The Boneskinner pre-event should have Fallen enemies in it

    Posted: 27 Nov 2019 03:14 PM PST

This is mostly me just ranting about not having the Constant Vigilance achievement yet, which requires killing the Champion Boneskinner in its event without having him kill any survivors. Due to the general, um, let's say, "ineptitude" of the average joe on the new map, I just keep running into the problem that no matter how much I ask, there will never be enough CC there to continously break the Boneskinners Breakbar to prevent him from taking any survivors. One thing that definitely helps with that is having the Red Mastery buff, as the special action skill will take down his breakbar tremendously.

The problem is, you basically need to go out of our way to farm Fallen enemies to do get this buff. I kinda get that this might be the idea behind the system a bit, for you to go out and get yourself the edge needed to fight other enemy types better. But it seems like this whole idea doesn't seem to land with people ingame, generally.

So I was thinking, what if the events leading up to the Boneskinner champ had Fallen enemies to them? People would naturally be getting stacks of the buff and perhaps learn about the system existing in the first place like that. And as a bonus point, I might not need to pray to the gods each time the event goes up to have a chance at getting that achievement!

    [Question/Help] A matter of priority.

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 07:40 AM PST

I'm getting back into the game. Last time I played was HoT and I didn't even finish that. I managed to log in every LW release so I have all of them except S4 last chapter.
The question is: In what order should I do them? Does it matter? I'm doing Path of Fire storyline right now, should I drop it and go do Icrebood Saga so I don't get 'behind'?
I'm kinda lost. Is there anything I should absolutely do right now?
Masteries I do have(if it matters): Raptor lvl 2 and Gliding up to Stealth Gliding. I also have level 2 fractal training. That's pretty much it.

TL;DR: How would you rank story content(Expansion and Living World) in terms of priority?

    Strength of the Fallen

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 03:49 AM PST

So with the upcoming change to Courageous Return in Valor line of Guardian, I want to point out that this trait exists and hasn't been touched since 2015.

For those who play other classes or Guards who learned to ignore it and forgot what it does, it is a Major trait that cleanses a single condition on a 10 second timer and slows down health degen while downed by 33% (does not reduce damage taken, just the passive degen).

I think this is by far the worst trait in the game, and it doesn't help that it competes with one of the best defensive traits Guards have. It is so bad that it seems everyone, both players and devs, forgot it exists and noone mentions it.

    What Profession Should I boost?

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 07:21 AM PST

Hey all, I bought gw2 a while ago, came back and realized I needed to buy 2 expansions for the glider & mounts so I promptly did.

The game gave me a 80 a boost, I want to use this on a toon so I can do the first quest of each expansion to unlock glider and a mount which I want to use too keep leveling my theif up with a bit of quality of life improvements.

So I know the obvious answer is boost whatever you want, but really I'm looking for something easy to pick up as I probably won't spend any time on this guy until I cap my theif traditionally, something easy to pick up after long breaks. The only profession that doesn't interest me at all is the warrior.

Revenant, Engineer & Mesmer all look cool but will I be way out of depth?

    Thanks for any advice

My ideas on new GW2 Specialisations | Necromancer with a Sword

My ideas on new GW2 Specialisations | Necromancer with a Sword

    Hello!

I'm Lu and I play a lot of Guild Wars 2. I make high-end edits and concepts from gw screenshots, which you can find in the links below the article.

Now for the specs part - I've been having this idea in my head for some time now and I finally decided to share it with you guys - To see what you think and start an open discussion!:)

Mostly I was thinking of weapons, that I think are missing Or would be fun to play on certain classes. I do this in my free time, when I feel creative and wanna bring something new related to the game. I find that Guild Wars brings a lot of options regarding creativity and since I'm not very good at "raw" concept art, this game gives me space to still make art and scenes with already pre-made "assets".

    I hope you enjoy:).

Please keep in mind that I'm not a game designer (aspiring), so there might be some holes in the concept.
Here I chose Necromancer with a one-handed sword, So here's short description about how it works:

    • shroud would be split between Two parts/skills: one that provides healing and one that supports the offensive - for usage of both, you need certain amount or full life force
    • this spec is built mainly on health siphoning (which could potentially replace related runes and sigils at some points)
    • there would be utility skills called "Spirit", which would raise a spirit from underground - I'd like to imagine these as character-sized moving shadow, similar concept to Ender's Echo at Dhuum CM, which would have certain skills/attacks - they would fade/explode in the end
    • main (combo) fields would be dark and water

    Version Clean (main)

    Version Heal (support)

    Version Blood (offense)

I will be happy to read your ideas on this! I'm planning on doing more, so let me know what you think!

    Minor LFG Panel QoL Request

    Posted: 27 Nov 2019 05:14 PM PST

Similar to how story achievement categories were recently sorted in reverse chronological order (with the newest episode at the top) - can we please get the same treatment for The Open World category on LFG?

I know everyone on the subreddit has a gripe about LFG, but this is something simple that I'm sure we can all agree on.

    Thank!

