[Spoilers] Strange sightings in the new trailer

    Posted: 01 Feb 2022 09:35 AM PST

While watching the new EoD trailer, I noticed some small details that seems very... out of place ?

The first one is at 1:20, showing off the mechanist. The character is fighting Undead Gorillas. Except, these are Risen of Zhaitan, and are only found in Orr : more specifically in the Cursed Shores, Arah and Siren's Landing. In the trailer they are clearly minions of Zhaitan with the coral sprouting out of them.

At first I thought it was weird. Maybe a convoluted oversight ? But it gets weirder.

At 1:40, when the turtle lands on an enemy, that guard is weilding not one, but two Orrian weapons ! The mace is the Mace of the Dragon's Deep and the shield is the Orrian Shield.

Both the Gorilla and the guard appear to be in the Jade Sea zone.

There's no reason for all this Orrian stuff to be in Cantha. Unless the Jade Sea is so full of magic that it's ripping stuff from other places. Or it's the Deep Sea Dragon. To me, it feel very much like in season 3 episode 1, where a White Mantle guard had a Balthazar shield (which didn't make sense back then).

It doesn't feel like an oversight anymore. Could it be a hint of what's happening in Cantha ? What do you guys think this means ?

Out of house when EOD launches? You can follow these steps to auto patch the client while you are away

    Posted: 01 Feb 2022 07:58 AM PST

Don't want a massive download when you get home on Monday, and want to jump right in to playing Eod? Then I can be of some help. Follow these steps and you should have a fully up to date Guild Wars 2 client for when you get back, ready for you to jump into the distant land of Cantha.

    1. On your desktop create a notepad document. (Right click -> New -> Text Document)
    2. Open the document and paste the following code and replace the xx:xx with the time you want the Guild Wars 2 client to start. I typically set it to be 30 minutes before I get back home:

     schtasks /create /tn "Run GW2" /tr "C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe" /sc once /sd 28/02/2022 /st xx:xx /RL HIGHEST
    1. Rename the file so that it is saved with the .bat suffix. Widows will tell you this will change the functionality of the file, but you want this, so click Ok. e.g. Rename "New Document.txt" to "New Document.bat". I suggest naming it something obvious as well, like "Run GW2", but this is unnecessary. The important bit is that you change .txt to .bat.
    2. Before you leave the house on Monday, double click on this file and when you come back you'll be able to log in straight away, with a fully patched client.

N.B. If your computer goes to sleep this may not work, so you might want to disable that, and just turn the monitor off instead.

Worried about the code? Here's an explanation:

    schtasks /create

is the windows command to create a scheduled task.

    /tn "Run GW2"

is the name of the task. It doesn't have to be Run GW2, but it's something obvious, so it makes sense.

    /tr "C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe"

This tells the scheduled task where to find the .exe file to run. You will have to change this to where you have Guild Wars 2 installed.

    /sc once

This tells the task runner how often to run the task. As release day is only one day, you only need to run it once :)

    /sd 28/02/2022

This tells the task scheduler on what day to run the task. Release day is the 28th, so that's an obvious one :). This depends on your system date-time settings. If you run DD/MM/YYYY this is the way for you, if you run MM/DD/YYYY you want to put 02/28/2022.

    /st xx:xx

This is the time you want the task to run. To capture most of the likely release day patches that are released before you get home, you want to set this to as late as possible to when you arrive home, so you capture most of the patches, but early enough so that the client is fully patched by the time you get back. I normally choose 30 minutes before when I usually get home. This should be in HH:MM format.

    /RL HIGHEST

This sets the rights of the task. Highest means it will bypass all rights checks and will run without being impeded.

PSA: Make sure to prepare your underwater equipment!

    Posted: 01 Feb 2022 10:43 AM PST

Hi everyone, End of Dragons has an awful lot of water in its theming and during the recent trailer there was a leviathan swimming through the Sea. You might want to doublecheck your equipment is prepped. I just went through the options for underwater gear with a friend so I'll share it here too.

    Aquabreathers.

With Winter's Day come and gone, you'll either need to settle for a rare level 80 aquabreather from Tequatl the Sunless, a masterwork Aquabreather with probably terrible stats from one of the heart vendors or go for Ascended. In which case your options are the Diver's Breather helmet/mask/veil, Wegloop's air helmet/mask/veil or the crafting recipes from Fractals.

The Diver's breather is a unique skin costing 11 gold and about 90 gold or 100-200 days' worth of swim speed infusions gained from the daily underwater treasure hunt. You can buy it from Dive Master Astora in Lion's Arch. The Wegloop Air breathers are from Slooshoo in Bitterfrost Frontier (Living World Season 3 episode 3), it's 500 winterberries and 6000 unbound magic... All the more reason to be farming berries forever. Both of those options are stat selectable for all prefixes. Lastly, the fractal recipes are unique per stat prefix and cost a measly 150 fractal relics. The actual crafting materials will set you back about 30 gold.

    Trident/Spear/Harpoon gun

Buy an exotic one for 50 silver off the trading post. You're welcome. Or craft rage because you don't feel alive unless you burn 20 gold for no reason. I'm not the boss of you (or me apparently).

For ascended, there aren't any easy ways to obtain them. Most ascended weapon chests will contain underwater weapons as an option. The recipes are obtained from same places as normal as well, so Zojja's/berserker's trident is from the NPC next to the crafting station while Yassith's/Viper's Impaler is from recipe books in Tarir (or some silver on the trading post). The craft itself will set you back about 30 gold.

If you think that's too much an investment for too little benefit, unless you're running tier IV end fractals, that's okay! And don't worry, fractal frequenters don't care if you have ascended water weapons either.

    Hope this helps!

After EOD what direction do you hope the story takes?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2022 08:37 AM PST

1: A new world ending threat like dragons.

2: Political conflicts against other nations, like Joko and the charr during icebrood.

3: Pioneer stories about venturing into unknown places like the mists.

Has anyone else avoided everything about the new expac besides the new elite specs?

    Posted: 31 Jan 2022 06:33 PM PST

I've avoided everything about the new expac besides the elite specs.

I haven't clicked on any of the zone previews, watched any trailers, or looked at any pics from the expac.

I want to go into the story/zones knowing nothing and seeing it all for the first time myself in game.

    Anyone else?

Any core (Vanilla) classes that are viable in early Fractals/End Game?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2022 07:22 AM PST

So, back in the day I bought two heroic editions, because I wanted to get two of my friends to join me in game. Long story short, they both dropped for various perceived game mechanic/paywall reasons.

With the new expansion weeks away, I am trying to get one or both of them to give it a second chance. My question, as the title states, is there a viable core (Vanilla) class that could be used (not instantly rejected) for early fractals/early end game type content? I know one of my friends is interested in raid type content, and if I can show them a little of the end game, on one of their characters, I might be able to get them more interested. We'd be starting at the very beginning as both dropped after reaching 80 on few toons. So both would basically be newly minted 80's, in Exotic equipment.

Best route to get a fresh account ready for EoD

    Posted: 01 Feb 2022 09:14 AM PST

I recently got ahold of my original account and I want to get it ready by the time EOD come out. I just bought all three expansions and I have a level engineer and a 80 boost.

I would like to know what would be the best course to take to get a character geared and ready for End of Dragons.

Also should I use the 80 boost and what class would you suggest?
