Where to find people for lower fractals?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2019 02:51 PM PST

    Hello,

I had a three year break from GW 2 and want to increase my personal level in fractal. At the moment my mesmer is full ascended and has over 100 agony resistance. But since one week I don't find any player in the group search or in my big guild.

Do you have any leads where I can find people who are willing to run lower fractals?

    Current PvE meta?

    Posted: 31 Dec 2019 01:39 AM PST

Old player returning to the game for the first time in a couple years. I was only a casual player before because I was stuck playing alone and didn't invest much time, but I managed to rope a friend into playing since it seems like something he'd enjoy. Hoping he'll stick with it so I have an excuse to play more.

Problem is I barely remember anything from before, and I'm certainly not up to date on things. I've tried most classes and specializations in the past (I also have the dlc), and I don't recall disliking any of them for what its worth, but I'm unsure what's most viable currently? I tend to enjoy high dps melee builds the most in just about any game and I know that was my preference in gw2 as well, but really, I'm open to just about anything. Easy or hard doesn't matter much, as I've gotta relearn most things anyway.

If someone could hit me with some suggestions, I'd appreciate it.

    Thank y'all in advance!

    New to PvP

    Posted: 30 Dec 2019 10:08 PM PST

Hi all! I'm new to GW2 PvP. Are there any tips or guides that I can view to get a better understanding of how it works? I come from WoW PvP, and you earned currency to buy better gear. Is that the system GW2 has?

    Thanks in advance!

[Recording] Why do I occasionally get severe frame lag when recording? How can I fix this?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2019 05:00 PM PST

    Example .gif.

I'm using Bandicam full version. I never had this problem before, but some time ago, I started to have heavy frame hitching when recording. Every so often my frames will come to a complete halt for a second or two. I've tried messing with settings but I'm really not sure what they do.

If more information on the program ( Bandicam ) I'm using is needed, I can provide.

I would really appreciate some help with this.

    Where do training guilds advertise?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2019 03:11 PM PST

I've got some ascended weapons and trinkets for my stats, and I've been told that's all that's needed to learn to raid.

However, I've also heard that trying to raid for the first time in a PUG with exotic gear is a recipe for disaster and I should ask a training guild for help the first few times. How do I find these guys?

I would REJOICE if Anet received the same treatment from NCSoft as Bungie from Activision-Blizzard

    Posted: 31 Dec 2019 03:59 AM PST

Imagine if Anet had a "divorce" with NCSoft and started to self-publish GW2 exactly as Bungie is doing with Destiny 2 right now. And look at the steamcharts - they are at the top of their game right now. Destiny sub-reddit is growing so fast it's almost the size of r/wow!

    What do you think?

Crafted Astralaria, finally quitting the game.

    Posted: 31 Dec 2019 01:40 AM PST

Inb4 replies that go "omg why are you still posting here if you're quitting gtfo"

I've hated logging in for a long time now. The lack of content, expacs, especs, meaningful communication, quality build templates, etc really killed all the motivation in me.

I've been playing since release and finally completed my most recent long term goal, which is to craft Astralaria. I finally did it! It was the only thing motivating me to come back in every day, do the dailies and buy the amalgamated gems.

Now all I feel is relief and a little bit of sadness. Right after posting it in LA, reskinning my axes, and announcing it to my guild, I uninstalled the game.

This post does not contribute anything to the sub. But hey everyone likes to talk about the new legendary they crafted right? So here's my post.

Thanks everyone for being such great members of the community. Maybe I'll use the time to learn something new or play the games in my steam library I bought but never touched.

    Mastery popup

    Posted: 30 Dec 2019 04:38 PM PST

So I made the mistake (who knew) of purchasing the ultimate edition when I hadn't even completed the personal story. My plan was to go through the personal story, then season 2 and 3 and then finally the newest expansions.

My problem is I've been at 80 for a good while now and got a few mastery points from a world event (triple trouble i think) and a few random ones. Now I'm getting a mastery popup every time i get xp. It's actually quite large and really annoying. It doesn't go away unless I'm in combat.

I'm just wondering if I'm stuck with these two choices:

1: put up with it until I'm done with season 2 and 3 (who knows how long those are)

    or

2: spoil the personal story and season 2 and 3 stories and start the new expansion story.

    Is there another option?

    (Suggestions) for Wintersday Bell Choir

    Posted: 30 Dec 2019 08:58 AM PST

First off, I expect nothing to change with how it works year after year. Just wanted to share some ideas I think would be fun for variety. The current meta works for both solo and somewhat group interaction. Below are some ideas concentrating on just solo and group game play separately. Of course these will still be following the premise of Guitar Hero in respects.

    New Game Modes

    • Solo Mode (solo instance). Player has the whole board to themselves, but cannot choose low, mid, or high. Solo mode will progress from easy, mid, to hard difficulties, but the melodies will be randomized and the player will automatically be positioned to whatever range (low, mid, high) the chosen melody is in. Rounds will endlessly increase in speed until the player cannot keep up -- gets zoned to Snowman. Gift and Karma rewards will stay the same per difficulty of song, but there will be an accumulative bonus at the end of each round (i,e., first round 2 presents, second round 4 presents, etc. )
    1. New music. All parts played in Solo Mode will be more melodically sound for all ranges. Perhaps harmony can be introduced in higher difficulties.
    • Group Mode (solo group instance). This can be filled either by randoms or squad of three. Players will still choose low, mid, high. Rounds would work the same here as with solo mode. Except when one team member misses notes, it affects the whole team's outcome.
    1. There would be new songs designed for team coordination in following tempo and syncing notes together.

A few fun themed ideas for new music

    • Angry Orphans (A scurrying melody that alternates between all ranges, with fits of chords for the patient of team players)
    • Snowflake Waltz (a medium tempo with an airy melody alternating and harmonizing between the two top voices; further harmonized by a fun stomping low range)
    • A Wintersday Race (a speedy tempo and intricate counterpoint spin a beautiful tapestry among a team of players)