    GW2TacO and Skyscale

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 06:34 AM PST

I've recently returned and am trying to use TacO and Tekkit's POI's to get my skyscale. I typically turn off most of taco as it can be a distraction and am trying to figure out the minimum of what I need enabled to work towards my skyscale.

    The "Barrier" Tank

    Posted: 27 Nov 2019 11:21 AM PST

That's something that was used to describe what the goal of the scrapper was not long ago.

Let's examine this, shall we? Among other things.

There are two ways for a scrapper to generate barrier. Two.

1.) Do damage. 2.) Bulwark Gyro.

    lol?

See, in PvE, when you're not dealing with mobs that don't dodge, don't have toughness or other blocks, dealing damage is actually relatively easy. I can generate 10k barrier or more without so much breaking a sweat.

In PvP, if a scrapper goes damage, there is little to no defense. Even if you kept adaptive armor, you're still weak against conditions. You can run Purge Gyro, sure, but it doesn't keep up with the absurb amount of condi spam that can happen. And forget ever having any real defense against massive burst damage. Why are we the only class that has an invulnerable that doesn't let us do anything while we're invulnerable?

So trying to do damage in a PvP scenario is a complete joke. Blocks, dodges, invulns, toughness, etc make damage too hard to reproduce, thus not generating enough barrier, thus getting lol steamrolled.

    So let's examine bulwark gyro.

Hey, it generates barrier. Great. Except when you pop it in teamfights, you're suddenly pulling damage from everyone around you. Well, let's look at solutions for that.

To survive the incoming damage, that lasts for 5 seconds no less, you can block it for 1.75 seconds with shock shield. Nevermind that bulwark pulls for 5 seconds. You can pop Elixir S, but again, can't do anything while miniaturized. You could run gear shield from tool kit, but unless you're running a condi build, no point in that either. You could run the iron blooded trait in the alchemy line to help. But, who actually runs that?

Pop it in a team fight without some kind of defense, you're dead in seconds. Unfortunately our means of doing so are weak, at best.

You want to be a tank? Then your only access to barrier is the bulwark, because you'll still do laughable damage to generate any barrier at all with Impact Savant.

I also want to talk about gyro's. They are the core mechanic that came with a scrapper. And I want to compare the holosmith trait line and the scrapper trait line. The holosmith trait line's core mechanic is heat generation and photon forge. Let's examine.

So you have gyro's. They can explode like a bomb, but that's outside the scrapper trait line. They are wells.

Looking at the scrapper trait line, you have one. ONE. SINGLE. SOLITARY TRAIT. that affects wells in any way or enhances the gyro's in ANY fashion, beyond the function gyro, which now is destroyed instantly anyway. And it's lackluster at best. Granted, the increased field size is nice, but superspeed to the function gyro? When it's used for stomping? lol wut? Yawn.

Let's look at the holosmith traitline and see what affects heat generation or photon forge.

Every. single. f*cking. trait. Every single one.

    Scrapper = 1, Holosmith = 9

Now. Someone tell me that scrapper isn't completely and utterly, broken in the worst possible way.

    I wonder who's the cheapest?

Nine questions from a GW2 noob.

    Posted: 27 Nov 2019 11:30 AM PST

I'm starting to play around with GW2, and I'm getting that warm feeling that I may actually come to love this game. Just really beautiful to look at, and so far a lot of dev decisions they've made seem to make sense.

If people could please answer any of the questions below (in some cases a simple confirmation), it would be much appreciated:

    1. After a bit of profession research, I've chosen ranger (Sylvari, now level 5, and wow did it take me a long time and several tries to settle on character options). I've read it's one of the easiest professions to play while I learn the game, along with warrior and necromancer. True?

    2. I've also read here and there that ranger was gimped in the early days of the game, but is now on par with other professions. True, or are they still a weaker profession?

    3. Another one of the reasons I chose ranger is because of the specialization of druid, which looks pretty cool. Can I switch my ranger at will, once I have purchased expansions? Or do I have to start a druid from level one?

    4. So far I just have the vague notion that there are crafting professions... should I worry about them now, and if so, are there any that go well with ranger?

    5. Assuming that I do go ahead and purchase the expansions, is there a level I should do that by?

    6. I've come from WoW, and will be leaving that behind. I am interested in PvP, and I see that there are equivalents to battlegrounds in GW2. A main attraction of GW2 for me is that it seems to have removed the grind because you can just join BG's at any level and the system will adjust you. As a complete noob, I won't do that yet as I don't want to be a team burden. But is that true, like I can just join up? I have a wife and kids now, so the ability to not play for a while and not fall behind is huge.

    7. I hear that RP exists. Once I get a feel for my character and the world, I would like to dabble. How do I find said RP?

    8. I assume there's a character window, how do I open it?

    9. I'm running on Linux/Wine. Most of the time it's smooth, but it does get a little choppy at times. Anyone else experience that at all?

Next Elite Spec should make scepter usable for more profs

    Posted: 27 Nov 2019 06:18 PM PST

So the thing is, the scepter is a main weapon right? However we barely could use it, only 4 classes have access to it not to mention only 3 has valid build for it. So the logical step could be introducing the scepter to more classes like revenant and ranger perhaps.

    Please share your thoughts.
