Snow Crows [SC] 5 man Qadim | 9:47

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 07:01 AM PST

Hello Reddit and fellow Guild Wars 2 players,

we are happy to present you our newest low man project.

5 man Qadim 9:47 (3:12 left on the timer)

    Log

    Our game plan:

The basic idea of this kill is not too different to 10 man raids. The major difference is that we had to compress all the roles into 5 people.

We took the Firebrand for quickness and vulnerability and the Renegade for alacrity, might, extremely high cc and some heals in form of Soulcleave's summit.

The Daredevils were taken for the shadow portals, kiting and their stolen skills (bombs for pulling and plasma for boons) as well as their very high dps without needing a healer.

Our Warrior ran For Great Justice to supply missing might and we used the Spellbreaker elite specialization to boonstrip the boss with Winds of Disenchantment.

The first two lamps were done by the Spellbreaker while everybody else was hitting the legendary adds.

The last lamp was done by the Firebrand and one of the Daredevils, while the Renegade and Warrior tanked the two wyverns.

In the boss phases we killed the protection and retaliation pyre using portals to skip the running part between them. We had a spellbreaker which allowed us to skip stability while still being able to cc the boss.

For the last 33% we were standing behind Qadim to not get hit by his attacks.

    Our Squad comp:

    Spellbreaker (Luna)
    Renegade (Stijn)
    Firebrand (Max)
    Daredevil (Trace)
    Kite Daredevil (Fallen)

A Hunger for Knowledge book locations

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 08:54 AM PST

Hello! I know a lot of people have been missing books from the "A Hunger for Knowledge" achievement in the latest episode. A helpful commander named Hellam Ari kindly marked all the book locations in a squad in lfg, so I decided to take screenshots of the locations and share them on the official wiki: here's the link to the article! They're not the highest quality since it's my first time posting on the wiki, but I wanted to pass on the good news. :) Thank you again to Hellam Ari!

[Useless info?] Drakkar is being tracked in the World Boss portal device. (Really cool for the devs to update old gem store items like that).

The Raven ceremonial armor - Poor implementation

    Posted: 29 Jan 2020 05:45 PM PST

I'm surprised no one is talking about this.

So Anet made kind of a big deal about a new armor being added with the episode. It was featured in the trailer, a teaser, the newsletter and the episode's website. I'll admit I'm always hyped when new armors get added since it opens new cosmetic possibilities and the Raven armor has been teased since launch. It has always been a really good looking armor for Norns so I was obviously looking forward it.

But the implementation is mindblowingly frustrating. I expected something akin to the Elegy armor, or just a currency grind like the Carapace armor, the Requiem set or the Mist Shard armor. But we got none of that.

Right now, there are only three ways to get a Gilded box of Raven armor. The gilded box contains a choice of legging, boots or gloves. I've heard it unlocks the three weights but I'm not entirely sure.

You get a box by doing:

1- 20 trials of Koda (one box per account, purchased at the vendor)

2- 20 strikes in Sanctum (achievement reward)

3- Reaching tier 6 of the T3 Boreal weapon set (11 weapons crafted, right now around 40g each to craft).

1 and 2 are somewhat doable. 3 is starting to be expensive... And that still leave us with the hood and the chest missing.

And these last two (hood + chest) are only obtainable through RNGesus by doing the Drakkar meta (once a day) or the new strike (once a day also), and if you're unlucky, you have to purchase on the TP (some pieces are sitting at 500 gold as we speak). We can also loot again the leggings, gloves or boots, reducing the odds even more (though I guess one could use the money from these and purchase what's left but still).

So yeah, the main attraction to the episode, the raven armor, has two pieces out of five locked behind RNG or expensive TP price and one piece potentially equally expensive to get (the T3 collection).

For information, there is currently only 4 boxes of Raven sandals on the TP (500 gold) and the only box of chest armor I've seen so far was around the same price, and it's gone now. And that's after hundreds of players doing the meta since yesterday.

How was this a good idea?

Icebrood saga needs it's own character select screen/music

    Posted: 29 Jan 2020 09:11 AM PST

The PoF one doesn't fit any more, and icebrood has some great music tracks that would make good character select themes. Plus it would help distinguish the "saga" from season 4.
