no impact on the server at all. No one else will know. No one will care. wvw has a bad rep because it is disconnected with the main world of pve.

    F. To sum up I want to say that wvw is the most fun I have in game since months. IT's a shame that Anet and other players don't give the attention it needs. Give wvw a chance. It will grow on you. You'll have fun.

tl:dr : A) People are awesome in wvw. B) wvw should be the real endgame. C) wvw makes me a better player. D) People should be introduced to wvw in a proper way. E) wvw feels disconnected to the main world of pve. F) Give wvw a chance.

    [CnD] Soulless Horror - 1:50

    Posted: 06 Feb 2020 02:15 PM PST

    Hello Reddit,

we managed to beat the all-time record on Soulless Horror, that used Necromancers before the nerf of Epidemic.

    Log — https://dps.report/DCig-20200130-223512_sh

Note that many of Soulless Horror's instant casts don't get registered and therefore roughly 50% of confusion damage is missing. You can find an estimate with adjusted confusion damage here.

    Subgroup 1 Subgroup 2
Chronomancer — Xyonon Chronomancer — Yulian
Druid — Sascha Renegade — Sven
Mirage — Bovan Berserker — Bekko
Mirage — Lunar Mirage — Liam
Mirage — Solwolfer Mirage — Noah

    GENERAL STRATEGY

We realised that beating that specific record while running the conventional Scourge wouldn't be possible, and therefore explored other options that would result in higher DPS.
Mirage would be the obvious first choice, but running a Condition Renegade who gives Alacrity allows the Chronomancers to be more offensive — resulting in higher squad DPS, while providing Feedbacks for protection against the wurms and for higher uptime on Ethereal Fields.

Even though Time Warp is not required to maintain Quickness, we ran it instead of Signet of Humility to further increase the amount of Confounding Bolts from whirl finishers.
CC was mostly done by the Mesmers casting Magic Bullet, Time Sink, and Diversion. Breaking the Defiance Bars as quickly as possible is more important than keeping Cry of Frustration on cooldown — depending on kill speed you can delay every Cry of Frustration by a fair amount anyway.

We used a specific tanking location to reduce the probability of having to reset because of unfortunate walls, but keeping her stationary at the same time to not lose damage.
That being said, even on that position there is only a rougly 20% chance to finish the run — and that only accounts for walls. Everyone who has done Soulless Horror knows that she has many additional tools in her repertoire to screw you over — I'm personally a big fan of her corrupting stability and fearing Chronomancers off to Narnia.

Despite all of this, it has been fun working on Soulless Horror and we hope to see you next time around <3

The mystery of the dead tarnished sage

    Hey reddit!

Did anyone ever see this guy being attacked? I constantly see him dead but I've never faced a single enemy in these halls.
    How does he die?

    Looking for causal friends

    Posted: 07 Feb 2020 08:40 AM PST

Hi all, I play in the Norther Shiverpeaks server. I have been playing since the original guild wars and since the launch of GW2. Most of my friends have stopped playing and I only play causally but did Sorrows Embrace as the daily yesterday and had a blast with randoms. Just wanted to throw it out there that if anyone wants to play I'm down!

Funerary Incense: Are Legendary Bounty Trains still a thing?

    Posted: 07 Feb 2020 12:26 AM PST

    Title, mostly.

I just came into some wealth, figured I'd throw it at Coalescence. I spent all my Mosaics on the Gift of the Rider, and I have 0 Trade Contracts because I don't do PoF Metas.

So... Yeah. Do people still run Legendary Bounties? Or would it be easier to farm Contracts at this point in time? (And if so, how?)

I'll admit, I'm pretty pissed at this time/farm gate. I have Metric Ton of Crystalline Ingots but it'd take me a literal 50 days to get 250 Incense with those. Am I missing something?

    Thanks for your time.

Looking for tips for 2 Man dungeons/fractals

    Posted: 07 Feb 2020 06:30 AM PST

    Hi All.

I'm playing mostly GW2 with a friend and we would like to give a try to dungeons and fractals as 2 man group. After doing some "research" it should be possible (some info here and here).

We both are new players. I'm playing as a Ranger and he as a Necromancer. I would like to ask you whether you could provide us some tips for a good build for dungeons/fractals as 2 man team.

I know that there are pages like metabattle or snowcrows but on these pages are builds which consider full party of 5 players and I suppose that as 2 man team we would need to do some changes. And I know that a lot depends of our play stile, knowledge of instances, equipment, etc but to have same good tips at beginning would help us a lot and as we play we will understand our professions better and hopefully we will improve and progress.

As I mentioned we are new players so we do not have BIS items, we have full exotic gear mostly bought from the TradingPost.

    Thank you :)

Anyone know if its possible to remove fog without gw2 hook?

    Posted: 07 Feb 2020 08:37 AM PST

making this because i like to use dx12 proxy with reshade, but as of now gw2 hook is incompatible so no fog removal as far as i know. just curious if there is a workaround or maybe some shader that can remove it or something lol i really hate the fog in this game.

Wrong disciplines, what should I do? (lv 7 Guardian - Human)

    Posted: 07 Feb 2020 08:34 AM PST

    Hi,

I'm new to the game and didn't see that disciplines are not that easy to change, once in the village I instantly picked 2 random disciplines and when I was about to get the 3rd I found out that it was difficult...

I choose jeweler and artificer, now I tried to change to Armorsmith and it changed without cost...

So now I'm with Armorsmith and Jeweler.

What should I do now? Considering I practically only played the intro and a couple quests, I should start again the character or what?
